Although I think 12 Years is slightly better than Gravity, I'm kinda hoping Gravity wins Best Picture for the inevitable salt

Philomena gonna surprise and take that Best Picture award. I smell upsets.
As long as Captain Philips doesn't win I'm happy.

I loved Gravity but don't expect it to get much Oscar love, here's hoping for some awards for a fun sci-fi movie.

Yeah, he's got no chance.

You know I was thinking this too, but then I heard someone's reasoning that Ejiofor's film is already going to get so many accolades and Leo's role was pretty "out there" that he could have a chance. But yeah, he has no chance, poor Leo :p

What's with the Pacific Rim snub?

For VFX? The main reasoning I heard was that huge robots are just no longer impressive in the VFX community after so many Transformers movies. Compared to something like Gravity, which is a completely unique process. Or The Hobbit, which can lean on the 48-FPS angle. Even Lone Ranger got by on its' decadent practical effects.

If American Hustle wins anything other than screenplay I will be rather disappointed.

Who does the cinematography get awarded to?

I'm mostly in this to see what reaction gifs come out of it. Don't mind 12 Years A Slave winning a bunch. Blackfish and The Invisible War snubbed for a best doc nom, but you should see them post-haste.

Barkhad Abdi for best supporting actor in Captain Phillips, c'mon on! Haven't seen Jared Leto and he might be better, but man Abdi made for a great villain/character.

The reasoning behind Before Midnight as an "Adapted" screenplay is fucking hilarious.

Come on leo. This is your year.

Leo won't win this.

His performance in TWoWS is like his previous performances in most of his films.

If that didn't cut it before, i doubt it'll cut it now.

What's with the Pacific Rim snub?

Overrated by vocal minorities. Especially here in gaf.

I hope it doesn't win anything tbh. Really didn't like it.

Emmanuel Lubezki surely for Gravity.

Not even close. McConaughey or Ejiofor in an upset.

Having to kids and been to many birthday party's recently, if frozen doesn't get beat animated and best song I'll be shocked!

Surely the only givens.

As much as I would love for Leo to get his oscar, his performance isn't the best in the category.

McConaughey hopefully wins it.

Excited for Pharell's performance. Would love for him to win best song but I know that won't happen. Also Ellen should be a good host so it'll be entertaining.

Anywhere i can watch live-stream? Also, how many hours to go?

Don't really care about any nominations, except Animated feature and best song. I hope Frozen wins both.

I'd be ok with this, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the movie. Definitely my biggest surprise this year. However, I'm pretty sure 12 Years a Slave will win this thing.

I must add, that American Hustle is the most undeserving film of the awards praise it has received and is about to receive, in modern history.

Also, you people rooting for Frozen owe it to yourselves to go see The Wind Rises which is currently in theaters.

Of course the top categories are most exciting but I'm interested in which film will end up with the most wins overall.
