5:30am - Your package is out for delivery.

They have to change the number again because it might get assigned to a different driver/truck.

Dear Sweet Linus, you're a craven fellow.

USPS is terrible. Never got my iPhone 5 (which I paid unlocked for) and it even says delivered on the site. My Mail carrier said he never delivered a package either and USPS isn't doing anything about it since it says delivered.

They're supposed to call me in the morning and explain the situation to me. We'll see if that even happens since they've already forged changes to the tracking page to cover themselves.

Forged? Do you mean that the website changed your delivery date to tomorrow?

He's an asshole because UPS (if we take the OP info at face value) is fucking him and he called to find out about it in which case he learned about UPS fucking him?

It is baffling.

IMO OP is well within his rights if he paid for specific shipping. He PAID to get said item on said day and didnt get it...Thats not entitlement by any stretch of the word.

I assume that an iPhone 5 requires a signed delivery?

Fucking him because he has to wait over night to get his useless package? Man, what an awful life OP must have.

People like him are what make working in retail a living hell. They are gigantic assholes that seem to think the world starts and ends with them, and don't care to treat innocent people like complete shit.

Our delivery guy for home packages is a great guy. He knows that unless it's huge and desperately needs a signature then he'll have to take it back for us to pick it up between 6-7am. Every other time he places it near the enclosed front door.

Op is being gang stalked by ups agents, probably even monitoring this thread, maybe even posting in it. Check your power outlets for blockages and make sure your shoes aren't tied together.

Nope, ordered it online from a woman in Florida (for cheaper than retail)

Lol dude..c'mon..

Dude, you're going just as extreme as the op, just to the opposite end. There are places out there where if you pay for a service you do actually get said service. I realize America is a customer service hellhole, but we do have a culture of allowing more fuckups than we should.

My tracking through Amazon had the Out for Delivery deleted.

kmIwl.jpg

On the actual UPS tracking page, it used to show the 4:20am arrival scan, maybe a destination scan (can't remember now), and then an Out for Delivery scan at 5:53am this morning. Now it's changed to an arrival scan at 4:20am and then . . . no destination scan until 8:39pm, 16 hours later - as if - and they changed the delivery to tomorrow. Whatever.

OK OP, this is how tracking and delivery works:

Say your tracking number is ABC123. It shows as out for delivery and it doesn't arrive.

You call UPS, complain.

The guy at UPS has to do the following:

1. Mark tracking number ABC123 as not delivered. This way it is already flagged when the driver comes back to check his vehicle for. Or to see if it got messed up in the process between the sorting center and the truck.

2. Tracking number ABC123 is now thrown in an incomplete queue, so when UPS runs their data batch tonight, it shows up for their own tracking/auditing.

3. UPS gives your package a new tracking number DEF456, so it can get put out on a truck that might go by your place earlier inthe morning, or be marked as a priority delivery for that day. Priority deliveries will have an batch update that is run every couple of hours, as oppsed to once a day.

In the system, it has to reset, because they need to start the tracking process all over again. Under a new tracking number, on maybe a new truck, which they GPS track.

Don't self delude yourself into thinking UPS is trying to cover stuff up. It makes you look worse. Companies like UPS and FedEx track all those metrics.

I like USPS cause if they don't shove it through the mail slot I can just walk there and get it later that night.

I like FedEx cause I can have them deliver it to a nearby office, hold it there, and I'll get a call once I can pick it up.

Fucking UPS makes me drive fucking miles to pick it up from their sorting center.

Errr... Doesn't that sound shady as hell to you?

That does yeah, but it isn't like how it sounds, there's more to it. But um, she was actually making a lot of money and it paid off the other iphones in their family plan, but for me it was cheaper than buying it unlocked myself. And it was what it was, the package size and ship weight and everything matched the iPhone 5. I just never got it even though their tracking said out for deliver and delivered. Paypal probably won't do anything about it since it says Delivered on the tracking # too =\ And no it wasn't some falsley ID'd package, I didn't get any package or mail to me at all that day.

There is no conspiracy, dude. That is how it works. They have to rescan to reschedule delivery after a mistake has been made. This has happened to me plenty of times before.

Never had trouble with Fedex or UPS. Both pretty slick services.

Same. Never had any problems worth bitching about.

Quality service all around.

OP. Regardless of whether it said out for delivery today. (sorry if already asked) What type of shipping did you use and what day was it originally scheduled to deliver (usually its a range of a couple days unless you did overnight)?

Is there some history between you two that we should be aware of, or are you just attacking him for no reason? Cool it, seriously.

My post office just scans the box when it comes in and updates the tracking with a notice left at 8 AM message. They don't actually get to my house on their route until 3:30ish.

I got hot the first time thinking they lost my expensive ass package, but it was just how they do things. Wasn't the end of the world.

My sister had a ups guy wedge an amazon Kindle between two mailboxes though. Luckily the neighbors weren't assholes and could have snatched a box with an amazon logo on it.

I love UPS because they have keys to my building and the guy will delivery on schedule, I hate USPS because they scumbags never deliver and I have to pick up every fucking shit that doesn't fit in the mailbox, I don't like Fedex because they'll leave right away since they don't have keys to the building (bldg w/o intercom in NYC) I have to leave a note on the front door of the building so that they call.

8:30pm . . . nothing.

WTF is this?! You drive a truck around and drop off packages. Quit acting like this is a difficult thing to accomplish.

Having spent some time around UPS drivers...it's not that simple.

Did you require that the package had to be signed for on delivery?

Watch it be Amazon Super Saver shipping being the option he chose.

When your tracking says out for delivery at 5:30AM its not actually out for the delivery. It means it was scanned as it was being taking of a trailer. That package then travels via conveyer belts to the designated car and is loaded onto the package car. Some package cars will leave as early as 5:30 or 6am. They leave that early to deliver early morning air packages. AKA packages that the consumer paid a lot of extra money to have there before 9am. Your typical package car will leave between 8:30 - 9:30 AM. The driver will first deliver all of his next day air packages. AKA packages the consumer paid a lot of extra money to have delivered before 10am. Then the driver will deliver his business stops. His business stops may take him to noon or they make take him to 3pm. Now throughout the day the driver will also have pickups. Where he has to stop and pickup outgoing packages. Your typical UPS Driver may not start delivering residential stops until 2 - 3pm. Some days they may get down at 5pm and other days they may not get down to 8-9pm. It is not unusual for a UPS driver to work a 12 hour day. And with the holidays coming up their business is starting to pick up. And of course there are exceptions to the things I listed here. Every route and day is different.

Edit: It is important to know that Next Day service is different from Next Day Air. Next Day Air is guaranteed by 10am. Next day is guaranteed any time the next day.
