I'm not taking a position one way or the other but...

Lakers-Age, 12 games in, do you miss Lamar?

Of course I do. We'd have had much fewer TOs with LO on the 2nd unit. Our 2nd unit has been pretty terrible at times. Especially Ron.

Of course, McBobs being out has hurt.

This season, with LO, I think the Lakers would be just a serviceable PG away from contending...

But Asik and Gibson are better than Noah and Boozer and Boozer is clearly never going to improve and is just going to get worse.

Playing Better Now =/= Better Players

Boozer and Noah at their peak are game changers. Asik and Gibson at their peak are role players. It's on Thibs to find ways to get Boozer the ball in positions he feels comfortable offensively and defensively.

The first 4 games this season Kobe was almost never on the pinch post isolation the way he was in the triangle. Mike Brown bit and put Kobe in the positions that Kobe feels comfortable and the team is doing better and he's doing better. He even alluded to it when asked why he's playing better.

If Thibs had a private one on one with Rose and asked him to force feed the ball to Boozer every time he was in the low post until he got his groove, they might lose a couple games, but Boozer would gain a lot of confidence.

One thing is for sure, Utah / Sloan / Deron utilized Boozer A LOT better than Rose and Thibs are doing.

Plus, Thibs fetishizes defense. If the Bulls lost because they gave up 2 points in the fourth quarter and scored zero, he'd be more pissed about those two points they gave up.

Apparently Odom is depressed because his cousin got murdered last July, and he was involved as a passenger in an accident that killed a teenager. He even considered taking the season off.

True, but it's better this year. There are some good video breakdowns at RealGM showing how Rose was much worse at working with Boozer in the P-n-R last season.

Da fuck??

I never read any kind of report on that.

Did Lakers Age even know about this?

Link?

Boozer could be amazing if he just showed better effort, and tried to play inside the post more. That's on the Bulls, though, because they usually don't give him the ball when he is in the post, and if they do, and he misses, then they just stop.

He's built strong but doesn't play that way.

When he does play aggressively, including the interesting spin move near the basket(he hasn't used that much this year), he can be effective but more than even last year, it seems he's taking the comfortable jumpers and when he's hitting them, he takes them all game long.

I really like his jumper but I'd like it to be 50/50 between that and closer to the basket.

I don't think the refs like him much either, he doesn't get to the line that much. Sometimes that's him and his play but sometimes I think he's not respected in that regard.

Asik at his best might be the best help defending big man in the league other than Dwight and Bogut and maybe motivated Chandler. Noah's arms are too short and his strength and athleticism aren't good enough to reach the levels Asik can reach defensively. Bulls would have been much more competitive against the Heat if Wade hadn't injured Asik. Noah can bring a barrage of below average offensive skills to the table, but that doesn't really do him any good.

Boozer is gonna Booz. His contract was terrible when it was signed and every said so. He's just NOT that kind of guy that relishes contact and attacking the basket.

The thing is though, when he wants to be, he is pretty strong(though maybe undersized) but yeah, he's passive, a finesse player with a good physique, seen those before.

The thing that bothers me the most about him(besides his very poor defense) is his hands and he sets some halfassed picks.

I think even the Bulls knew, but they felt they had to get somebody. They probably wanted it to be Bosh, though. Or maybe they thought Booz would be good enough to be packaged for Dwight, at some point.

@NBAOfficial: @RobMahoney @tomhaberstroh @treykerby: Yes, LeBron should’ve been called for traveling last night

It was nice knowing everyone. 2012 truly is the end of times.

Odom is shooting under 30% from the field? Am I reading that right?

GM of the year, Mitch Kpuchak.
And the Dwight trade hasn't even happened yet.

Lamar is still a mess from the attempted trade to NO. He's doubting his game entirely and has stated so.

He was never really great at anything. And now, he isnt the second best player on his team, or something close.

Triangle made him and the triangle is no more...

The officials always do stupid shit like that, after the fact.

We need to give each team Challenges like in the NFL for crucial plays.

Same system as the NFL.

Challenges are lame, if they didnt catch it in real time, well, too bad.

Part of what makes games fun is the element of human error, otherwise were better off watching AI simulations.

He only sets bad picks, when it's not a PnR for him though. Like, if he's setting a down screen for someone else, you may as well just have him not bother.

As much as I hate the non-call, I do not want challenges on fouls/travels.

Out of bounds, shot/game clock expiring, and the 3pt line are the only proper replay options.

To piggyback off of that, even with challenges some officials are just blind. They will still make the incorrect call.

Have you seen what a catch is constituted as now in the NFL? Nobody fucking knows.

Disagree.

I enjoy that aspect of the game in the NFL and a lot of times, things get overturned. It keeps things fresh, imo.

Yeah, and the NFL doesn't review pass interference, false start, etc. It reviews out of bounds, possession. It reviews ball position/possession, much like the NBA. Not penalties.

It just makes things so arbitrary, I think it actually allows for more corruption. The closest the game approaches something you can play with your friends, the better IMO.

Nevermind making a game that needs to be shortened into a much longer one.

I don't get people that say this.

For unique or differing strikezones for umpires, sure.

For deciding plays at the end of games where the answer is cut and dry, screw human error.

That Heat/Clippers game had at least a couple replays at the end and even though they went in favor of the Heat, they had to get those calls right as the game was in the balance.
