Marantz/Denon aren't making the best impression w/my parents these days.

Bought them this year's receiver last month, and just got this notice from Amazon:

"The circuit boards used in both the Marantz SR6012 and the Denon AVRX4400H could potentially develop an issue within a few weeks of you installing the product."

UGH.

I thought Marantz/Denon meant quality. Not product recalls. Time to contact support and see how much of a hassle it's going to be/what the fix entails.

I wasn't sure if I should post this here, a different thread, or make a new thread about it myself.

So I came across this thread on another forum. Shows some pretty interesting leaks. Well, "leaks" cause I have no way to tell if its fake or not. Anyways according to this guy, other major studios are finally adapting the Disney Movie Anywhere model to allow purchases across platforms (like UV but for the legit services like Amazon, iTunes, etc.) Seems VUDU leaked it.

Evidence?

So yeah... Anyone know anything about this? Google turned up absolutely nothing on this.
That's DMA without being limited to just the "D." Supposed to have all major studios except Paramount.

Ordered 6 UHD movies from the Amazon sale. For some reason, they decide to split it up, and send me 4 in one package and 2 in another. Both were scheduled to arrive today, but only the package with 4 made it. Supposed to get the other 2 tomorrow, but come on. At least I got an extra month of Prime out of it.

Got my baby driver 4k from best buy today, gonna pop it in later tonight and give it a go. Never did see the movie in theaters.
I didn't either. I heard it's awesome. But, movies come out so quick now. If it's coming out on 4K, it's getting pretty easy to just wait and watch it at home.

Finished the movie, absolutely loved it.

4k looks beautiful on it, no issues that I could notice.

The neon signs of the diner and other lights really pop out and the cinematography along with the soundtrack really works well in atmos.

The movie itself, I went in thinking it was going to be more of an actiony-movie and didn't expect more of a romance movie that it is, so that was a pleasant surprise for me, it worked well.

Yes, it's a good 4k player, just be aware it does not support DV though, which can be a bummer for some newer movies that offer that.
Ah. My TV is HDR10 only with no plans of upgrading soon, so that should be fine. I'd probably get a new player once I get a new TV eventually.

If Apple/iTunes is on board with that.. oh boy. That's exciting.

Will be interesting to see what that does to the price of code sellers. iTunes codes currently go for much less than Vudu.

I assume they will be, because A) they’re already on with disney movies Anywhere (in fact they were the first) and this is just an expanded rebranding of that, the tech is the same. And B) they were on that leaked webpage posted last page

Not having to pick and choose between Vudu and iTunes will be nice. But I'm guessing this will standardize pricing across the two services.

Just got a Vizio M 55". God damn the good 4k players are nearly as expensive. Probably just going to steam 4K for a year until prices Drop to 200 or so.

I discovered an issue with my Xbone and my Pioneer VSXLX101 while watching Baby Driver this morning on Blu-Ray. The Decoded audio was DTS but there was no sound coming from the receiver. When i went into the Blu-Ray setting and unchecked "let receiver do decoding" there was sound but it wasn't in DTS instead Dolby. I am at a loss on how to fix this. any ideas??

the movie's audio output is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 which I believe the receiver decodes

Your receiver will do DTS HD. I haven't messed with the blu ray player on the XBO in about two years, but I remember it doing the decoding on board and outputting it as a PCM track usually. I think there is a setting to have it change it to DD output, but unsure about it doing straight bitstream out and letting the receiver do the work.

Also, even if your receiver didn't do DTS HD and only did plain DTS, the track should still work since DTS HD is backwards compatible.

Look out of the LG UP970. It's what I use and it's been fine. I got it for $230. Could possibly be lower for Black Friday? I believe it's also the only one besides the Oppo that offers HDR10 AND DV.

Unless you just want the Panasonic or Oppo because their top of the class atm.

I guess my question is what's different? Is it solely the quality of the audio components? Because if that's the case I don't care too much - it's the living room with some old stereo Klipsch speakers. I'm holding out for affordable 65" OLED 4K for the gaming room which has great speakers already.

Or does the midrange 4K BD players lack new HDR/DV features? If that's the case I'd wait then. While the M series Vizio has good contrast (but not great) and poor brightness for bright rooms, it has all of the new standards or at least that's my understanding.

Or is the midrange 4K feature rich but just super laggy with loading apps/videos?

If you're just using digital, audio should be identical.

The difference in high end players is build quality, noise, upscaling quality, load times, DV support & better customer support in the case of Oppo, and a very minor, arguably negligable, uptick in detail.

When did you buy it and is it noisy?
I heard that when it first came out it ran like a jet engine but that later revisions might have helped.

Also possibly some DV display issues. Any trouble there?

I guess the only thing I care about is load times. I'll try to lookup specifics if I decide to purchase. Wish rtings.com did 4K BD.

It wasn't jet engine from fans, it was rattle from the disc drive. Later revisions corrected the manufacturing defect responsible. If you buy one today you'll be fine.

This can’t be true
HighDefDigest posted about it on FB yesterday, so I expect it is.

Edit - here's the text of the post

Not great news on the T2 4K front (and I'm not sure if this affects the international 3D version), but I spoke with Lionsgate's PR firm personally and they guaranteed this is still happening... They just don't have a specific date anymore. Here's the direct quote:

"[T2 4K Blu-ray] will still be released at some point in the near future and we will be sure to update you when we have more information."

I need help GAF.

I've turned over every stone in the US and I can't find the Blade Runner 4K UHD Blu-ray. As such, I've decided to try to source the UK Special Edition.

Unfortunately I can't pick it up via Amazon.uk. Is there another good source for these that will ship to the US?

The UK Special Edition 4K is a better and more complete set than the US version, anyway. I got it imported for that reason.

Can't help you with sources, though. Got mine from amazon UK.

Can anyone in the Bay Area help me out? Rent Blade Runner 4k to me please...lol. I'll pay $10.

I'm trying to watch Blade Runner for the first time ever..but at its highest quality (have been holding off all these years on purpose)...then hurry up and watch the sequal while it's still in IMAX theaters.

Target.com is messing with me. They said they had Blade Runner 4K in Stock a couple of weeks ago and so I ordered it for $40. Was suppose to get it earlier this week. Now they are saying *maybe* late October.

Only reason I ordered it was so I could catch the sequel in IMAX.

I have to make a decision soon. Maybe just watch it in 1080p.

I spent all year looking for a copy (any copy!) of Blade Runner everywhere. I ended up just using Brickseek last week to see if I could find anything, and I found a Walmart that had the standalone Blu-ray/DVD combo pack of The Final Cut for $7.88 in their bargain and got that. So maybe give that a try? Here's the SKU: 15603952. It has the wrong picture on the site, though.

I was happy to have finally watched it. Haven't gone to see Blade Runner 2049 yet, but my older brother did last weekend with a friend after we watched the first one together. He really liked both. I might go watch Blade Runner 2049 sometime next week with my younger brother, who also wanted to watch both.

I'm surprised you weren't able to find any. Bestbuy alittle south from me had it a few weeks back. I got distracted that weekend and it was gone. For some reason i thought I could find it anywhere. Since it's just a disc dang it. Why so far to print copies????

All I ever found at Best Buy was one or two copies on DVD, which I passed on since I wanted it on Blu-ray. I'm not buying anything on DVD anymore that I can get on Blu-ray.

Vudu will rent you the UHD version for $10. It's not the same as the 4k disc but you still get dolby vision and atmos if either or both of those matter and I'm sure the picture will be comparable at minimum.

That would've been perfect. I would've been fine with that in this scenario.

Unfortunately, at my cousin's (where I would watch it) His Comcast internet service has had issues with his DirecTv Tv services lately. So no 4k speed internet for us. Thankx for the heads up though.

Wow this is just bad luck. I have an opportunity to supposedly get it by Oct. 20th.

But I just checked IMAX's website for the Sequel and it seems Oct 18th (SF) and 19th (alittle further & not true IMAX screen) are the last days they will have it on IMAX.

At least I have a date now for when it ends on IMAX. I can cancel my Target order.

I guess I can just....
...watch it it out of order. >_<

Edit- no, will get BluRay Version or stream HD version.

I preordered Spider-Man: Homecoming from Best Buy in 4k bluray and I got a 4k digital Fandago code free with it. Links with Vudu/Ultraviolet and is pretty damn sweet.

If anyone is thinking of picking the movie up that deal might be worth a look.
