We did? I like to see how they did those. To do it properly, they'd need to redraw every sprite twice slightly angled. If they just shifted the sprites left and right (like you can get away with in a side scroller) then the effect would look like total rubbish.

I'm personally surprised it hasn't happened yet. We got leaked Wii specs within a month of E306.

They had videos of the games running in 3D. There were no reports of the earthquake effect. I posted a link about 2 or 3 pages back

There are two ways I can think of to do stereoscopic 3D effects with top-down games: use parallax scrolling and scaling effects on just about every area (possible, but might look gimmicky), or draw every background and sprite twice from slightly different angles. The latter might work for a demo, but would probably require a greater than feasible amount of work for a full game; this would also probably necessitate drawing everything in proper perspective, which would be an additional limitation on the artists.

Nope, not at all. The less pixels you have, the harder it is to represent things like different angles and accurate perspective.
