And the consequences continue for NC.

ACC said:
“As members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the ACC Council of Presidents reaffirmed our collective commitment to uphold the values of equality, diversity, inclusion and non-discrimination. Every one of our 15 universities is strongly committed to these values and therefore, we will continue to host ACC Championships at campus sites. We believe North Carolina House Bill 2 is inconsistent with these values, and as a result, we will relocate all neutral site championships for the 2016-17 academic year. All locations will be announced in the future from the conference office.”

Neutral site championships (in date order):
Women’s Soccer
Football
Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving
Women’s Basketball
Men’s and Women’s Tennis
Women’s Golf
Men’s Golf
Baseball

Is there any potential final straw, or will that farce of a government ride it out until they're replaced (assuming the replacements aren't equally shit)?

Local elections are in two months. All signs point to the governor getting booted, but the status of the other legislators is a bit murkier.

Republicans hate money. Well compared to having to be nice to blacks, gays, and other minorities. Money suddenly doesn't matter.

McCrory's out regardless to be honest

I dont think Dems would make enough inroads this election in the General Assembly to get the votes to repeal just by force of numbers but the bills not surviving the courts anyway. The precedent has already been set to make it a open and shut case.

It just depends on how much kicking and screaming the NCGOP wants to do between now and then.

And as long as the damage from the firestorm is contained in Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh (large, BLUE economic centers) they are less inclined to reverse course.

Subscribing for when NCGOP endorses the SEC.

More than one NC legislature member probably looked into just how much it would cost for UNC and NC State to exit the ACC.

(*Which would be on the order of hundreds of millions of dollars each, taking not only the exit fee but also 20 years of media rights into play.)
