• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Admit it, you've double dipped as well.

ICO (both PS2)
Halo (both Xbox, the second a Platinum Hits edition that I bought because I thought my original disk was messed up. Turned out my Xbox was the problem. Huge sadface, let me tell you.)
Soul Calibur 2 (Xbox, PS2. As a massive Tekken fan I needed to play as Heihachi. I earned every last unlockable on both copies.)
Oblivion (PC, 360. My PC still can't handle the former, dammit, but as soon as I upgrade it's going to be mod-induced nerdgasms every night for at least a couple years. I love me my Elder Scrolls.)

Pokemon Red
Pokemon Blue
Pokemon Yellow x2 (one was as a gift)

/shame :(

Pokemon Gold was the latest Pokemon game i ever bought.

2x Bioshock (one PC CE, one 360)
2-3x Black&White (somehow..mostly duplicate gifts I guess, cos I was deeply disappointed by it!)

2x Age of Empires 2 (duplicate gift)
2x Zelda 64 (duplicate gift)

2x Super Mario Sunshine (1 PAL, 1 US)
2x Waverace 64 (1 VC, 1 hardcopy)
4x GCN (1 PAL, 1 US, and a Wii..lol, j/k!!111)

.. + various copies of Super Mario World..and others I can't really think of.

Consoles:
2 X Sega Saturn (model 1 + 2)
2 X Mega Drive (Model 2 and Multi-mega)
2 X Mega CD (Model 2 and Multi-mega)

2X Space Channel 5 (Dreamcast: Japanese + American)
2X Shenmue (Dreamcast: Japanese + PAL)

I've had a lot more double dips before but I tend to just keep one version now if I can help it. At some point I had two versions of Earthworm Jim 2, Cannon Fodder, Zool, James Pond 2, Street fighter 2 (at least 3 or 4 times), Street Fighter Alpha 2, and probably many others.

I had Street Fighter Collection for the Saturn, but sold it as I could play the same games on Capcom Classics and SF Anthology (with 60HZ and no loading times to boot). Got £50 for it. :D

lets see... R-Type too many times to recall. going to do it again for the xbla version.
RE4x4 once for each platform it was released on.
Burnout Paradise x 2 PS3 and 360
Sam and Max: series 1 x 2 PC and Wii
UT3 x 3 PS3, 360 and PC oh my!
Half Life 2/Episode 1 PC and 360
Doom 3 x 2 PC and 360
Bioshock x 2 360 and PC

that's the big recent stuff. i rebuy a lot of stuff through steam/gog too though. old stuff i no longer have. a bunch of ID games that way (i bought that crazy ID pack so you could actually say Doom 3 x 3), Max Payne 1 and 2, gosh, too much to remember.

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay - Xbox and PC
GTA: San Andreas - PS2 and PC
Mass Effect - Xbox 360 and PC

Can't think of any others, but lately I've been buying everything on PC that's multiplatform and available there. I'm tempted to do the same with GTA IV because of the mod abilities.

I have five copies of Super Smash Bros Melee, have purchased 23 GameCube controllers, and currently own 2 sealed copies of E.T. for the Atari.

Go ahead, GAF, laugh. I actually enjoyed it though.
Don't feel bad, mine is considered worst:

I like the game, specially for multiplayer. I bought a second copy two week ago to play with 7 friends using system link.

I also have 2 copies of Xenosaga Episode I (Black label & Greatest Hits). Planning on buying the japanese versions in the future too.

DMC3 Regular then special edition.
DMC4. I wanted it on launch and couldn't get the CE. I bought the CE later so I would have it. I sold the regular edition.

Was about to type I have never double dipped... then I remembered SquareSoft/SuqareEnix's wares and all the double dipping/purchasing I have done over the years.

Final Fantasy I and IV being the worst offenders!

Bought Oblivion on PC. Didn't like it(loved Morrowind).

Was so desperate for an RPG on PS3 I bought the game again (thinking I'd get into it).

Still didn't like it.

By the far the dumbest gaming purchase decision I ever made.

Just off the top of my head... I have:

- more than one copy of Morrowind (these came with gfx card bundles)
- several Deus Ex (disc, bundle, best game ever yeaahhh) copies plus the Steam release
- CoD4 PS3 and PC CE
- Oblivion PS3 and PC CE too
- Half-Life disc and Steam

... and can't remember anything else right now.

Just one off the top of my head.

Oblivion for the PC and and now for the PS3. For some reason unable to get into the PC version. Countless hours on the PS3 version.

IN my defense though I did pick up the game of the year edition for the PS3 (did not have the expansions for the PC).

I have 4 copies of BG2 (it's a long story) and two copies of Diablo 2, that's all I can think of right now.

Bah, OP, you're a light weight compared to me. And yeah, I think I probably even own more redundant AD&D/Dragonlance gold box RPGs than you! Pity me.
.jpeg or didn't happen.

I have quite a few I'm sure, but one that stands out in my mind is Dragon Warrior IV. I have a copy of the NES version, a copy of the PSone remake (import - The Best/Budget edition), and the recent US release of the DS version.

Edit: Speaking of IVs, Final Fantasy IV. I have cart only for the SNES FF2/4, an import copy of FFIV Advance which came with the limited edition GBA Micro, a sealed copy of the US release of FFIV Advance, and FFIV DS.

Edit 2: Oh crap, I have FFIV on Chronicles for the PSone too. OK, I'm leaving this thread before I get completely side-tracked from work.

I used to fall prey to Nintendo remakes and have played and owned the following:

Super Mario Bros (NES)
Super Mario Bros DX (Gameboy Color)
Super Mario Bros (SNES Mario All-Stars)

Super Mario Bros 2 (NES)
Super Mario Bros 2 (SNES Mario All-Stars)
Super Mario Bros 2 (GBA)

Super Mario Bros 3 (NES)
Super Mario Bros 3 (SNES Mario All-Stars)
Super Mario Bros 3 (GBA)

Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Mario World (GBA)

Yoshi's Island - Mario World 2 (SNES)
Yoshi's Island - Mario World 2 (GBA)

Zelda 1 (NES)
Zelda 1 (GC Zelda Collection)
Zelda 1 (GBA classics)

The list goes on and on.. I feel like a douchebag everytime I think about it. Fucking Nintendo.

I have multiple-dipped with several games, but the series that takes the cake for me is the entire Metal Gear Solid series -_-;;. I have so many copies of each game that it gives me a headache just thinking about it.

I'll take pictures later, as I can't remember how many copies of each game I have off the top of my head because there are so many @_@.

Only 2 I can think of is:

Warhawk (I had traded it in YEARS UPON YEARS ago, then found a copy used years later. In it's original BIG ASS PSX box.)

FFVIII, because I apparently lost or sold my original copy, and years later, wanting to play through it again, bought it used.

I could list many though sticking to one offender.

Sonic the Hedgehog 12X. (Well technically the GG/Master System version is a different game but also bought multiple times for Genesis in Mean Bean collection.)

Genesis, Game Gear, Master System, PC, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS2, XBOX, Wii, 360, GBA.

not many

x2 MGS1 (limited japanese edition and pal)
x2 shenmue 2 (dc japanese version -could not wait to play it- pal xbox)
x3 half life 2 (pc, xbox, x360, if orange box counts)

btw, i can't believe we're finally free from the ntsc/pal bullcrap.
pal games running slower, coming out months later compared to ntsc counterparts, poor localizations...those are things from the past, i suppose we should thank dreamcast for that (too): starting the pal60hz trend.

Sold my copy of VF5 ps3 to get the 360 one for online play.
Realizing lag kills VF5 online, quickly sold it to a freind and went and re-bought VF5 on ps3.lol

Course it only ended up costing me the full price of ps3 ver + 15$ so it wasnt THAT bad.

Loves me some virtua fighter.

I triple-dipped for Snake Eater.

Original version
Subsistence
Collectors Edition Steelbook

Ah yes I forgot about Snake Eater. I too double dipped with the original release an Subsistence. That also reminds me, I bought Monster Hunter on the PS2 and then again on the PSP.

I don't count remakes as they are normally better in some way than the original I have never bought the exact same game twice.
