About Xenoblade Chronicle X's OST - people exaggerate on its "badness"

It's not bad, it just doesn't fit the game like a glove.

I disagree in that while the music may be good or bad to some, all of them definitely fits the theme of the game.

Also, maybe controversial opinion, but I feel like the Primordia field track doesn't match what I see on the screen. Yes, the song is great, but I think about middle eastern / arid / desertish themes with it. Haven't heard this critique before so it's probably just my mind forcing that association.

At first I thought of that too, but then I remember that it could properly fit the ragged, coastal/mountanous look Primordia have and it fits the "new territory is dangerous but once you challenge through it you see a breathtaking view" feel.

Soundtrack is phenomenal. Mixing and transitions in cutscenes could use work.

NLA day is one of the best in the game.

I love the music personally. Not sure why people are hating on it.

This is the internet. Puppy videos on Youtube turn into shovel in face threats. Not surprised. But the OST is pretty awesome. I'd rather something upbeat than the normal boring piano and violin, not that I don't like that, but it's so common and just tired.

I love 90's house music so dodgy raps and looped "ooh yeah" vocals are fine by me! That being said, I'm still early in the game but haven't heard anything on the level of some of the original Xenoblade's standouts.

No matter how much anyone justfies the NLA theme, day or night, I hate it. Easily my most hated song on the OST. That said, the exploration themes are amazing. Noctilum has to be my favorite, but they're all fantastic.

Honestly, overall I'd say I like it

It's just a shame that the cutscenes don't utilise the tracks well at all. There's some really bizarre music placement in some of them.

As others have said, the sound mix is very bad during cutscenes. Beyond that, I'm loving the OST as a whole.

Absolutely LOVE the soundtrack. The instrumentation is flawless and so so fitting to the setting. The voiced tracks are also very anime, so I think they go well.

I'm not a fan of most vocal songs, but the area themes are all absolutely excellent. Stepping first into Premordia with that tune was an amazing feeling.

I love XCX OST much better than XC.

The first game have maybe 15-20 sublime songs (out of a OST of 90+ songs) so in the end it's not so great overall because most of the other songs are average and "typical jrpg ambient songs", but people will say the OST is great because of that 15-20 songs. XCX soundtrack have 3-4 awkward/cheesy songs but all the others are incredible (and there are 50+ tracks, most of them contains two actual songs), lyrics or not. And it has a movie-like feel that matches perfectly with the game and the aesthetics. It has some serious Tron Legacy, Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica) and Hans Zimmer (Interestellar) vibes and I love that.
