3DS and 2012. How was 3DS 2nd year?

Personally, I just recently bought myself a 3DS for the upcoming Fire Emblem. Everything else is just gravy at this point. :)

How do some of you guys buy 5+ retail games and say things like, "Eh...I guess the year was alright"? Buying that many games a year on any console seems like a pretty good year to me.

Maybe those 5 games weren't all great games?

Only game I got/was interested in was Kid Icarus.

Hoping that Super Smash Bros. will come next year (no delays). We'll see.

EDIT: I also got NSMB2. Forgot lol... It was a solid game but it was so predictable that it was easy to forget about it.

Dang, it's a shame so many people skipped Code of Princess.

Just getting started with it now. Really entertaining, even if the combat in single player can at times be mind numbing. I feel badly for people that can only find enjoyment in one, or two games on the system. It has plenty to offer for me. :/

Second year of 3DS was okay. I really hope there's more third-party games coming because it feels like we've seen all of the high-profile ones already released barring Castlevania. I was actively playing mine from November 2011 to April 2012 starting with 3D Land up until Kid Icarus. I wasn't interested in NSMB2 so there's been quite a lull for me until Style Savvy: Trendsetters came about.

I cannot emphasize enough on how much I love Style Savvy.

Could of been a lot better.

Only bought 3 games all year for it. Kid Icarus,FF Theaterythm and NSMB2. Kid Icarus would of been amazing if the 3DS has 2 analog sticks instead of having to buy the circle pad pro.

It was meh for games I am interested in. Most of my games are launch titles. 2013 is not looking so hot, so I cant wait for E3 to see what may be out there...

2012 was awesome. All year I constantly had something to play, many of which I still haven't finished with yet, they simply got overtaken. After playing through 3D Land a little bit late, there was Kid Icarus, Picross-e, Theatrhythm, Pokemon White 2 [DS game, I know, but it took up my 3DS time] and then Style Boutique.

Ah, Style Boutique, how I love thee.

Such a good year - always something to play, not enough time overall though.

However, 2013 is going to be better: Animal Crossing. That's it, that's all I need, that's the only reason it needs to be better. GOTY 2013 right there, ladies and gents.

I think it went pretty well even though I still don't have everything I wanted this year.

Kid Icarus: Uprising
Resident Evil Revelaitons
Tales of the Abyss
New Super Mario Bros. 2
Code of Princess

I have Kingdom Hearts: DDD and the new Layton but I haven't played them yet.

I still gotta pick up
Virtue's Last Reward
Paper Mario: Sticker Star
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy
Harvest Moon: A New Beginning
Style Savvy: Trend Setters

and the eShop releases like the Guild01 games.

Wow this thread is so depressing, most of you bought really few games in the entire year. 3ds has the support? I'm sorry to say but maybe some of you confuse (japanese)sells with support.

The Japanese 3DS has a crazy ass lineup for 2012. The games DO exist. Just not in English :x

I'm pretty disappointed. The 1st quarter started out ok and then it all went downhill from there. Since then, it's been slim pickings with nothing exciting for the holiday. I wish there was something to get me excited again.

To be honest, I'm a little disappointed. I've gone 100% handheld and want to spend 60/40% time between the Vita and 3DS. Once I beat NSMB 2 and 3D Land, I wasn't interested in anything else. I didn't like the fact Castlevania is a spin-off of the console game.

Regarding ports and remakes, I'd love a Mario Sunshine 3DS game along with Majora's Mask.

If you are *not* buying the 3DS for Mario and Kid Icarus, and the similar.... than what are you getting a 3DS for... \:... wtf?

Fire Emblem Awakening. Shin Megami Tensei 4. Etrian Odyssey 4. Soul Hackers. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy. Fantasy Life. Crimson Shroud. Pushmo y Crashmo.

I'm going with this guy. As a gaming-dad about five games in one year is a lot to purchase and play completely. I'm pretty happy with the line-up. But I probably do a lot less hours than single college kid (which I assume is most gaf).

I'll give you everything but Fire Emblem (Nintendo) there, but nothing but Fire Emblem honestly interests me in that list.

I'm married-GAF, but gaming time isn't the premium it used to be. I really don't buy a game unless I plan on putting some time in to it.

Only bought one retail game this year (Resident Evil Revelations).
However eshop is really what feed my 3DS this year.
Art of Balance Touch and Mighty Switch Force are both great games and this holiday releases (Denpa Men, Crimson Shroud and soon Nano Assault Ex) are real treats.

Not to speaks about Crashmo, Hydroventure, Gunman Clive and many others.

Resident Evil: Revelations is the only game I bought this year, though I'll get Virtue's Last Reward from my girlfriend this christmas and since that one is pretty much my most wanted game of the year, I wouldn't call it a bad year nevertheless.

I've also got review copies of Theatrythm and Spirit Camera lying around, but since I didn't buy them I won't count them. Theatrythm is seriously great, though.

And then there's Tales of the Abyss, which I bought last year but still haven't finished. Ironically, I started playing the PS2 version by now which I immediately enjoyed much more. The loading times are worse, but the higher resolution and the higher FOV makes it much more enjoable to play for me. I hate the cropped and more pixelated picture of the 3DS version.

There are plenty of eShop games I'm interested in, but I don't buy games on Nintendo's eShop anymore until they introduce a more customer-friendly way to restore bought games on another system.

In general, I'd have bought much more games if 3DS games weren't so expensive. I'd like to pick up Kid Icarus for example, but I don't see myself ever paying 40€ for it.

Kid Icarus has more content than any other game on the system, I struggle to see why thats the game you draw a line over price wise :/

Because it just doesn't interest me enough to pick it up for full-price, quite simple. The amount of content hasn't much to do with it.

I'm sure the game is worth its money, but I just know that I'll always rather spend my 40€ on something else when I have the chance.

3DS did perfectly fine this year.

It just really depends on what people are interested in, some people will call it a F others an A+ because the games didn't interest them.

Same with Vita, others will call it a failure because it didn't bring any games that 'wowed' them, others will call it great because of the games it did bring.

I've only had my 3DS XL since August, so I'm playing catch up on games. I only have 3 right now. KH 3D, RE: Revalation and Final Fantasy Theatrythum. Next year seems just as good with Fire Emblem and Mirror of Fate. There is also a Zelda coming, doubt it'll make 2013 though.

i haven't played my 3ds much in the past few months. the holidays really picked up with vita releases, so i've been playing that instead. i really hope we get a 3ds pokemon game next year. pokemon 3ds could be my most anticipated game right now.

great year for me.

at retail I picked up:
kid icarus uprising
re revelations
code of princess
rhythm thief and the emperor's treasure
professor layton and the miracle mask
FF theatrhythm
NSMB2 (terrible, lazy presentation but really great level design and gameplay)
paper mario sticker star

on the download side, I picked up mutant mudds,, ketzal's corridors, crashmo, all 3 guild 01 games (crimson shroud being my runaway favorite), and i'll be getting the new fluidity when it releases later this month.

early 2013 is looking good as well with fire emblem awakening, monster hunter 3 ultimate, and luigi's mansion 2 all in the first few months. and, with any luck, animal crossing makes it over before the summer.

I imported at release and I'm going to say that the second year is probably one of my favourite systems of all time.

New Love Plus, Fire Emblem Kakusei, Project Mirai, Etrian Oddesy 4, Rune Factory 4, Senran Kagura Burst, EX Troopers, Bravely Default, Project X Zone, Animal Crossing Tobidase, New Super Mario Bros 2, Kid Icarus and various eShop games.

I've also got Layton vs Ace Attorney but haven't had the chance to play it yet.

I was interested in Paper Mario (I've played and enjoyed all of the predecessors) but initial impressions and reviews threw me off. Was I wrong? Should I check this game out?

I'm really enjoying it - the main complaint seems to be that it's a lot different to the old Paper Mario games, but I've never played them. It's a lot more challenging and fun than I expected.

Don't listen to them. Some people are simply too closed-minded and couldn't have possibly been satisfied by anything other than a sequel in the exact same vein as the first two games. The sticker system is outright brilliant, perfectly balanced and it gives the game a really unique feel.

Only title I've picked up this year has been RE:Revelations. However I plan on getting Super Mario Sticker Star and Layton 5. I haven't played my 3DS probably in 6 months, but I blame my backlog of 360/Wii U games on that.

It seems like we're setting the bar lower and lower these days.

Exactly my thoughts. We've been waiting for Animal Crossing since launch... and who knows how long Zelda, Metroid, and etc. is going to take.

It's getting pretty sad.

Edit: I'm glad some people are getting enjoyment out of the stuff that did come out this year, but a lot of us are not seeing anything interesting.

I bought something like 10 games excluding eShop games. So yes, 3DS has the support.
Then they are not so interesting for most of the people here ;)

Too bad the 3ds is region locked, so if you don't have a japanese 3ds(like most of the non-japanese 3ds owners) it's like those games didn't exist(region unlocked consoles do not improve that much the situation for games heavy on texts to be honest)
