Activision kills fan-made Kings Quest sequel

doing fan stuff on the side is one thing,
but going out and investing so much time on a project where the intellectual property belongs to someone else... like come on! Reality is going to hit sooner or later

only a very minute minority will ever catch a break, the rest will get shut down with C&D

better off coming up with your own original ideas that don't have any attachment to others copyrights

I don't disagree on coming up with original ideas, but they HAD an agreement with the owner of the IP until it got sold off to Activision.

Eh, the best work in the last few years has come from some hard working people like AGDI. It's amazing what fan teams can do, but it's sad that it takes literal years of their lives to do this work. To have it crushed out of existence after years of effort is really saddening if you know how much work they put in..

I'm also assuming by 'talks' that Activision is going to ask them to charge a small amount for the game and give Activision a cut.

My good sir, are you implying that Mr. Kotick is an unstoppable, money-hungry monster?

I don't understand the fascination with recreating "fan-made" versions of games. Just make an original IP that is very, very similar to the original game. Hell, Activision does it all the time. So should you!
