A-list actors who fell off the face the earth.

You're mixing Cuba with Terrence Howard....he's still doing ok. He did get dropped because he wanted too much money though. We know Marvel likes to skimp in that department.

Oh yeah. I need some more caffeine in my system.

edit: Wiki, list Christian Slaters arrest history as dragging him down, but it still seemed like he was getting box office roles. What am I missing?

I sat in on a Q&A she had up in Toronto about a year ago. She does work steadily - she's been starring in a show called Bomb Girls, a Canadian series which does pretty decent ratings-wise. From what I understand, she retired from acting for quite some time to raise her kids.

I was looking at her IMDB page and damn she was away for 15 years. I guess she was just retired and raising her kids.

I saw Earth Girls Are Easy on the other night and it made me think of this thread. Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, Julie Brown, Michael McKean and Charles Rocket. I know the sad story about Rocket, but it was full of so many familiar faces that you don't see as much anymore.

I'm not 100% sure if Alison Lohman counts as A-list, probably not, but I absolutely love her and think she's wonderful, and she just sort of vanished from movies. Off the face of the earth.

Married in 2009 and got a child so I'm sure it was intentional. And I liked her too.

Changing her look really affected her ability to be recognized but she's worked rather steadily. Mostly TV movies in the 90's and then tv series in the 2000's. She's married to Clark Gregg too.
She gets work, but it "TV movie' work. It is nowhere near a real Hollywood career. And yes, she is married to Clark Gregg. She didn't literally fell off the face of the Earth, we still know where she is. It is just not in famous-land anymore.

The first person that always comes to mind for me when this sort of topic is brought up anywhere is Gene Wilder. How in the world has he not been mentioned yet. One of the greatest comedic actors of all time, he all but entirely retired from acting way back in 1989 when Gilda Radner passed away.

Even though he is 81, I would still love to see him in just one more comedy.

Mr. Show even did a joke about how the ghost of Gene Wilder was already haunting people, because Gene hadn't done anything in "for-fucking-ever."

Guy was an amazing talent. Really sad to see him drop out of the race, like Moranis.

All these old guys need to give it up. There's nothing worse than an aging hipster as Dr evil would say. The 80s and 90s are over. I can't watch the expendables because its nothing but has beens and never was-es.

What do you think should happen to you once you turn 60? You should go to a nursing home and never set foot outside? I've never seen the Expendables but it's still kind of inspiring. Actors in their 60s still doing what they love to do and having a blast being badass action heroes in a movie again.

Warren Beatty - not seen or heard from since the Town & Country money pit, despite Quentin Tarantino's begging. Apparently, he's now writing, directing, and in the lead role in a movie about Howard Hughes' long-fingernail years.

That's your loss, the Expendables are awesome and their success shows there is an interest on them.

It will take a while, if it even happens, to see a generation of action heroes like them. Given how different action movies are now, it may not even happen.

I disagree. Steady work, whether TV Movies or TV Series (and she's been in more TV series than TV movies lately) is the sign of a healthy career. Of course that's not Dirty Dancing money but it's much more than most actors ever see. Especially TV Series. That's respectable work.

Three episodes of Phineas and Ferb, one of The New Adventures of Old Christine, one episode of House, three of John from Cincinnati, and one one season 1 show where she played herself. It is not like she is her husband who starred in two succesful shows. She had one failed shows and a handful of guest spots.

Keanu Reeves ticks all of your checkboxes (man hasn't aged a day, still has his hair, is bloody fit, hasn't got any plastic surgery, still looks okay, and is a decent man off the set) but has still faded into obscurity.

Because he's a terrible actor.

The show where she played herself was 2 seasons, which is more than most shows get. Aside from that, like I said, she's had steady work from Dirty Dancing onward. She had a brief gap from 2001/2 til 2006 but that's when she and Gregg had their kid.

The biggest reason why people don't know where she is, is because she looks completely different. If you look at her entire career, she's only had 3 notable movies. Red Dawn, Ferris Bueller, and Dirty Dancing. None of those movies are notable because of her though. She just stood out because she had a unique look. That look changed, and nobody noticed her anymore.

Thora Birch is very interesting. Wasn't A list exactly but her career was heading that way until her crazy family torpedoed her career.

I'd still make her my waifu, nutty parents and all.
I'd also make her go back to looking like Enid in Ghost World

Jodie Foster ? She did one of the greatest female characters of all time(clarice starling) but I hardly see her anymore.

Haley Joel Osment had so much potential.

and this guy :( :(

I doubt Jodie will ever start becoming a Hollywood workhorse actor like Tom Cruise. I think she just prefers directing. She was in Elysium last year. Movie kinda sucked though. Before that...Yeah I hadn't seen her anything since The Brave One. Which I thought she did a great job in.

She was in Elysium and she's behind the camera more nowadays.

He was in Amazon's Alpha House recently, but with this face:

She was in that teen book adaption with Shailene Woodley too this year.

Probably not A list but what happened to Minnie Driver? Don't recall her in anything after the Riches.

I'd probably add Lucy Liu, last I saw her in was Kill Bill.

Gene Wilder
Joe Pesci
Steve Guttenberg
Charles Grodin

Those are good choices, and all people I would really like to see again. I would actually love to see a movie only starring those four people. It could be the next Glengarry Glen Ross.

Surprised by all the Michael Keaton posts. He's been having a nice little comeback. Birdman looks amazing.

Everyone is either retired, old, or past their prime. Which is sad. But if i had one wish, It would be one more Scorsese mafia flick with De niro, Pesci, Liotta, Nicholson, Pacino and if he was still alive Gandolfini. That Pesci snickers commercial always put a big grin on my face. Miss that dude a lot.

Kirk Douglas. He was in all sorts of great shit.

What happened to Catherine Zeta Jones? Is she still married to Kirk Douglas?

Michael Douglas. Michael Douglas had cancer, so he was out of acting for a long while. Catherine Zeta Jones is also having health problems, she is bipolar so she is also doing less work. His father Kirk Douglas is 97, so I hope he gets an excuse for stopping.

After seeing this thread, you know what would be a good thread? A thread about what actors who have stopped doing acting have been doing. They still have to work and earn money. Are they telephone operators, did they go back to school for degrees. Are they working the financial industry. These are all interesting questions.

They get paid millions for one film. The average american earns 2 million in their entire working career (net).
