I did a double take at that moment. Also Wtf I was supposed to be asleep nearly 2 hours ago...

Gravity was boring. There. I said it.

Not as much boring as bland. It was nearly devoid of characterization and was more of a spectacle than a truly great film. If it was a game, it'd be regarded as a soulless tech demo instead of an AAA title

Honestly I'd give best actress to Bullock for Gravity, but the goddess Cate Blanchett deserves it for her body of work.

This is like when Scorsese won Best Director for The Departed.

What the hell? If nothing else Gravity is a cinematic achievement in direction.

Why does everyone hate American Hustle? I'm yet to see it but I vaguely remember it getting a bunch of rave reviews or awards or something.. but most people I know who saw it didn't like it. What was up with it?

I really don't understand the point some are trying to make when they call Frozen "just a kid's movie".

Serious drama and tears are required to make a great piece of art now?
Are the plots from the majority of what you consider adults movie that more complex? Gravity (which I liked) could be understood by a 7 year old just the same. It's not like it's Winnie the Pooh vs. 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Frozen is very well made, has great characters, humor and a fantastic soundtrack. It's a great animated movie and deserves the 2 Oscars.

Yep, that's usually how it goes. There are a couple exceptions (like last year), but most of the time it's pretty clear.

And the DGA award is also the most reliable way of predicting Best Picture, which is why the smart money has been on Gravity winning BP and BD. We'll see what happens.

Also true.

that's why its winning the technical awards...?
