3 is quite a few, it's the absolute max for a tennis player for example.

the list of multiple medal winners at one event gets dominated by swimmers and i think the top 6 "most medals at one olympics" is just swimmers.
Hard to compare racing sports with others honestly. People can make the same arguments about track. Only difference is that swimming has different strokes, but it's not like Phelps is winning backstroke, free, and breast individual competitions.

What's the difference between an Independent athlete and a refugee athlete?

The Independent athletes are either from countries not yet recognized by the IOC or whose countries did not meet standards set by the IOC.

Refugees may be from recognized countries, but had to leave or flee due to troubles.

The winner was from Kuwait, whose Olympic delegation was suspended, I think.

Got curious and decided to take a look at the NBC feed for once.

Wow, these commercial breaks.

I was watching some replays of stuff yesterday on the mobile app, and 10 commercials played in a row.

For something that happened yesterday.

My god, even the live stuff only has two play at maximum.

I give NBC a lot of shit (deservedly), but I'm actually pretty happy with all these live feeds. I've been spoiled for choice all Olympics long.

Back during the fencing epee finals, right before the 3/3 and down 14-10(once someone gets 15 points they win), Park started to tell himself "I can do this" over and over again. He went on to make a ridiculous comeback and win. Overcoming 5 match points in epee of all blades is fucking insane, still can't believe Park pulled it off.

Great clip.

Also while we are on the topic of fencing, this made me laugh:
