I think it's part of growing up in the internet. I used to be addicted back in early 2000's. Hell, I even manage to last the pet redesign (which I thought were neat, some of the designs really needed to be redone). I think I stopped after being bought by Viacom.

Yeah. Got my dude and spent about half an hour each day playing Meerca Chase.

My 12 year old self used to wonder how some people managed to amass cash in the millions.

I'm not gonna bother seeing if my account still exists though, I already did that three or four years ago!
 
Nope - don't know what that is. I thought you meant "Gigapets" (those Tamagotchi clones from the 90's) at first but it's obviously not that.
 
Admit it, you wish your secret shame was shared by more, but really, it's not. And that's unfortunate... for you. Not for me really, or anyone old enough to have never played "in neopets" whatever that means.

It's like tamogotchi, except on the internet and with a lot more things to do.

Also the thing can't die. So it will simply be starving. Forever.

It's really happy that it's starving to death. Great lessons for the kids there when they get a real pet.
 
It's not like you could not have food there anyway. You can always get your pet full for free if you know where to look.
 
I played this hardcore when I was in middle school. A few years ago I tried to see if my account or creatures were still around, but they were most likely deleted due to inactivity. I have to say I'm impressed about how huge the site got.

I mean you have to be crazy young to think the "early 2000s" was long enough ago that it excuses something like neopets.
 
Nope, but my sister, cousins, and ex-girlfriend were all into this back in the day. They eventually stopped caring and moved on.
 
I did, back when we had dial up internet. It took so bloody long for the pages to load that I gave up. They still send me an email rarely, despite the fact that I haven't touched the account in probably 5 or 6 years.

They don't delete account for inactivity.

Also, back then it was a nice way of "introducing" children to pets, due to yeah, near-death stuff, and they weren't backing to use words like kill, die, etc.
 
I thought about it, but never did. My boyfriend at the time was really into it, so I was curious. My abhorrance for signing up for basically anything kept me from doing it in the end, though.
 
Yeah, when I was in middleschool. Never got too into it though. Oh yeah, played it a bit... last year, too, with my girlfriend at the time.
 
I'm 20, and I played it for a few years back in late elementary school and middle school. My friend and I also created one of the first "Neopoints generator" scams. I can't say for sure that nobody did it first but I had never seen one when we made it. We spent about a year stealing people's stuff before we got banned.

Kinda shitty but it's so far in the past it's just funny at this point.
