Yeah, was thinking about that. Was her "early" development more due to puberty (she was a fully grown woman at 16-17)?

Or is she nursing an injury? Or her technique hasn't developed?

Don't think she even qualified for the 100m backstroke which is her favorite stroke.

Ledecky is definitely living up to the hype. The fact that Ledecky moved from 800m / 400m specialist to 200m favorite is amazing. Basically like Sun Yang (minus doping/douchiness). Missy Franklin hasn't quite lived up to the hype since London in comparison.

Only comparing her to Sun Yang given how he started off as a distance swimmer and now pretty much swims everything but the 100m (and who knows)... like Grant Hackett. Versatile across pretty much all distances bar sprint.

He qualified 5th to the semis. Whether or not he medals remains to be seen, but this is not different than how he has performed previously. IIRC even in 2008 God mode, he still qualified 5th or 6th in the heat in a couple of events.

Czeh was pushing it, especially the last 50. Phelps has still never really had a peak performance in 200 fly. Still I'd expect him to win gold when final comes.

uhm czeh swam a sub 53 this year, no one else has a time under 54 this year. I doubt that czeh got even close to his limit during that run. Let's see how fast phelps can go i think he can push czeh but it will be very hard.
