Also, this.

I want at least 128. The minimum for a modern Handheld imo. So, now that the SDK is available for developers, can we expect some specs leaks? :D

Under penalty of Iwata sucking out your soul and deep frying it, yes.

It can also lead to fewer and shorter load times as well. The ARAM in the GCN was there primarily for caching and is one of the big reasons that load times were so short on the system. Load times in most Cube games would have been much more frequent and lengthy without it.
Doesn't the PSP-2000+ get lower loading times than the PSP-1000 thanks to the increased RAM?

Well, we did got Wii specs leaks. And Nintendo had a good reason to hide those. And I don't see the why they would try to hide 3DS one. Or are they concerned of the people that might go " OMG, My Galaxy S Hummingbird pwns the crap of it!".

You dare question the will of Iwata?!

Doesn't your work require you to pay attention anyway? Or is Vooks.net not your day job?

No it's my 'everytime I'm not sleeping or 'working' job. :/

Because lower amounts weren't in production or something like that.
They would actually have to have them specially made, rather than just taking them off shelf (which is unbelievably cheaper).
I see, but I thought for platforms like 3DS they would have to be custom built anyway? To fit the specific design, unless it is small enough already, IDK.

Nintendo really wants us to think that developping for their consoles = bath of $$$ ?

If they do, it's not without reason. Create your titles early on into the system's life, make them good (as opposed to mediocre, cheap cash-ins), and try to build an audience on the system for your products... and yes, you could likely make a lot of money. Don't do this? Yeah, welcome to the Wii Part 2.

I believe, and I could be wrong here, that ram is one of those things that isn't custom built for a platform. I was under the impression that outside of the cpu/gpu a lot of the other chips going into a system were off the shelf to save on costs.

Exactly. We have many examples of this in the current gen, early in the console cycle is the best time to establish a franchise, due to less competition I guess.

Gears of War (1 year in 360 life cycle), Resistance (PS3 launch), Uncharted (1 year), Etc.

Even for well known franchises (to us), it would be a good time to expand the audience, IMO.

Samsung still manufactures 512Mbit LPDDR2 chips for example. And I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo used something exotic like 1T-SRAM instead of off the shelf parts.

It's because of the early launch hype. Gamers are especially more likely to pick up a system during that time period, and getting them on-board with your software is a very good way of providing a foundation for the entirety of the system's life. Considering how many franchises have already been announced for the thing, it's clear that the Japanese 3rd parties - for the most part - get this.

I was hoping with the 3DS being backwards with DS games, I could get rid of the XL. I see that the bottom screen is very small. Damnit, why can't one system to ALL!!! Imagine a Nintendo machine that could play ALL Ninty potable along with the new stuff?

The 3DS will do that just fine once the homebrew community get on the task.

We didn't really get the full specs though. We know the basics, but nothing else beyond that. I think Nintendo will also hold out on 3DS specs because by now, most people have learned not to care. Well, except maybe the uber nerds.

Your right, but the smaller bottom screen sucks. Regarding the homebrew stuff as cool as it is, I would rather is just be provided by Nintendo with a flexible model.(Yeah right) I like everything "official" as corny as it sounds.

Okay just small like the the DS phat small. I was hoping it would be the size of the DSi bottom screen.

Yeah, it's a bit irritating especially since most of my gaming will be using original DS software initially. Using a smaller screen to play Picross is gonna be such a pain. This alone almost has me thinking about waiting for the first revision...although it's more likely that I'll buy the 3DS day 1 and pick up the revision day 1 as well. Sucks to be a consumer whore.

I really hope they will need a long long time to crack that badboy.
I kind of hope so too, I hate hacks when you "shouldn't update" but then you just keep waiting, and it's annoying. I just want to enjoy my 3DS in peace, without worrying about whether I am missing out on teh hacks!

Is that a good thing? I read the Wikipedia article on it, but I'm not exactly sure as to what it means for real-time graphics.

I only know of it through my time with Blender. can't really explain it (though I use it a lot)

Has there been any capture footage of pilotwings or star fox? I caught a glimpse of Steel Diver, Zelda, Mario Kart, and Paper Mario thus far.
