40 Minute QuakeCon Skyrim Demo

I like the look of the ui but I hope you don’t have to zoom into each star in the constellations just to view the perks. That could get really tedious at level ups when deciding what to pick.

I'm not sold on the battle animations in Skyrim, in first or third person. They look slow and clunky. The combat we've seen in Dark Souls and Demon's Souls blows it out of the water IMO.
 
Uh, wut.. I've seen all this stuff minus a bit of filler in the other vids, same heavily scripted sequence. Looks ok.

Lol at Todd saying they've made their best CE yet....
 
Looks like an Elder Scrolls game.

Fighters, Mages, Thieves, and the Dark Brotherhood are in the game for sure. Wonder if we'll get any more factions.

Would love to see something like the Morag Tong vs. The Dark Brotherhood type of quest line, but that wouldn't really fit the lore.
 
Crowd was annoying.

Looks great, but I'm not going to buy into the hype (yet). I'll wait a few weeks or months after it comes out before I dive in so that any glaring issues hopefully get swiftly patched.

Wasn't much to miss.. Boring scripted vid, washed out bad resolution etc, and a run through of the same sequences we've seen before just in a single run through and live so you get a bit of extra stuff. Don't get me wrong, game looks great, but it's funny they're showing this off at quake con, thought they'd do something a bit more interesting.
 
They said they were gonna plan to show this video to the public in all its HD glory soon enough. So if anyone didn't get to see the shaky cam version, you'll definitely appreciate the official release of the video.

I think it is obvious that the combat in Dark Souls will be superior, but as for the overall experience, quality and content, I think Skyrim will simply be the better game for me. That said, I still expect Dark Souls to be firmly right behind Skyrim for my best game of the year. I have both pre-ordered and absolutely cannot wait.

It would fit the lore pretty well actually if my recollection of it is correct. That is, that much of Dunmer have been driven out of Morrowind and are taking refuge all across Tamriel. It wouldn't be that far fetched to have the Morag Tong in Skyrim as it is a neighboring country.

Hrm? I believe it went back to its old ways where you could buy your way in. The press conferences aren't, which is why you don't see these reactions. Otherwise it's pretty much the same whenever shit happens on the floor.

I agree, they have very different goals, so they should compliment each other.With this, Dark Souls and The Witcher 2, this is my favorite year in gaming in a long time.

I have it, but it's 679mb and I'm too stupid/cheap to have a way to upload it to a filehosting site. Mediafire is capped at 200mb.

i don't know how to download the file from chrome. apparently the source file is still there as i was able to buffer it through lol.

Seriously, I hadn't been following this much at all, but wow.
Now I want it so much, but know I won't be getting it until Christmas... Due to the way I've planned other purchases for November.
 
I never understood why developers pull videos like this. If your going to show a 40minute video to fans at a convention you might as well release it for everyone else. Do they think it will hurt the game when quite clearly it will do the opposite it's basically free advertising.
 
The UI looks great. I love the constellation skill tree design. Not sure what to think of combat yet, but the dual wielding system is awesome.

Wonder if I'm going to have to upgrade my Q6600 for this...

But if you're a development studio, would you want your fans and doubters to see a demonstration like this in shaky cam or full HD?
