ACIV PS4 digital version for $40

Imagine paying £55 in the UK for this and then seeing this deal, god I'd be mad.

I bought it for £38, still a little salty tbh, not buying any more games in the UK anymore.

Yeah, I bought FIFA and thought "That's it for games for me this month at that price" until I discovered the joy of Amazon.com digital sales. £37 instead of £50+ is insane.

Bought Flower as a test from the US store and made a US SEN/PSN account and redeemed it, so shall try logging in to it when I get home.

I assume that you login with the US account, make it primary, download and then log back in with the UK one?

Can the US account be set as primary permanently? And will this still allow me to use PS+ on the UK without any issues.

Apologies for all the questions.

Will it still allow me to play the PS3 digital version if I upgrade? If so, can I play them at the same time?

Yeah, it's fine. My PS4 is the primary console for both the US and UK accounts. Can even log out of the US account while it downloads, log into UK and the download continues. The Yankee McYankerson account is purely for US SEN and does nothing more, not even plays the games.

Cool, thats what I was hoping! Didn't realise you could make 2 accounts primary, thought it was 1 at a time but I guess now its the console itself?

I just bought the PS3 digital version, and upgraded to PS4 for free wit the $10 included in my PS4. Anyways, I got the PS3 code for $24.99.. It applied some $5 promotion to my purchase. Not sure from what o_O.

Might jump on this from the UK.

Is there something preventing the US versions working via our remote play?

Infact wasn't there a catch all thread for us UKers wanting to shop on Amazon US? Anyone got a link to the thread handy? Just tried a search but couldn't find it.

Do you have to download the PS3 version of the game first before upgrading and downloading the PS4 version? Or is buying the PS3 version (without fully downloading it) enough?

Also, what's the download file size?

Yeah, that setting is to make the console the primary console for the account, not to make it the primary account for the console if that makes sense.

Will this work in Canada? Also Do I need a ps3 for this to work?

No PS3 required and you can do it in Canada, you'll just need to put in any old US address as your billing address. Use Idaho or California to avoid tax.

Not at all. You just set a US address and it works.

Remote Play wise it will work. Your Vita can use the content of any Primary account on your PS4. Since your US Account can also be set as a Primary account the Vita can play its games despite being registered as your UK account. This also means you can use your UK account to play the game and can tie all the stats to it.

You make a great point. We should be calling the consoles primary/secondary not the accounts. In fact I just checked and that's how Sony terms it themselves.

That's a relief, do I need to setup the US account on my vita too?

I assume no because it looks at the PS4... just wondering!

To be fair, I'm sure this is simply an unintended side effect of these companies having $10 upgrade deals in place. Ubisoft wants the next gen game to be $60 because early adopters will pay it. The fact that the previous gen version is already seeing big discounts is something they're ok with, until they remember that people can just buy it digitally and upgrade and have 2 versions of AC4 for $40 total.

It's just an unprecedented situation where a crossgen game exists with a $10 upgrade program and where you can take advantage of heavy previous gen sales.

Could not do the upgrade through the web store but was just fine on the PS4. Got it for $35 being I had a $5 credit for getting the $30 PSN deal on Amazon :)

You could argue that they saw this coming. It's a good way to get even more people to buy it if you think about. People think they're making a great saving by finding a loophole (self-satisfaction), but Ubi intended it to be this way all along :P.

You don't have to no. Only on the PS4.

Exactly, it's more of a hassle to do it on Vita as you need to format your memory card/have 2 memory cards to do it. It's tempting to get a second memory card for this exact purpose though, even if it means the activity won't be on my UK account.

If someone would like to buy my retail copy of AC4 for $40, i would like love to buy this one digitally. I would like to go all digital this gen

I reckon savings are worth the hassle of a second memory card and fudging trophy accumulation.

Just to be clear in case people get confused the Vita can Remote Play US bought games if your Vita has a UK account on it (as long as the US account has your PS4 as its Primary).

But for actual Vita games, as we've discussed here, you will need to swap accounts each time you want to play US games.

Why would we need 2 memory cards?

Seriously considering giving this a go.

Infact I might just jettison my UK account anyway and just roll with a US one if this sort of thing is going to be the way things are for the next 6 years. There's nothing tied to my UK account other than a very small number of digital titles and a Plus account which expires this month.

There's no online region restrictions for multiplayer or anything like that, right?

Don't get confused. He's talking about buying Vita games, whole different issue.

All you need to do is buy the PS4 game from US Store, set your console as primary for the US Account and then Remote Play in with your UK account Vita and you can play the game on your Vita.

Does AC4 have the win button like Brotherhood? Loved that feature, stinky civilian looks at me funny, and my assassins swoop in for the kill.

Yup, just double checked for full, sensual confirmation and my US Killzone played fine on my UK PS4 and Vita over the internet.

Performance is a bit shoddy using a phone as a hotspot though.

So how do save files work? Do you get to keep your progress in single player? What about multiplayer?

Do you mean between the PS3 and PS4 versions? Single player for sure doesn't carry over. not sure about multiplayer, might do something with the levelling since it's all on the same account, but someone would need to confirm.

Does the US-version support only english or other languages (german) as well?

This is a good question. Considering this was a Worldwide Launch there is a good chance that even the US discs contain the European languages. I believe it was found that this was the case with Killzone.

lol. I still haven't tested it with my iPhone 4S, and my upload speed from home is only 1Mbit. Ideally I'll upgrade both of these in the future (get a 4G phone and Fibre optic internet) and get Remote Play going outside the house as well as it does inside.

Thanks for this. Saved me a buttload of money since Im European.

Seriously, it's amazing. With the £50 next-gen premium, thought I'd be on one game a month. Now I've got Killzone, NBA 2k14 and AC IV on top of already having Knack and FIFA. Saved myself about £50 already.

What's amazing is you've actually paid more to them at these prices. They stand to earn much more money if they were more reasonable on the UK pricing.

Managed to redeem the code on a us account but I can't get us psn to accept my cc details any tips uk gaf?

I'd like to know this as well. I thought it would be as easy as Amazon? Just use a fake address?

You can't as it needs a real billing address on PSN.

Buy $10 of PSN credit on Amazon:

I know, it all seems silly. I only had one game on the go at a time until Steam rolled about. 500 games for me later and you'd hope that the console manufacturers would wake up one day.

Ubisoft intended for people who don't even own a PS3 and only own a PS4 to jump onto PSN, buy the PS3 game for $30, then upgrade it for $10 more to bypass the game cost they still have priced at $60 retail and on PSN?

I highly doubt that.

Even if you forget about this Amazon deal, the PS3 version is always going to end up being a cheaper way to play the PS4 game right? Like let's say a few months down the line when the price drops, it will probably be cheaper to get the PS3 version and do the upgrade than go for the PS4 version.
