(360) Dream C Club new screens and info

While I don't think this game will ever see Western localization, it seems like the only Japanese lifesims that garner attention in the English-speaking world are the pervy/squicky ones (hostess-fondling! witch-touching! underage aspiring singer Svengali-ing!). Even Princess Maker 2 back in the day had more than a little of that. It's a shame, because I think it's a genre that could do fairly well over here; it'd be a step in the right direction from the bland abstractions of the simulate-a-life-less-interesting-than-your-real-one Sims games.

For now, looks like the closest we'll get is the lifesim portions of the Persona games and the upcoming Sakura Wars V localization.

We got DOAX2 ¬_¬;

You can eat french fries with these girls and they seem very happy to do so, that is my take away from the 2 hours I spent with this game.

Someone I know picked up the game and we sat down to play it.

It's definitely pretty accurate for a hostess club, having to throw down huge wads of cash to get anywhere. Hell, a plate of french fries is 1800yen! Usually the girls aren't so polite to remind you that your time is up though...heh...

Seems like it's very streamlined, not much variety in it from what we saw. You just go to work or go shopping, then go to the club to talk about nonsense, buy overpriced drinks and food, and do some karaoke. Seems very simple compared to other dating sim games, but it could be a good introduction into the genre. Maybe it gets more advanced as you keep playing.

You can play the karaoke game online against other people, but we could never get first place, the other players were too good. The real-time rankings also seem nonsensical, we would get a constant combo of "good" ratings yet our rank would drop up and down at random.

Game comes with a catalog with DLC, which is all really unlock keys. Two free things, and you can buy two more hostesses for 800 points each, ouch! I wonder what future DLC will bring...

We tried installing the game but it made the loading times much worse. Not sure if that was a fluke or not, but we uninstalled it and it ran normal again. I think the size was around 4.7 gigs or so.

It's a fun little game, I guess. There's probably more depth to it than what we're seeing.

how difficult for a non-Japanese-speaking to play the game? I mean, difficult as Idolm@ster or easy as Life for You?

Well, it's closer to iDOLM@STER than L4U, definitely. I have a very high Japanese level so it's kind of difficult for me to judge...if you don't know any words it'll probably be very difficult since you need to be able to follow conversations and pick responses, similar to iDOLM@STER. I guess you could just do the karaoke sections and not need to know Japanese, but that might get boring.

I think that if you have a basic level and have a dictionary on hand to look up some of the more difficult words, you'll be able to play the game without so much trouble, since most of the conversations are really basic and use pretty common vocabulary.

Thanks. I need Japanese classes definetly.

Anyone know if there are any menu translations out there anywhere? Just got the game and, like iMAS, using my first playthrough for trial and error but if anyone knows of any translations that would be great :)

Put a few hours into this since getting it earlier today and posted some early impressions on another forum:

Had a request for a first play thread for this so here we go

For those not in the know, Dream Club is a Japanese 360 game by D3 Publisher. The game takes place in and around a hostess club and there are 8 different girls (2 are also available as paid DLC) to choose from.

Gameplay wise, you could think of this as Idolmaster without the music element (well, there is a little bit of music involved, but more on that later). From your base (your bedroom ) you have several choices depending on whether it is night or day. During the daytime you can work to earn money, check your phone messages, go shopping for presents for the girls or progress to night time. During the night, you can go to the club, check your messages or progress to the next day if you don't have enough cash.

Once you get to the club, you choose whichever girl you want and can choose to dress them up in any accessories you have bought (earings, bracelets etc, similar to iMAS). At random times, you may find that the club is having a cosplay night where the girls will dress up. I have seen them as bunny girls and in school gym uniforms so far.
After this, you buy a drink for yourself and one for the girl. The right analogue stick is used to 'drink' the alcohol which, if you drink too much, sees the screen swaying side to side. Too much booze and you pass out Your girl drinks when you do and can also get drunk.

Pressing Y takes you to a menu, A lets you talk with the girl, B lets you give her a present and X allows you to buy more drink, food or have her sing karaoke. This takes the form of a simple rhythm game where you have to press buttons in time to the music. If she's drunk, she stumbles about and sings terribly, quite funny tbh

Like iMAS, certain things you say, do or give the girl will raise or lower her liking of you and once you leave the club, your overall XP bar will raise or stay the same, depending on how well you did. I'm at level 2 at the minute but haven't found out what this does yet. I thought it would unlock new karaoke songs, drinks, foods etc but none to be found yet.

Also, when talking to the girl, you sometimes stumble across a mini game. The two I have seen so far have been a drinking competition with the girl and having to write her name in sauce on some food.

Overall, I'm enjoying the game a lot and played for around 2 and a half hours on my first playthrough. With these types of games, especially if you don't know the language, the first couple of plays are great for a bit of trial and error but I would definitely say it's easier to jump into than iMAS (for someone like me anyway, who has played loads of all Japanese text games over the years but doesn't know much of the language )

So yeah, if you have a Japanese or Asian 360 then chances are you bought it for games like this alongside all those lovely shmups, so give it a go

In the few hours that I've played, I've been choosing Nao whenever she's available mainly as she's a lot like Makoto, my favourite iMAS girl :)
Up to level 3 and been on a date with her. For anyone else playing, I have a few questions:

1. I've noticed that raising my level has allowed me to do a new job, what else dos levelling up allow?

2. When/how do I unlock new drinks/karaoke songs/food etc?

3. I presume once a year is over that's it? Can I continue with my level intact?

4. There is an album mode in the options - how do I take pics?

I haven't played the game since before, but from what I remember, I think that the "leveling up" when you leave the club is just your alcohol tolerance increasing. The heart icon in the corner is more relevant to how much they like you, and as it increases you get invited to do more events and afterparties.

Yup, as I've played more this seems to be right :)

Would anyone else be interested in doing a basic FAQ for the game for anyone else here who has imported but doesn't know Japanese? Was thinking of doing a very basic (i.e. no translations of all responses etc, just the bare bones which can be added to as people learn more) guide so that we can get more out of the game :)

Post/message me screens...will send you translations, atleast through next week. After that, I'll be busy with ToV and Trinity Universe for a few months :P Might be able to sneak a few translations in every now and then during that time, though.

What would you want to know? Most of the stuff you figured out earlier seems to be the base of the menu selections. I guess I could help translate the questions you ask the girls since you see the same ones pretty often, and the responses you can pick since those are always fixed. Maybe also translate their profiles of likes/dislikes since those can also be useful to know. I really don't understand how someone could play this game without any knowledge of Japanese though! It seems like it would be really difficult to get the girl to like you if you don't know how to respond to her, haha.

I'll see what I can do the next time I visit my friend's place.

Well, like you said the more I play the more stuff I figure out. I think at this point it would be mianly knowing what the key items for each girl are. I know that they don't appear to buy until the girl has mentioned it in conversation, but it would be helpful for getting the best endings :)

It's tough enough playing it and not knowing Japanese, but I'm well used to doing this and am progressing nicely :)

New DLC for December... some interesting costumes :lol
