I figured this would be a good place to ask. But due to my obsession with the 70s I love bell bottom/flared jeans.
I only have two I got online the other from a Levi outlet store (they're seasonal apparently)
But does anyone here know a good place or brand even for men's flared jeans?

You could try boot cuts. I have a pair of Banana Republic boot cuts that I bought a few years ago that has that flair look. Nothing extreme, but definitely noticeable.

I don't think Boot Cuts do it for me though, granted every other pair of jeans I own aside from the "true" flares are boot cut I just don't think they're wide enough.
I'll check out the boot cuts at Banana Republic though. Thanks

Flares are out for guys and are just barely coming back for women. I'd say in 2-3 years you'll be able to get flares from fashion-forward brands and maybe 4-5 find them easier.

7FAM has a cut of flares but only for women that I know of

Can someone please explain to me in layman's terms why I should spend $200+ on ONE pair of jeans when my $20 pairs last me some years? I'm a poor, college student though, so just buying a $200+ pair of jeans for every day of the week at once is not happening.

you shouldn't be buying $200 of jeans

read the OP if you want to know about the subtleties of denim

Any tips about sizing/fit on a pair of Acnes? Thinking about picking up a pair of Max's soon. For a little reference, my true size is a 32 and I have some New Standards in 30s that after a little break in fit me fantastically.

waiting for my APC Rescues to come in, hopefully they fit better than the NS--but damn, Tenks, those Nudies are sweet, I'm beginning to regret my purchase already.

They look better now than in that picture. Alot less rigid. I'll try to get some 3 month wear shots up in the next couple days.

I was thinking about Somet or KMW as my next pair. Does anyone have any experience with them?

-edit-

Also an outside chance of Dior Hommes

i own somet 003s (slim/straight) and they are incredible:

-beautiful sheen a la raw APC/nudie but on a heavier denim (13.5 oz vs ~12 oz of APC/nudie)

-once tailored to remove stacking and hot soaked to shrink, they are my ideal slim/straight cut. slimmer in the thighs than most jeans, too, so people with smaller legs (like me) can get a slim cut w/o wearing tapered jeans. nice size hem so it wears well over boots.

-detailing is great: subtle back pocket design fades in after 3+ months of wear, gorgeous white leather patch, one slanted belt loop on the back sets the whole thing off. subtle all around.

-REALLY small rise on these things. you've gotta wear them low on the waist or your balls are gonna be a little uncomfortable.

I'm looking to jump into some quality denim myself. You guys mostly just buy via the web? How good is the sizing on most of these brands? I have a hard time with pants, small waste, big glutes, long legs. :|

Well since I am in NYC anyway i will check out some of the stores mentioned in the OP.

Having a denim dilemma. Can't decide between a pair of Acnes, Sugar Canes or Somets.

I'll second the SC vote, you'll love 'em. Got a pair of Hawaiis myself; the quality and fit are both top-notch. Can't wait to see how they fade...3 months in now; planning on washing them on my birthday in June. Will definitely post before and after pics that day!

You're much better going to one of the stores in the OP then. When paying this much for denim, you don't want to make a mistake.

Here is a slew of pictures of my Nudie RR sz 28/32 3mo wear. At least 6days/week generally 7. On the backside fit pic the butt isn't actually faded out like that it's a lens flare.

Not sure how much it'll help due to the angle and everything but here I am in my April77 Joey fit Snow wash.

(btw, those are not April77's in the above picture. No guitar-pick pocket and I don't think April77 uses silver rivets. They might be Ksubi Gee Gee)

P7300006.jpg

I tried the black snow wash on a few months ago but it just looked a bit weird on me. You look like you're pulling them off though.

Does anyone know anywhere online selling Joey Thunders in navy, size 30? They seem to be pretty scarce. I'm going to Paris for a weekend next month so I might try hitting the April 77 flagship store.

so I was able to snag a summer '10 pair of Diesel's online this morning with free shipping

which means the pair of diesel zoghar's that I bought a few months back are useless to me.. since I wear 33x32 and the ones I bought last season were a great color but not my size

their a 34x34 and worn a few times(creases still intact and not broken in yet at the cuff)...if anyone is interested...let me know...
I only want $75 shipped for them (they were 225 and I paid $145 for them)

I can get pics later tonight...trying to save GAF some $$ and I'll ship overseas if folks want to pay the extra shipping

let me know

Weird. It's called Regular Alf on their site. And none of them look like that...

Thinking about getting some here in NYC soon.

i am looking into getting some a.p.c. new standards and was wondering about the inseam on them. I am pretty tall, 6'5, on levis my inseam is 36. How long are the inseam on a pair of a.p.c's?

Tenks, I think those Nudies look horrible, but if you like them then more power to you.
what? they look awesome.

man, my APC new rescues are just amazing--they're as comfortable as pajamas.

Decided to finally start wearing in my Flathead F310's I bought in Christmas '08. It's been hard to give up my super comfy old GStar's, but these FH's deserve to be worn, they're just too nice.

I believe all APC's are 34" inseam

Try naked and famous. They are around the same price or a little less and you can get them with a 35 or 36 inseam.

I'm a huge fan of Lucky Brand jeans. Huge.

Every once and a while, they have a sale -- I bought this $120 pair for $50 at the Deer Park, LI Tanger outlet mall yesterday. (It's a new arrival too. It's a storewide sale -- all denim is $50)

When you decipher which style fits you best, it's a great feeling! I was a bootcut guy for the longest time -- but now bootcut sickens me. Classic Straight Leg FTMFW. (Big fan of low-rise & short inseam as well)

Any other Lucky fans out there?

Alf/Ralf are the same thing. I think Regular Alf was the original name but due to some legal issue they had to change it to Ralf. Or it could be the other way around.

@Moose. I think we have different senses of styles from comparing our tastes in jeans. No biggie but I love my Nudie's.

Cheap denim, overpriced, gaudy washes and fantastic fits are pretty much the adjectives I think of when I think of Lucky. I can't say I'm exactly a fan since generally I'd rather just get a pair of 7FAM for a few bucks more.

Also, are you sure those jeans in the picture are straight? It appears like they have a slight flare at the knee. Not a major boot but those look like bootcuts to me.

I agree though, the cuffs look a little long in that website photo. Anyway, I don't find Lucky's washes gaudy at all! In fact, I'm more perturbed by 7FAM's washes!

Different strokes for different folks.

I'm new to this thread, I'm the guy that spends $50 on a solid pair of $120 jeans. A dealseeker only, not really a diehard like yourself. I appreciate the info though.

Well you'll find out that mall-version "$120" jeans are really no different than the Levi's you'd find at Kohl's. Even when I wasn't in a financial position to afford the jeans I do now I'd wear Levi's 514 Slim-Straight because the denim was higher quality than Express, Lucky or A&F and the fit was better for me. The wash may not have been "better" but I generally prefer subtle washes so my 514's generally just had small whiskers and faded knees. Simply charging more for denim doesn't make it better. Lucky's denim is of no higher quality than Levi and I'd argue it's actually worse. Same goes for Diesel, True Religion and 7FAM. All their quality is shit you're just paying for a wash and those call for $200+ MSRP.

Of course to each their own. I'm aware some people have their brands they love and fit them perfectly. If that's Lucky for you then stick with it.

Lucky has been hit or miss w/ me. The first pair I bought (on sale, $75, retail $200) are horrible. Fit, quality, everything.

Found two pair that fit well at Nordstrom Rack for $35 each, they've been great. Subtle wash, no gaudy detailing, much better fit. Probably no better than anything Levi's puts out, but for $35 they've served me well.

Yes I like Lucky sometimes too. I have a pair of their super lightweight jeans I got for like $40 bucks at an outlet.

Eh, I don't know if anyone can help me with this. I got a budget of $70, and I need to find a pair of jeans and a shirt for a party next week. There's gonna be boatload of chicks so I don't feel like wearing my same old clothes. I'm looking for boot-cut jeans and a full sleeve shirt to go with it (no polos or Ts). Anyone know where I should start?

Anyone know anything about WESC jeans? Any good? Also, what's a good brand for colored jeans (i.e. white, red)? Thanks...slim fit would be nice too. I also discovered that I hate 100% cotton jeans, I like ones with some spandex weaved in. :\

Just go to the GAP. They have affordable jeans and shirts on sale all the time. Some of their washes are really nice.
