Can somebody please give me a breakdown of the good and bad wrestling games?
From my research it looks like the same company has made the good wrestling games (Shut Your Mouth, Here Comes the Pain, etc.) as the bad games (everything after that).

If this has the old Aki grappling system, it is a day one purchase for me. I could care less if it doesn't measure up visually to the 2K games. Fire Pro looks like ass and is amazing.

Yukes made all the Smackdown games through 2k19. 2003's Here Comes the Pain is generally considered their best effort.
AKI is the more revered wrestling dev as they made WCW/NWO World Tour & Revenge along with WWE Mania'00 and No Mercy (Among other titles). They currently exist as "syn Sophia" but the version that made awesome wrestling games died in 2007.

What this game should have:
On a serious note, the clips don't look horrendous and it has some potential. It really is a wait and see situation though

- Realistic mode
- Each wrestler has a botch chance that is statistically accurate
- Some wrestlers have fucked up hitboxes so that striking moves miss. Bonus feature: leg slap on super kick.
- Jericho mode
- Feud with someone then do dinner and dancing
- Fall onto badly disguised cardboard on crash pads
- Blade yourself on camera
- Meltzer mode
- Star ratings (who am I kidding, this will be in the main game)
- Cornette mode
- Every name is replaced with Jim's nickname, chosen at random if there's more than one (poor Kenny)

Your use of the word Botches has triggered Jericho lol. It would be interesting to see a variable for failed moves due to a wrestler being inexperienced.

Bad: Any of the 2K wrestling games

what seems to be going on here is Yukes has been making wrestling games for over 20 years. THQ published them. And started to eventually help them. THQ goes out of business and 2k buys the game franchise. Continues to let Yukes make it under their supervision. And little by little seemed to be asserting their influence over the game and trying to take more and more of the work away from Yukes. Likely because the endgame was to eventually push Yukes out and completely take over.
Yukes eventually said f-this, we quit. Stole a bunch of their own work. And created this AEW game. Then Kenny Omega, AEW wrestler; decided to track down the producer/director of the old N64 WWF/WCW games and make him the overseer of this project. I think this guys been out of the game making business for 20 years...and maybe the last game he made was either No Mercy or Def Jam Vendetta?

Also, regarding the "other" Adam that was mentioned (Page), it'll be interesting to see if they included the usual crowd chant in this game...something to do with cowboys and fecal matter.

Given how much blood will be in (same as old games, and Moxley exists) I think "Cowboy shit" will be fine

This is exactly where I'm at. It's wild that we haven't seen such a thing in ALL this time, especially with how successful the 64 games were. Ugh.

I know they teased before but neat seeing intergender matches confirmed given that AEW doesn't do them IRL. Now I know I'm maining Abadon in career mode.
