3D Classics on 3DS: the basics of converting an old game to 3D

I wonder if you'll ever be converted into a 3D lover.
The 3DS has a tough job ahead of it.

The 3DS will be a great system, it doesn't need 3D to be that. It's a problem with autostereoscopic 3D, not 3D itself. 3D is just a technology that needs to find its right outlet without the drawbacks of the current slate of 3D technology. One day that will come, and then I'll buy into it like everyone else.

I don't feel the need to be 'converted', I've already experienced autostereoscopic 3D on a format that is better than 3DS is. Autostereoscopic 3D is just one of the bad formats for 3D with too many drawbacks. We'll get there one day.

3DS is a platform for good games, and I think it stands well enough on its own (at least, the direction it is moving Nintendo and also the future games coming to it) to not require liking that feature to enjoy it.

Okay that's awesome. It surprises me that old games used so few layers, but presumably stuff with parallax backgrounds will be easily separated for 3D effect? Seeing how easy it is for 3D games to be made 33DD is a pleasant surprise, though it's completely logical that it'd be so easy.

I've only just found out about these 3D Youtube videos as well. Very cool.
It's due to hardware limitations

I don't know if it would work perfectly but you might be onto something with that. This is the entirety of Mario's graphical data:

Just wanted to point out, i got this screen similar to this from what I can remember when the game screwed up on me.
