i use this on my blackberry bold now and its awesome. well done!

does it work well on android as well? you could basically change the title of the thread to A NeoGAF smartphone web app. seriously great job.
 
More appreciation for your job from a Junior who has been lurking with this webapp for a very very long time !! Thanks a lot ckohlern :)　It allowed me to stay on GAF during lectures, at the restroom, in the bus, and many other usually boring places.
Oh and the Youtube videos thumbnails really surprised me at first. I thought it was now allowed on GAF, then realized it's just the webapp that had become even awesomer :D

It works great on Android, I've also used it on the Pre and a bit on Windows Mobile and loved it there as well.

Killing me! I was hoping this was bumped to say it had been folded into regular GAF so the secondapps link was down...wishful thinking. :(
 
For the life of me I cannot figure out why you don't have a tag. This is probably one of the most beneficial things a user has contributed to this site. Allows me to view Gaf easily where ever I am.

Yess!!! As has been said a few posts up, browsing regular gaf on a mobile is a pain.

I just wanna say thanks again for all your hard work on this app. I use it allll the time.

Same story here. It's long been my single most-used web app on the iPhone, by far. Thank you, ckohler!
 
Just realized there was a thread for the secondapp view of gaf so I'm poking my head in to say thanks - really fantastic job on this, I use it every day and love it. Kudos to the developer.
 
Love this, but is it possible to make an option so you can turn off the Youtube thing? I'd rather get the link so I can copy it and send it to a friend if it's funny. :)

I don't see the point of an iPad version. The iPad is already one of, if not the, best devices to use the internet with (lack of Flash support notwithstanding) so there shouldn't be any problems using GAF as it is.
 
Got a 3GS last night. I am a total iphone noob. So I did a quick google search of "iphone gaf" to see if there were some good threads on GAF for a noob like me.


I found this and I am glad I did.

I agree.

It find it somewhat ironic that the iPhone was touted as having the full internet, and not 'baby' internet, yet the best way to view many sites was by a specific mobile website.

Not surprising, though. And a reason why the iPad is a good idea - it's a more fully realised iPod touch for different (not better) uses.

Not, sure but if you hold down a link, can you copy the link?
 
Thanks once again for this. One suggestion, would it be possible to have a button for the gaming forum at the bottom of the ot forum and topics and vice versa?
 
I know the app was once submitted to Apple but rejected, is there ever a chance that it will be released for those of us that jailbreak? I'd love to have the actual app on my phone, not just the web app.
 
Would it be possible to Get a little update thread button on the bottom of a page. And make it so the browser scrolls down to the first new post? Many threads Are moving so fast you want to update constantly.

Yeah, you can do that on a link. But I don't know how to copy the url if the YouTube link is converted in to a little "picture" which will move you to YouTube. Maybe it's a feature in Safari rather than in this web app though?
 
For those wanting to use the web app fullscreen, there is a web browser for the iPhone you can get from the app store called VanillaSurf that has a full screen mode. It's not perfect but I've tested it and it works.

  • Dynamic Refresh - Following an epic thread that is getting a ton of replies? Click the "Refresh" button at the bottom of any thread's last page to fetch only the latest posts. They will be automatically appended onto the end!
  • More Fontsize Choices - You can now select from several font size choices on the Settings screen to make the text smaller or larger.
  • YouTube Embeds Include Links - For iPhone/iPod Touch users, embedded YouTube video thumbnails now include the URL below so that you can copy it to your clipboard.

On an unrelated note, I thought I might take this opportunity to pimp the new video show my friend Seth and I have been working on called The Co-op Mode. If you like watching two good friends having a blast playing co-op games, every Sunday we post a 10 min video of us playing a different one. This week will be Borderlands once I get it uploaded.
 
Love the app and just noticed the Refresh at the end of the thread whilst on the toilet. Keep up the good work man!
 
Love the app dude, good work :) I've been using it for quite a while now but never knew where it was from so it's nice to see this thread popping up so I can thank you!
