Had a request for a first play thread for this so here we go
For those not in the know, Dream Club is a Japanese 360 game by D3 Publisher. The game takes place in and around a hostess club and there are 8 different girls (2 are also available as paid DLC) to choose from.
Gameplay wise, you could think of this as Idolmaster without the music element (well, there is a little bit of music involved, but more on that later). From your base (your bedroom ) you have several choices depending on whether it is night or day. During the daytime you can work to earn money, check your phone messages, go shopping for presents for the girls or progress to night time. During the night, you can go to the club, check your messages or progress to the next day if you don't have enough cash.
Once you get to the club, you choose whichever girl you want and can choose to dress them up in any accessories you have bought (earings, bracelets etc, similar to iMAS). At random times, you may find that the club is having a cosplay night where the girls will dress up. I have seen them as bunny girls and in school gym uniforms so far.
After this, you buy a drink for yourself and one for the girl. The right analogue stick is used to 'drink' the alcohol which, if you drink too much, sees the screen swaying side to side. Too much booze and you pass out Your girl drinks when you do and can also get drunk.
Pressing Y takes you to a menu, A lets you talk with the girl, B lets you give her a present and X allows you to buy more drink, food or have her sing karaoke. This takes the form of a simple rhythm game where you have to press buttons in time to the music. If she's drunk, she stumbles about and sings terribly, quite funny tbh
Like iMAS, certain things you say, do or give the girl will raise or lower her liking of you and once you leave the club, your overall XP bar will raise or stay the same, depending on how well you did. I'm at level 2 at the minute but haven't found out what this does yet. I thought it would unlock new karaoke songs, drinks, foods etc but none to be found yet.
Also, when talking to the girl, you sometimes stumble across a mini game. The two I have seen so far have been a drinking competition with the girl and having to write her name in sauce on some food.
Overall, I'm enjoying the game a lot and played for around 2 and a half hours on my first playthrough. With these types of games, especially if you don't know the language, the first couple of plays are great for a bit of trial and error but I would definitely say it's easier to jump into than iMAS (for someone like me anyway, who has played loads of all Japanese text games over the years but doesn't know much of the language )
So yeah, if you have a Japanese or Asian 360 then chances are you bought it for games like this alongside all those lovely shmups, so give it a go
