JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are on the scene of a hostage situation at Community First Credit Union in Florida.

The JFRD Incidents page posted about the incident on Twitter Thursday morning: “‘Active shooter’ in the area of Edgewood Ave intersecting Orland & Fernandina Ave. Avoid the area until further notice.”

Police say there is an active shooter and the suspect does have hostages,” First Coast News reports. They also believe at least one person has been shot, but it has not been confirmed.

More details from ABC.

ABC News said:
Local sheriff's office officials and hostage negotiators are on the scene of a reported hostage situation stemming from a bank robbery in Jacksonville, Florida, authorities said.

A bank robbery was in progress this morning when authorities arrived, and officials said a gunman is now holding hostages inside the bank. Authorities said multiple people are believed to be inside the Community First Credit Union, but the number of people is not clear.

Officials said a 911 call reported that shots were fired inside the bank and that someone may have been shot, but authorities warned at a news conference this morning that they cannot confirm if someone was shot.

Not that title means much but it seems to have started as a robbery, not just someone looking to kill people.

She said that an initial 911 call indicated that someone may have been shot during the robbery Thursday, but the sheriff's office has not been able to confirm that.

Is active shooter considered to be any armed hostile suspect, or someone who is intending to kill random persons? Never really thought about that.
