So yea, just occurred to me that the biggest games this year are undoubtedly endings to trilogies.

Batman Arkham Knight

and a little bit of cheating with canon, but with MGS3+Peacewalker

The Phantom Pain

Any other trilogies finishing this year?

In a podcast for Kojima Productions, Kojima stated via his translator that Portable Ops is canon

I think it's confusing as the game is sometimes acknowledge and mentioned in other games, and other times totally ignored. But as far as i remember, Kojima confirmed it was canon.

Truth be told I feel like there's an increased emphasis on subtitles this gen instead of numbers. Even CDProjekt emphasized Wild Hunt over Witcher 3:Wild Hunt. Subtle but effective way of making it seem like some series aren't too long or inclusive for newcomers.
