what happened to this series? I used to love these games on the nes & snes...
GitarooMan said:I think the series got a little out of date. Even Super Adventure Island was incredibly simplistic.
RevenantKioku said:Perhaps, but I could play through those first levels over and over, trying to get to the end. And I can still do that today. I can't do that with many games anymore. *sad*
Baron Aloha said:IIRC they released a remake for Gamecube in Japan.
Infernal Monkey said:I uuuh, sorta on topic, I guess. But does anyone know why the first Adventure Island game on NES was a direct rip off of Sega's Wonderboy? Same level designs and everything.
ManDudeChild said:Any screenshots?
Speevy said:This comes into every Adventure Island thread. So what. I enjoyed the heck out of these games as a kid. Wonderboy doesn't invalidate their presence.

PC Gaijin said:It's a port not a rip-off. Hudson licensed the game, but Sega had a trademark on the Wonder Boy title. So Hudson renamed their port Adventure Island. This is why the Hudson ports of other Wonder Boy games have different titles and names for the characters (Bikkuriman World, Dragon's Curse, Monster Lair, and The Dynastic Hero). As for Adventure Island, Hudson kept developing on the same game style and theme for sequels, while the Wonder Boy series went the Monster World route.

GitarooMan said:Super Adventure Island was sweet. It had that fantastic island soundtrack
