i would not take any of the booing against one or another country so seriously.
brailians showed too many times that they arent the greatest in sportsmanship.

I'm only a french citizen, I'm japanese born but that lack of respect for no reason infuriates me even more. I'm just not used to that shit, it's not in my culture.

Honestly I mostly see it on the internet (mainly from americans) and in sports. I've never meet anyone in real life who just hated french people for no reason. I've been all over the World and actually people always treat me well when they learn I'm French.

In the US I've been all over the country and even in the deep south people have been super nice to me and always say they'd love to visit France and visit Paris etc... So yeah I don't know where this hate comes from I can't explain it lol

They're an history in soccer between the 2 countries, France eliminated Brasil 3 times in WC in the last 30 years ( including one finale). I think they're still salty about that
You'd think they'd be more salty towards the team that 7-1'd them on their turf at their national sport

I like the fact that us French are getting booed every time we're over performing, this men handball match is another example.

USA and France are like the only 2 teams where this happens everytime.

fuck the brazilians crowd and GG Germany.

USA? Brazillians (and Argentinians) booes every rival, but I see the most "hate" towards Frenchs and Spaniards. Dunno why

Yeah, it's probably the worst host ever, what a terrible Olympics it was in organisation and shit, what a fiasco...

True but that's another story.

If it was brazil vs france in handball and the crowd booed us then it would be totally understandable. What's weird is when France is playing against a random country, brazilian fans still boo France and cheer for the other team lol

SO yeah it's deeper than that

Good match, Referee was bad and made two big mistakes that could have given the win to the Germans
Well, we were not that good on offense in the second half, we could have avoided being under the risk of a bad referee decision.

I believe that in this kind of match, we own a good chunk of the victory to Omeyer...

Well it's in part because of the british propaganda that has been rekindled by americans not that long ago ...

It's same with people who legit think french history started with WW II and that we like to " surrender ". When I tell them that the french army is actualy the army that fought and won the most battles (not that it's anything to be proud of) in the history of humankind they don't believe it lol
Well, there's plently of unfounded memes/caricatures for all countries in the world. I sure don't want a WW III to have a chance to up the score. People will believe what they want, anyway.

I don't think that talking about the booing will help, anyway.

When is Brazil vs Germany in Soccer ?

I possibly cannot cheer for Germany in soccer so I'll be rooting for Brazil even if brazilian fans don't like us lol

I like france. I also like you. :)

Even though i was very mistreated in France, so i guess i even have a reason, but i don't think that's true for all of the french people.

Hockey should not be 4 15min quarters, its so drawn out.
2 20min halves would be much more palatable...even 10mins a quarter would be an improvement.

They really should remove horsing from modern pentathlon, or call this "not-so-modern" pentathlon... (fencing, too, probably)

I find the rules for the horsing part kinda strange, anyway...

Even though i was very mistreated in France
I feel sorry for that. :/

A lot of those same people that make jokes about France in WW2 also revere them for their contributions to American history

I'm very sorry about that bro :(

Sadly it doesn't surprise me that you were treated badly in my country. We still have a long way to go.

Was it in Paris ?

Yeah and it made it even weirder to see the outpouring of support and love from the US after the terrorist attacks last year in Paris. We definitely didn't expect that. It took us by surprise. We were like " What is happening ? We thought they hated us ? "

Yep. Paris is one hell of a city. Truly incredible. I can't say the same for the people i've met there. Although i've heard from some people that is more of a Paris thing and things are better in the rest of the country

What ? France is the first and older ally of the USA, the only time they dislike each others is when the French wouldn't go to war with them because they know they were lying about WMD... they've made peace since.

We should probably stop talking about anything else than sports though.

The crowd is clearly cheering for Sweden, and most of people are using yellow shirts (from Brazil), so looks like they're playing at home

Where you watching? Well ahead of the BBC.
Dutch national broadcasting.
I guess the ocean line through the Dutch Antilles is shorter than the Falklands.

Ils sont fous ces Parisiens.

I was born in Paris. The city is slowly turning into a shithole. It's sad but it's the truth.

Honestly I always tell my friends here in Canada who want to visit France to only stay 3 days max in Paris. Start by going to Versailles and then spend 48 hours in the city to see Le Louvre, Montmartre etc...

I always tell them to go to the South or in fact any other region in France because you'll always find tons of historical landmarks in any part of France. The culture is very widespread throughout the country so there's no need to spend all your vacation time in Paris. You're just going to leave disappointed. Paris is no way representative of the rest of the country.

Huh, a Canadian is currently in third place in the Women's Modern Pentathlon, with 3 of the 5 events completed. Could be another medal there.
