AEW game announcement coming on November 10th

I believe in the past they have said they are looking into games on different platforms. So I'd expect some kind of phone bullshit first and then maybe a "proper" game to follow after.

I'm lukewarm to Yukes. If they are starting with a brand new game engine, I'll be open minded but I certainly hope they are working in conjunction with another studio.

"Players are expecting something new every time we release a game and we feel like we haven't achieved what we've really wanted to do," Hiromi Furuta, senior vice president and producer at Yuke's, said at the time. "In many cases we're still using old assets and we're not able to do some things in the way that we want to."

They've been wanting to try something new for awhile, and i heard they even built a new engine for it. It was WWE who had finally say and they said no. Which is why Yukes split from WWE. I'm staying optimistic

New console game developed by Yukes announced with the director of the WWF No Mercy, Hideyuki "Geta" Iwashita involved.

2 mobile games revealed, a general manager booking game and some sort of casino game.

A no mercy style game would be great. That era was the a sweet spot for simplicity and fun.

making a best in class wrestling game isn't a high bar these days. WWE's shit has sucked ass for like 15 years.

So it ended up being Yukes plus the No Mercy director, a console game and mobile games and not streaming stuff. A good result.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the console game will be decent.

I've been playing a mobile booking game of late. It's a fun time waster. Not much depth to it though.

No, this one:

There's also a modern version, although I haven't tried that one:

I'll check the one you linked to out.

I also own TEW 2020, so if I need some booking depth I just play that.

Haven't played a booking SIM since EWR in 2006. Had my fingers crossed for something like that with a bigger budget. But I guess I'll give their game a try.

I have relatively high hopes. Their old Smackdown games, back when they were hand modeling animations and not mo-capping them, and when they were allowed to make a relatively arcadey game, were a ton of fun. It wasnt until 2K came along and they tried making the games a simulation (of something that is choreographed...like...what?) that they became complete shit.

Yukes more like Yikes. But they got a director with pedigree. My kids loved the trailer. So I know they will want it.

Look at him trying to be Steve Jobs

1. Take No Mercy on N64
2. Update the graphics.
3. Update the roster.
4. Add online play.

You will win.
Agreed 100%. That game or WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain. That was the last game that meshed the arcade-y fun with somewhat realism. Modern wrestling games are either way too realistic (spending most of the match on the ground, taking forever to stand up, all with confusing controls) or too arcade-like (no sense of weight, power, damage; over the top in a creepy, shitty way).

Considering how terrible Yukes have been over the years let's hope it was more Take-2 forcing a gun to their head and now they'll be better here.

Knew it would be mobile.

Console is cool but all they showed was a CGI cut scene so we have no idea what its going to be like. Its also cross gen (maybe Switch?) so ya I wouldn't expect state of the art RT and amazing graphics.

Kenny always said he would be involved in the game so I figure its going to come off as a fan made No Mercy. Hopefully they can get it close enough but its always hard to capture that old magic.

Not really a big fan of Yukes' output once the series became SvR and WWE, best one they ever did for me was Here Comes the Pain. It does give me hope that they brought on the director from the AKI games. Hope the end result is good for the console game.

That "console footage" looked more like an arcade game which is fine with me but I think the people who've been screaming for a no mercy game are going to be mad.

I just hope the console game is good. I'm sick of the WWE 2K franchise and I NEED this AEW game to be great. Wrestling games, the classic ones, have been some of my most played and favorite games of all-time. I can't wait to see where this goes.

The problem with the 2K wrestling games was that 2K put them on a yearly release schedule. Yukes was forced to just update the roster, fix bugs and maybe try to add one feature a year. In a lot of ways, their situation is very simialr to Madden.

The AEW Console Game trailer was so weird for me. i can see elements of the plastic 'action figure' stylized bodies of WWE Allstars and Battlegrounds, or the old Acclaim Legends Of Wrestling series. Kenny's pecs were rediculous. But then at other times, like on Hiakru Shida's face, they just looked like upscaled WWE 2k14 caws, with lots of shine applied on the skin. Like, what Yukes could do without 2k's image scanning tools. The punches looked arcadey, the gameplay of WWE Allstars or TNA Impact etc. but then the combination reversals looked like one of WWE2K Simulation series' Comeback Moment sequences.

There's a strange disconnect for me as I try to process everything. Is this a hyper stylized gci trailer, say like SD JBI's opening trailer looking nothing like the game, SVR07's trailer that was nothing like the game, or basketball games get trailers that look nothing like the game.... or is this cut-together ''camera cut change'' animations of moves.

the little CAMoveset Men snippet at the end has me hoping this is legally distinct WWE2K gameplay, but with WWE AllStars-ish visuals.

Also... last time I checked they don't have any images from the Kenny/Shia fight on the website, whereas the Booker GM game does have screenshots. I kinda hope they're pulling a swerve, with the artstyle, and it won't be AllStars-looking.

Maybe next year we'll have a decent WWE game.

AEW Wrestling Game in Development Since 2019, Several AKI Corp. Veterans on the Team

Earlier this month upstart new promotion All-Elite Wrestling announced their first video game, which is being developed by Yuke's, who made WWE games for years before parting ways with 2K Games. That may sound like a red flag, but the so-so quality of their recent games was largely due to the grinding yearly treadmill they've been on. It's also been revealed the director of the beloved WWF No Mercy, Hideyuki "Geta" Iwashita, will be involved in the AEW Wrestling game.

Well, in a recent interview with Video Games Chronicle, Yuke's producer Hiromi Furuta provided even more reason to be hopeful. First off, this new AEW game isn't being rushed like most of Yuke's WWE games were, as the game has been in development since 2019. That said, it was only recently that the AEW name was applied to the project…

At [the project's inception in 2019] there was the possibility of it becoming something else, but your understanding is correct. However, it was very recently that we began making the game with AEW.

Furuta also revealed that Hideyuki Iwashita won't be the only veteran of No Mercy developer AKI Corp. on the team – several devs from that studio have moved to Yuke's over the years.

Mr. Iwashita was one of the members essential to assembling the greatest pro-wrestling game team that Kenny Omega had envisioned. After AKI stopped making WWE wrestling games, part of their former team joined Yuke's and worked on our games with us. We thus think of [Iwashita] as a reliable member for creating wrestling games. […] Fans of pro-wrestling games love No Mercy's game system, so it will undoubtedly serve as key inspiration for us.

It all sound fairly promising to me! Mainstream wrestling games have been pretty mediocre for a while, so any glimmer of hope is worth latching onto.

Yuke's AEW game is coming to current and next-gen consoles. A release date has yet to be set. A couple of mobile games, AEW Casino and AEW Elite GM, are slated for later this year and 2021, respectively.

looks good. I'm ready for a good wrestling game again. been a terrible ten years or so imo
2 weeks ago or so a buddy and I played WCW vs. NWO Revenge and then jumped straight into WWF No Mercy right after and played for hours. SO MUCH FUN. Haven't really played any wrestling games since then that I've enjoyed at all. PS1/N64 was the golden age for me in regards to wrestling games, Smackdown on PS1 was awesome too. Granted, that's about the time I stopped watching wrestling in general so my not being current on any of the happenings I'm sure plays a role in my not enjoying any of the more contemporary games. But the few I've tried over the more recent years just weren't nearly as fun as those old ones for the N64.

Glad they didn't go with that weird character model proportions in the first early reveal. That's a pretty good looking in-game Darby model.

yeah i was willing to overlook that over exaggerated character model if the gameplay was excellent. these new models look a million times better though. the old ones reminded me of that wwe all stars game

We played on an Nvidia shield and used Xbone controllers and Switch Pro controllers. Looked good and played super well. If you have an old Wii U or even a Amazon Firecube you should look into it. Not a bad way to jump back into those old games at all and they can scale pretty well with a few built in hacks that come with Retroarch.
