30min of new Move gameplay

its like ping pong without the motion controller.

fascinating

This stuff is not new, we've seen a LOT of footage from these games already. Does anyone honestly think that this is all that Move will be able to do? Or that these types of games will be all that is released for the Move? There is SOCOM 4 (confirmed), Resident Evil 5 (confirmed), and whatever Sony's got to show at E3 and beyond.

What this "hands-on" video shows, is that it can do exactly what the Wii does, but in HD, with camera input as well. It's to show those "casuals" that "hey, we can do this too". And is not meant as a "this is all we can do, just like them!".

It's all in the software bro, let's just wait until we see stuff that isn't a mini-game package.

why does the art have to be so blend?
Because it needs to blend, of course.

The stuff at the end is fairly interesting, but everything before is kind of depressing. I just get this awful feeling that Sony is speeding full steam ahead into some trainwreck of an E3 conference focused on games they've already announced and MOVE

There has to be proof of concept first. I don't think Sony or Microsoft have shown anything that's fundamentally different than what the Wii Motion Plus is already capable of. Hopefully that changes this E3, but so far the most in depth stuff they've shown is basically borrowed concepts.

That's all I'm saying. If that software exists we haven't seen it yet. That's why it's so silly to see people painting these new interfaces as some sort of great leap when there's no proof of concept beyond what's already out there.

Wow. Yeah, just like Wii, this is not for me. Getting a really similar vibe to Wii Sports and Resort.

meh..... I think this is the case where Nintendo wins due to superiour software development skills.

While I can see that the MOVE is good, I just don't see Sony being able to develop interesting games for it.

Seriously hoping this is not the case....would be the beginning of the worst trend ever if they blew their E3 load before the actual event.

Looked ok to me, not sure what people are expecting tbh, just looks like Wii Sports but in HD, I'm down with that, I wouldn't buy a PS3 for it but as I already own one it's not really a concern.

From what I've heard, I'm almost certain Sony has at least a couple crazy surprises in store.

If you think this just looks like WiiSports in HD, then you must not have played WiiSports at all.

WiiSports was very fun to play the first few times I played it with friends, this though, this doesn't look any better than the straight cash grab WiiSports trash clones that litter the Wii.

Not impressed at all. Is this really what Sony has been working on for so long? For this? =\ Wow... well there it goes ladies and gents, thanks to Nintendo now all the major companies are pushing hard for this, and yeah, Natal or whatever it's called now will be just as shitty as this. Now it's up to the developers to keep this garbage away from taking over gaming as we know it. If not, we always have PC to play on...

That's how I'm feeling. Not that it is a bad thing. A stage demo for Infamous 2 and Last Guardian would be all I need. Compared to Nintendo and Microsoft, they are definitely lacking that mystery.

In a way, I'm still hoping they have some surprises, but they really announced so much. The only reassuring thing is that all the announcements have been sequels. Killzone 3, Infamous 2, LBP2, Motorstorm 3, SOCOM 4, etc. Maybe E3 is when they show off the original games, or at least unexpected sequels like a new Syphon Filter, Ape Escape, Jumping Flash, Twisted Metal etc.

Yeah, most are viewing this from where the inspiration is coming from as opposed to the mechanics. Mechanically it's probably a superior game to Wii Sports, but the its' reason for existence feels disingenuous

I'm hoping they are just getting all this out of the way pre-E3 because they have so much unseen, unknown awesome packed into their conference.

Yeah right, what will happen is what a lot of people have mentioned already, E3 will be a review of everything we have seen already and a whole lot of MOVE. =\

Melodramatic much?

I would think so, probably only slightly however

unlikely IMO
I hope that that's not the case, because it could fuck up the balance of multiplayer games. Then again, making Move-only lobbies means that a lot of people with Move would play in the non-Move lobbies simply because their friends don't own it.

I'm not going to fault the tech because it looks pretty good. The design decisions in the game are incredibly uninspired.

Wii Sports has the designing and using your Mii aspect which was big part of the fun. I don't think anyone wants a 'hardcore' Wii Sports. True to life mechanics would take away from the fun, party game appeal.

Pretty sure the devs mentioned Move/non-Move silos for SOCOM. At the very least there can be scoring differences.

Refined toon look of the 2nd game is better.

The Champ Sports venues one other than Gladiator arena are ok from a tech perspective but just crowding the eye with superfluous stuff.

Control looks solid.

Pretty much this.

I wonder how big market there is for this game. Who is it targeted for? For casuals who own PS3 but not Wii? For people who liked WiiSports but thought "yo dawg I'd really love this if it was HD" (this group doesn't exist)? For people who wanted a more realistic version of WiiSports (this doesn't exist either)? Wii Sports is the best-selling game of all time so pretty much everyone who wanted to play it has already done it.

The party game looks nice though.

This video has made me realize how pointing with the Wiimote was revolutionary in and of itself....and Sony just had to put that in, I wonder why...

please, someone tell me they were developing prototypes of adding pointing to their motion controller like 10 years ago, since its already all the rage to use an excuse like that...

Pretty much what I expected. Sawitcoming.gif etc etc. Yeah nothing mindblowing.

And while Im sure there will be more than we have seen here, and maybe even a gem (the party game looks decent at least) I wouldn't count on their being anywhere near enough to really 'change' anything.

But hey you never know until its ov.....

Oh, I know what this looks like to me now.

It's like they wanted to have the same games as the Wii to attract the "casuals," but thought they could grab the "hardcore" gamers with more realistic graphics.

As a result, neither group has any attraction to it.

These "HD" graphics look horrible, character design is laughable.

I've just recently acquired a Wii so I do know what WiiSports is, and this looks like a HD version of it in imo, albeit in a different wrapping, whether it will be as good as WiiSports is another thing, I don't see why not though, end of the day imo the main hook for WiiSports Resort is motion+, that's what makes it fun to play, the actual games themselves are pretty basic really, I tried playing the original WiiSports on my mums system when it came out and I thought it was completely crap, but if it had motion+ I would of loved it like I do WiiSports Resort.

I guess most ppl think this way. Wii Sports IS the killer app for the whole Wii, at least one of them. for Move, nobody knows... so far

who designed those characters. ugh.
and I hope in the final version that u only need to calibrate once.
Volleyball looks good but having two wands r pointless other than serving.

I really like the wand turning to different tools in the game

This shit looks so much worse than the Wii.

Yeah the vids look like loleremote but, if the thing is more accurate than the Wiimote I'm all for it. The one reason I'm so hesitant to buy a Wii is that every time I end up playing a game it's so damn inacurate that I just end up sitting on the couch waving the remote around and do just as well as my friends jumping all over the living room.

Or maybe that's what they want you to think? (or at least I hope)

I seem to remember last year Tretton saying something like "we know you all like surprises." The secrets are a large part of the fanfare of E3 and they know that. Maybe I'm being optomistic, but I love getting sucked into the hype of E3 and watching the conferences live and to actually be surprised by something, I'm still holding out hope, but it sure seems like they've prematurely blown their load.

This is clearly a Wii Sports ripoff being played by people that don't know how to play it. Any chance at all that it had to look cool was taken away when they didn't realize how to play it. My suggestion would be to make the video later after both of them had some practice with it. I mean that isn't going to help all of those games in there but it'd make some of the segments competent at least. The party game actually looked like it would be fun. And maybe I'm the only one but the archery and ping pong looked like they would be really good too.

Is Killzone 3 a surprise?

LittleBigPlanet 2?

InFamous 2?

MotorStorm 3?

No...these titles were all expected, and they're all coming out in roughly a year's time.

Sony did the same thing last year, only they chose to unveil their titles at a gamer's day convention in April.

Uncharted 2 was unveiled well before E3 and still ended up winning game of the show thanks to an amazing on stage demonstration and great trailer.

All of these titles that Sony has revealed, that we expected, have only been given brief glimpses and at E3 we should be seeing a lot more of these titles.

And it's not like they're alone in this regard, Microsoft employs the same strategy. Gears 3 and Halo Reach have been revealed for a while now.

Build up hype and momentum for what you're expecting, and save E3 for the unexpected.

It's a good strategy, I'm sure Sony has a few surprises in store.

Whilst I agree the games themselves look rubbish and worse than their Wii counterparts, the implementation of the motion controls doesn't seem any worse.

If you want to judge Move by a Wii Sports clone and Eye Play 2.0 then you are not really going to be too impressed :p

If it turns out Socom 4 and other games don't play well then yeah, Move would suck.

Is E3 really that defining for shareholder confidence or the supposedly "important" mindshare though?

Sony better have at least one big core Move title planned for E3 because right now, I am not impressed by any of these Wii Sports clones and shovelware titles.

Wii Sports Resort already had impressive archery mini game. The Move volleyball game seems like it does motion control better than Wii Sports Resort's basketball, but it doesn't do anything new. I mean, the tennis game in the original Wii sports allowed you do serve the ball with motion control as well. It's a been there, done that type of experience.

Where's the original stuff ?

Move's tech may be better, but I have yet to see it used in creative ways.

It'll be crazy if Ninty steals the show again with 3DS like they did with the first Wii unveiling in E3 years back.

Well we know they have SOCOM 4, but let's not hope that's it.

Also this Times article talks about the EyePet using Move
