Maybe not. If one of their family members got killed in a senseless shooting like what happened here.. otherwise an attack like that could just be tossed up as a terrorist attack.

That wouldnt matter either because the politicians are expendable. If they change their minds and spurn the gun lobby than there are plenty of other candidates ready to run against them that would love to receive the funding instead.

Even if there was a live stream of school gym where gunmen executed 1,000 children over the course of an hour nothing would get done because all American cultures are corrupt and worship violence.

Thing is, more black people were shot by policemen this month than the victims in this mall - a problem they have protested, fought and voted against for decades. Meanwhile white people were shot in a mall thanks to ludicrously lax gun laws (that make us an international pariah) that they themselves voted for and insisted upon. Gun laws that make police HAVE to assume people they interact with may be carrying guns.

I'm not apportioning blame, just shining a light on how fucked up gun culture has made this country.

They brought out EVERYONE last night. We had police from all over the place come to comb over the mall. La Conner, Marysville, Bellingham, even the Reservation officers were combing the roads leading out from Burlington.

Of COURSE they weren't. However a plurality of white voters in this country have historically supported second amendment "protections" and expansions (open carry etc). The point was about our general democratic approaches to these two hyperconnected problems.

I grew up it a town with a population of 500 and currently live in one with a population of 300, so when people call a town with 22k a 'small town' it baffles me lol
