Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

For those unaware, the game also has a 'hidden' 40hz option, it's the default way the game runs if you're on a 120hz display and have the console set as such.

It runs the game. What about Series S?
Ouff, that's one of the most jarring things I can think of (skipped Witcher 3 on PS4 entirely due to it).So I'm trying it now on series x, game is much softer obviously (1080p or less?) But the biggest difference is in npcs animation quality, all of them animate below native fewmarate (half or even less). They had to save a lot CPU performance. But game is indeed 60 fps.

I forgot that this was 30fps at launch. Need to finish the first game still.
With major compromises yesB..but neogaf told me that it is impossible to have 60fps in next gen only games. what happened?
My GOTY from last year.
If it took them 6 months for a 60FPS patch, it will take Redfall 6 years.
"Mayor compromises" some animations with less framerate and a bit less resolution... okayWith major compromises yes
Ran out of video memory trying to run the update. What about Series S?
Ok that's good. If this is the case I may buy it down the road.Tried it on PS5, didnt notice half rate animations.
Def higher than 1080p, doesnt have the ultra soft effect like most games in 1080 look (on 77" OLED)
If I had to guess something like 1440p, the compromise is in some of the effects like DOF etc, would be a nice way to play it TBH.

Game is 1440p in 30/40FPS mode so it can't be that, it's as soft as many other 1080p games to me (but I could be wrong).
I was talking about animations of NPCs in the market area (2 chapter), it's very obvious there but I don't know how enemies behave (main characters have correct animations framerate).
Every thread is a Redfall thread. What a popular game.My GOTY from last year.

Well, at least they are doing something good.
Not gonna ie though, when I see things like these, they trigger me. Just more fuel into the fire of devs releasing incomplete games at full price, now we are putting in stuff that should be part of the game as `features` later. Hey look, improved performance is a feature now.
Triggered but at the same time vindicated for typically never buying a game within the first 6-12 months of its release. Can't trust these dev mfs.
Hey dude, just checked it again on PS5, same area, definitely no half rate animations in the market area, could be a platform specific thing.Game is 1440p in 30/40FPS mode so it can't be that, it's as soft as many other 1080p games to me (but I could be wrong).

They implemented this framerate enhancement feature.B..but neogaf told me that it is impossible to have 60fps in next gen only games. what happened?

I had no idea the original was 1440, but once you turn the CA off in the menu, its a very good 1080p if it is, probably the best ive seen.
It's like every thread is a series S, Phil or Redfall thread.
Rent free?
I don't get how insecure some fans must be to have to constantly bring this stuff up...Holy poop. Lmao.
Perfect timing. I'm on chapter 3 and I was getting a bit annoyed with the default mode (40FPS for 120hz TV with VRR) as it was very stuttery. I don't mind the lower IQ, just want for that stutter to go away.
Don't be so inflammatory. It's a demanding game, and there are compromises to be made for it to hit 60fps,It's almost like games running at 30FPS in 2023 is because of developer laziness/incompetence rather than the consoles not being able to do it.
I'm guessing that they released the game with locked 30 FPS mode because they simply didn't optimize the game in time for the original release, and only now managed to polish it enough to make it run at stable 60. Honestly, that's not even that bad of an idea because at least it's a way to avoid bad press resulting from disappointing performance. It's probably what Jedi Survivor devs should've done as well.
