That was one of the problems that has been highlighted. Apparently it is something to do with the Gamma curves. Try disabling VRR or GYSNC on your grfx cardThis would be an appropriate thread for this question I think, I've got an LG 65CX and a RTX3080 connected together with a HDMI 2.1 cable. It seems to work fine most of the time, a few handshaking issues now and then but on the whole it's ok. But on certain dark screens I notice the screen is flickering, wasn't there something to do with lowering the refresh rate slightly to 119hz or was I imagining that?
Honestly if 120fps 4K hdr 10 bit 4:4:4 is what you want, you pretty much have to go CX

I've got a 48" CX and a 3080 and I turned off Gsync. I read that there are issues with Gsync still. I noticed that it's not smooth, even at high frame rates. I'm running most games well over 4k 100 fps and as soon as I turned off Gsync everything became butter smooth. I looked it up and read that they promised a fix before the end of the year. With high fps you can't really notice any tearing or anything anyway.
Good. Something will be figured out I reckonThanks turning off G-Sync has stopped the flickering, I really hope that there's a fix incoming for this.
I have a q70 and its running great at 4k HDR VRR 120hz. Its the first time I have gotten to use the features.I have been reading the last couple of days that some tvs are struggling with those settings, and that the LG OLEDS are having a problem with the gamma too.
I have a 2020 Samsung Q80T, and apparently those are having display problems also. But on the other hand, I have read about people on 2020 LG nanocells that don't have problems and people with 2020 sony tvs also saying that everything is fine.
I will be picking up my console in a couple of hours and will report back my findings. But if anyone else is having problems or not, please post them.
Known Issues on Xbox Series X|S
Last Updated: 3/22/2021 at 5:00PM PST Hi there, It's an exciting time. The Xbox Series X|S consoles have both launched and we hope you're enjoying your time with the next generation of gaming. In theanswers.microsoft.com
Nice, I just got the Q80T earlier this year so I'm glad to hear it's running smooth.A quick update.
Just played gears 5 at 120hz and it was pretty damn amazing. Smooth as silk and no problems on Samsung Q80T.
Yeah it is quite depressing. TV manufactures just can't get it working well.
Sonys x900h (xh900x in europe) 120Hz mode seems to be there for PS5, so it seems they ignored the HDMI 2.1 specification just to get it working. But it should be updated in the next few month ... well I guess this means years or never.
Hard reset should fix it. It’s always been my go to, especially with green screen shit.My 85series nano cell and my brother in law's nano cell are having issues. First it was green screens when loading games, the they wouldn't recognize a signal and for some reason it we look up or there's a dark scene the tvs starts flickering
Ty but we both tried it. The green screens only happen when a game is loading, otherwise it's fine. But the screen screen will sit there for a bit then change to the gamesHard reset should fix it. It’s always been my go to, especially with green screen shit.
Hold down the power button for 7-10 secs and boot it from scratch.
Strange, my 2019 B9 handles VRR just fine from an XSX 4k@60fps, perhaps you can elaborate?VRR is fucked on all 2019 and 2020 OLEDs because LGs panels which all manufacturers use are at fault.
It’s all based on one video about the 3080 not handling the input well, and before last weeks update came out.Strange, my 2019 B9 handles VRR just fine from an XSX 4k@60fps, perhaps you can elaborate?
There was an update this week. So both can be true, before the update it might have been a problem. Now there might not be.I see a lot of people saying it's working without problems (not just here but on other sites, too) but I'm not sure if that's them just enabling VRR, seeing a picture, and saying there's no problem or if it's actually them doing that and then looking to see if the gamma issue is visible. It feels like the former but it's hard to know.
Same. Only problem i have is the annoying instant game response pop up everytime u start a game etc.Did a quick test with Doom Eternal on XSX and I got 4K 10bit HDR 120 Hz FreeSync/VRR without issues on LG CX.
Very smooth. You should be good to go no matter which console you pick upNice, I just got the Q80T earlier this year so I'm glad to hear it's running smooth.

I don’t have my system yet, so I can’t test it personally.

I already did that last night..Try Gears 5 after setting FPS in settings to 120.
What's the latest firmware for the CX then? Information seems "sketchy".

Have you set your console to 120hz?I loaded Ori on the XSX on my C9 and it said 120hz 4K not detected and set it to 4k super sampled.
I could go in and choose 120hz 4k mode manually and I could play the game but no idea if it was 120hz.
What size? Just got the 49 and collecting this evening. Do you have to do anything once enabling vrr on the series x?A quick update.

my nano85 is having no issues with 4k/120/vrr/hdr

Got a Nano86 coming Friday, looks like I'll be all good
Have you set your console to 120hz?
Yes, I'm aware of this issue and I don't really see it here. I imagine a near-stable 60fps will not trigger this as much as an very unstable 120fps, which is where I heard this was more of a problem.VRR fucks with the near black gamma values on 2019/2020 OLEDs. Best case you "just" get a little brighter more greyish blacks, worst case you get flickering parts on the screen.
Agreed. You can barely notice it, only if you really look for. This gamma issue is over blown. I have been using VRR on my C9 for over 12 months and never even noticed this, and I am a stickler when it comes to things like this. I have had multiple TVs professionally calibrated.
Just turned mine on, xbox is saying TV doesn't support 120hz and I can't find the option for game mode.I have the 55".
Nope, just activate game mode on the tv, then just check the boxes in the console and you are good to go dude. Make sure that you do the firmware update on the tv to.
Enjoy, although not top of the range, the Q80T is pretty decent tv that does nice HDR and is smooth for gaming. Enjoy!!
Ok, game mode is in the 3rd or 4th menu down in the settings. You will have to select input signal plus too. If I remember correctly, I think that the 49” tv has a 60hz panelJust turned mine on, xbox is saying TV doesn't support 120hz and I can't find the option for game mode.
I think that that is a good idea. We are less than 5 months from 2021 modelsJust cancelled my CX 55" order.
I think it will be more wiae to wait a little more and see what the 2021 line up will bring with it.
Yes I've just found out the 49" is a 60hz panel. Not sure how it can be sold on the same model as 120hz panels.Ok, game mode is in the 3rd or 4th menu down in the settings. You will have to select input signal plus too. If I remember correctly, I think that the 49” tv has a 60hz panel

This gets worse the lower the VRR has to regulate the HZ. So ironically now you need higher fps to have a stable/good image which is exactly what VRR was supposed to fix to get around VSYNC.
It´s also not patchable by just rolling out new gamma curves in the firmware as it`s a major oversight on pixel-control level. And since LG provides the panels for all other manufacturers......well.
Maybe Panasonic will get around this as they are one of the very few who make their own low level PCBs, but in general VRR will drag down the picture quality on all oleds until new panels come out.
I bought a 77” GX. That guy is totally full of shit. And literally everything works on my series X. VRR, ALLM, 120hz etc etc. Licture is amazing, almost zero input lag. So glad I got this TV before the new consoles dropped.I wouldn't put too much stock in what that guy says.
Is your hdmi port set to deep color?Well this is now a complete mystery, I upgraded my PC yesterday and did of course a total rebuild / reinstallation. ASUS RTX3080 and LG 65CX with HDMI 2.1 cable and the latest Nvidia drivers 457.30. Now I don't even get the option for 120hz on the TV, it's locked at 60 or below. WTF am I doing wrong here?
