I think it looks pretty good. I take it that this is going to play like Burnout with guns?

yeah, with a rewind feature as well.

seconding jerkface, anyone know the deal with the rag-doll drivers? the thought of blowing some dude out of the car, or seeing the driver go flying like in those screens pleases me greatly.

Its the physics engine in this game thats interetsing as there a are pre canned animations. In the Demo wait till all the cars race past the gargae them blow the Petrol pumps up. Its amazing what happens and its different on each game, if your lucj the explostion will a cause structures from garage to collide with the other cars mathem ensues. I really enjoyed the demo and hope the full game is as much fun.

Yeah, definitely. And its a shame people arent noticing this more. The static visuals are decent but who gives a crap about screen caps in a game like this. This is the first 360 title that seems to really make use on the CPU end of things. The physics, collisions, particles etc. look a solid notch above anything Ive seen on the current gen. Its what next gen Burnout should be going for. Now I just hope it they can get it at 60fps cause all that chaos will look amazing at that rate.

exactly. more and more polys will only take you so far. soon we will be doubling poly counts for virtually no noticeable upgrade in quality whatsoever.

but having realtime environment deformations and dynamic collisions with deformed environment objects and whatnot.. not to mention people being blown from cars.. maybe even AI on the drivers themselves so they run when they get blown out (if they survive)..

so much that can be done to make a game next gen beyond just higher rez textures and more polys in the environments and models.

Man, this IS the next Carmageddon!

there needs to be a new carmegedon, and yeah, artistically, this almost fits the bill. i'd love to punt some pedestrians and get some cat n mouse bonuses :)

Damn. I take back the bad stuff I said about this game. It's shaping up graphically, but more importantly, it actually looks fun now. I guess I didn't get the whole concept before, but it might have had to do with everything looking shitty too. Now it looks like it would actually be a fun game to play. I might have to get that 360 sooner than I thought. PEACE.

A playable demo comes on this month's OXM disc. Pretty fun, actually. Once you get past how squirelly the cars are, then get used to the weapons, it's pretty fun in a Twisted Metal meets Burnout sort of way.

If they have some good parameters to tweak on the cars and more diversity in the tracks, I'll pick this one up; day-one. If not, I'll pick it up eventually, just to have a good on-line car combat game.

The games my friends enjoy most when coming over to play the 360 are DOA4, Live Arcade games Smash TV and Joust, and the Full Auto demo. Full Auto isn't so impressive texturewise, but when you play the entire screen if filled with gunfire, explosions, cars ripped apart, flying bits of glass, and every element from the envionment that you have either rammed into or blown up; it's intense and fun and definitely on my list to buy.

Hopefully this turns out better than the demo.

The CES build was so much better than the marketplace demo:

1. Smoother framerate - 45~60 with drop to 30s when things go crazy instead of drops to 20s of the demo.

2. None of that annoying short pauses during gameplay that I had in the demo.

3. Better reflections on your car when driving in 3rd person camera.

And the build featured mch more game modes then the demo as well. Really shaping up nicely.

The ad for the game in OXM says it's also 8 players on Live. I saw an interview with the developer who said 'no unwreck' for Live, just offline. Makes sense. Would be tough to do.

Do the explosions actually have a sound effect now? I enjoyed the OXM demo quite a bit, but something that bothered me (and bothers me in all of the video I've seen) is that the explosions are silent. You can hear tires screeching, engines revving, and glass shattering, but an entire gas station exploding next to you makes no sound. The only time a blast makes a sound is when get a close up of an opponent's car exploding, and even that's more of an accent effect than an explosion sound.

I'm really looking forward to the final version, but little things like that really bother me.

That's a good question, but I honestly can't remember. Listening to games in detail in that environment isn't the best case scenario in the first place, but that damn FN3 demo's loud announcer drowned out all other games in the X360 demo area. :lol

BTW, funny comment about FN3: you could watch the trailer at the PS3 demo kiosk, then come to the X360 area and play the demo. Many were laughing about that.

Burnout 3 + guns + Prince of Persia's time rewind + the color scheme, frame rate and appealing visual design of a Sega Model 3 racing coin-op = Full Auto.

I am so going to get this game.

Clean up the framerate and I'll atleast give it a rent. All that demo told me was that the game was too early to be demo'd. I'm a little concerned the gameplay will wear thin relativly fast also but that's why I'd rent it instead of purchase it.

Che was positive about it on the last 1up show so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Some new gameplay footage would be nice.

A more recent demo build for the Marketplace would be better.

There must be something wrong with me, I think it looks amazing. :(

There's nothing wrong with you. I think it looks awesome. And I LOVED the demo.

This was number 1 on my launch list and I can't wait to play it.

I don't know if anyone at Sega has done any actuall driving before.. but there is definately not enough sparks in this game.

It just looks so.... unpolished and rough. The graphics are OK for a PC game but it doesnt look anywhere near what the xbox 360 should be doing.
