40 Minute QuakeCon Skyrim Demo

I have like no attention span and have a really hard time watching videos of people playing games, but god damn that audience made this fun to watch.

Holy shit my eyes got wide at the section where he demonstrated the constellation perk trees. Mother of God, even their presentation of the menu systems is absolutely boss.

Stop screaming people, geez, hahaha.

Edit: Damn, that looks awesome. Guess I'll grab the PS3 version now, and the PC version down the line during a Steam sale.

It's always going to be the most stable version to show in demos. Closed system, and they are very familiar with the MS tools. Closer to release you'll see PS3 and more importantly, optimized PC media.
Yeah this happens with all games. It's much easier and more reliable to bring 360s around to demo a game than it is to set up PCs.

Stopped watching a little after the dragon fight. Saw up to where he hits some guy with a bow, and the person standing next to his target does nothing in reaction except wait to get killed.

Outside of that one incident it looked real good. Dynamic weather seems very cool and performance looks far superior to Oblivion's. Hopefully that performance increase transfers to PCs as well! Either way, looks like we are in for a treat.

Most impressive thing to me was the UI and quick menu transitions, especially the map.

That looked incredible. I was pretty pumped for this game beforehand, but now I can't wait. So many great games coming this year.

Why on earth would they not show this to the public?

They're going to when they finish editing it. They just don't want janky cell phone movies giving their game a bad image.

lol at some booing that he was showing 360 version. I think those people wanted to see PC version

If thats the 360 version it looks phenomenal. I might have to get it for 360 instead of pc. Game looks great! I never cared for Oblivion or Fallout but this game feels smoother than those two did in terms of controls and combat. Day 1.

So, uh, I was kind of iffy about the game. But man, after just 10 minutes, sold. So, so sold.

Oh God when the hell am I going to have time to play all these games.

Great crowd, really getting into it. This game looks great for an Xbox title in motion.

That said, ugh at the combat animations. That dude in the cave was scooting around and facing the wrong way and all kinds of wonky shit.

Word of warning, at around the 26 minute mark the video pauses but the audio continues. It picks up about 90 secs later.

EDIT: Actually, the video and audio goes out of sync after that. Sorta ruins it.

Howard: "It's running on the 360"
Crowd Reaction: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Iwata: (Laughs)
That was pretty good and even on the 360 the game looks decent.

Seems like they nailed the system for switching between spells and weapons on the fly. Great to see.

The UI and menus in general are looking really nice.

Indeed.

I wasn't a fan of Oblivion or Fallout 3's menus. Even after dozens of hours I would still have to flip through every section to find the one I was looking for.

Dark Brotherhood confirmed... damnit. Now I have to buy it. Does anyone know if the same guy who did the original quest line in Oblivion is doing it for this one?

I'm sorry, but this game is simply going to kick everything else's ass for me this year. I think Dark Souls will come pretty close and I am ecstatic for it, but in terms of the overall experience, quality and content, I just don't see anything else touching Skyrim. It is plain as day beyond a shadow of a doubt that they went balls to the wall with this game.
