Hey Chkoler, great work on the site.

But witht he new communities thingy it gets awfullyng cramped with all the lists. So as a really basic mock up, maybe instead of this

Maybe this

Again not hating on your work! Just a suggestion :)

Looks great except for the random change made to how the pressed menu button looks. Jarring and out of place, it was better before. Not a huge deal, just an odd change. Oh and the linen should go, imo.

Other than that though, this so complete. D

Oh, but I have a feeling the mods are still going to want a single-tap ability to jump from OT to gaming (and communities?!) but maybe not. Nice subtle removal of that btw. ;p

This is weird, but it looks like one of the recent updates broke the compatibility with the Dolphin browser on iOS. Every time I want to change pages in a thread or hit the refresh button, I always get "No valid thread ID provided. Back To Whence You Came". Even the quote and edit buttons are gone. And yes, I cleared the cache and every other data, I even reinstalled the browser.

I'm kinda against it. I don't like the way it looks.

Same here, seems a bit of needless squashing stuff together along with the possibility of accidental presses when it works and looks fine currently.

The only thing I would have considered is having that front mobile page look like the hidden menu.

Adding stuff like that, might bloat up the ui, if you "had to" style the sub forums in a subtle way, could do something like this (tree navigation)

Yeah something like that

Too many times I've pressed the wrong forum, or taken a few seconds to think of what link to press

I like your idea, mine was just an idea to present the indention of the subforums, as that's what they are! Subforums, not forums (I believe)

Anyway, hopefully that's constructive for your Ckohloer, again major props on the work

That's perfect. Just an indention like that to give indication of its association while at the same time not minimizing its hit detection by making it so small/obscure.

The ads wouldn't bother me if they didn't look so pixelated on mobile devices.

Nothing we can do about that, though, until AdSense ups its game.

can i use this on my droid ? im kinda confused i can get to the secondapps site fine i just dont have the update for the site
You can get to it and use it on virtually any mobile device, just go to this link; http://www.secondapps.com/mockup/ Eventually it will become integrated into the default 'neogaf.com' domain so you won't have to worry about specific url's (at least that's the plan).

[edit] double beaten!

Not sure what you mean, since the ad in place now is just a place holder. Are there no "retina"-resolution ads via AdSense? Surprising if so.

Dark theme is something I never thought I'd use, but it's tremendously sexy on an iPad 3. Not sure if I can switch back now.

And I don't know about you, but I've been in the mood for some quality bike wheels for a while, dunno why....

I hath been converted to Dark Theme. i'm sure my Samoled display/battery is a lot happier. In fact I'm sure I've squeezed a little bit more out the battery today.

Gotta say, it's gonna take sometime to get used to not having the urge to go out and buy bike wheels.... Quality bike wheels.

Seems fine, if you're satisfied it's probably ready. Will need you in IRC for the implementation step.
Fantastic! I can't join you guys on IRC tonight but I'll try tomorrow after work.

Another great idea. It should be easy to add to my global displayList function.

Question: I used to be able to access the webapp on my kindle, but can't anymore, as it says it's only allowed for mobile devices. It's not something I plan to do frequently, but it's a nice backup for if my phone dies and I'm on the train or something.

Any idea why this is?

The old version had, IIRC, no device sniffing of any kind; the mockup has some specific library in place to determine what is and is not a mobile device. There'll probably have to be a discussion between EL, the sysadmins, etc. about what exactly constitutes a "mobile" and a "tablet" device for GAF purposes and what we'll use to detect them before the final version goes live, but I'll make a note to bring up the Kindle specifically.

The old version had a whitelist of mobile browser user agents that were given access to the formatted pages. The main reason for those restrictions—that it was an unofficial web app taking ad revenue from the main site—no longer applies. I can't think of a reason to bother offering the web app to just "mobile" and "tablet" devices (besides the possibility that the mobile ads bring in significantly less revenue than the desktop ads).

Can anyone confirm this?

This is weird, but it looks like one of the recent updates broke the compatibility with the Dolphin browser on iOS. would it be possible to fix this or is this a problem on the developers end?

I just got the little notification in the top menu for a PM, now that's brilliant.

Have you ever thought of putting a menu icon in the bottom corner too, Chris? I see you have Tools there now, but I usually want to access it as I hit the bottom of a thread and seems like it might fit.

Definitely for a change to how Gaming vs. Gaming Community and Off-Topic and Off-Topic Community are represented visually in the initial list.

I have to look at them for a second to make sure I've got the right one instead of just getting into the one I'm looking for by hitting the first thing that starts with an "O".

Still looking great, of course.

Found a bug perhaps:

In the "Is my avatar offensive thread" I tapped one of the trace-back links to a quote from CHEEZMO which loaded the page again (same page, 100ppp), and put me on CHEEZMOs post as expected.

What was weird is that when I shot up to the top of the page by tapping the time (iOS feature) then tapped the title of the thread to shoot down to the bottom (app feature) and tapped refresh, the entire page reloaded again and the app put me back on CHEEZMOs post.

Couldn't replicate it in another thread, but went back and could do it again with that CHEEZMO post.

Figured I'd mention it.

I've been playing around with the mockup. Only thing I really miss is the "end" arrow that would bring you down to the last post. Other than that, it's fantastic. Biggest pet peeve before is I was unable to post text properly using landscape mode on my Android phone.

You can still skip to the end of the page by tapping the header up top.

edit: hmm, seems that I misinterpreted what you meant by "end" arrow.

You can configure the arrow to do that in Preferences panel in the menu. It defaults to last unread post but you can swap it todo last page.

You can change the function of the end arrow in the preferences menu.
