Completely dominated by Sydney.

Now St Kilda, Sydney and Essendon are all on equal wins. For any of the three to drop out, they have to lose all their remaining games, while Freo or North win both of theirs.

Matchups to come are important though:

Essendon have Port Adelaide and a bye.
St Kilda have North and Carlton.
Sydney have Geelong and Brisbane.
North have St Kilda and Richmond.

An Essendon win against Port (highly likely) will seal one spot.
St Kilda/North will open it right up: the loser will be done.
North must win both games.
St Kilda and Sydney need to win 1 game also.

I'm tipping the 3 teams will be Essendon, Sydney and North Melbourne. Not in that order necessarily though.

Big percentage changes could be decided by Ess/Port and Syd/Geelong. I reckon those two will end up 6th and 7th, so the margins in those games will determine if Sydney or Essendon host the final against each other.

fixed.

I've got a funny feeling North might just pip the Sainters this week, too.

And Port will beat the Bombers, sending them crashing in a heap. Get on board

...or not

So hey, AusGAF Dream Team league....

Prelim's this weekend.

Main Draw:
South Beach Talent v She Had Man Hands
Sainter's Realm v Blank Planet FC (me! :p)

Minor (read: Useless) Draw:
Tom Harley v team sausagefest
Sir Manglement v Ooo... Nice Choice!

West Coast hard man Beau Waters has escaped punishment for his brutal hip and shoulder on Essendon skipper Jobe Watson

Watson was left bloodied and concussed and took no further part in the game after the third-quarter incident.

It came about when he took possession in the Bombers' forward line and turned into the path of Waters, who hit him right up the middle and made contact to Watson's face with his shoulder.

But while most people expected the tough Eagle to at least be cited, the match review panel said the contact was 'not a bumping action' and insisted the incident was 'accidental' and 'not unreasonable'.

So is there anyone in here who doesn't think there'll be a Collingwood vs. Geelong grand final?

Me.

Port vs .... :(

Its definitely gotta be the Collywobbles vs Geelong. I just don't see how it can't be.

I'm a Geelong supporter and I think it'll be a lot tougher for us to get through than some are letting on.
I think Hawthorn will be a serious challenge and if we lose to them in the opening round then we can pretty much kiss our finals campaign goodbye. We'd eventually have to play Collingwood in the prelims and I don't see that being an easy task. We'll see how it goes in the last round.

I think it'll all depend on how the ladder falls and how the early games play out in the finals.

If Hawks beat us in the opener then I'd comfortably put them in the GF game. I don't see other teams beating them. They're a stronger side then Geelong is atm. Sure we thumped GC and Melb but we've struggled in a lot of games lately.
Baring an upset to Collingwood you'd have to put them in the GF also. I would love to see them get knocked out earlier.

I don't see West Coast being able to get past Hawthorn or Geelong in the prelims tbh. Stk, Syd, Ess I don't see really challenging. Though with the right games you never know. Nth could be the dark horse, I haven't seen them play much but they've played some decent footy against some good sides last month or two. Carl is an odd one. Not sure if they can beat Haw but against Geel it may be close.

My hope for the flag: Anyone but Collingwood.

I had the displeasure of going to the Carlton Hawthorn game on friday night hoping to see a great spectacle of two top 4 teams going toe to toe in front of a packed house. As an impartial supporter, I just wanted to see a great game.

boy was I disappointed.

What was on display was one of the worst games, skill wise, I have ever seen. Yes Franklin kicked 4 goals including a great running effort but he also shanked a few, and other than those 4 goals was largely anonymous for large parts of the game. The amount of clangers between the two teams was atrocious, as was the inept kicking for goal. I mean, almost 40 behinds for the two teams? Really?

Based on what I saw neither Collingwood nor Geelong should be fearful of those two. I think any other team would have absolutely thrashed either side on Friday night and the question was not who was the better team, but basically who sucked less. In the end, that was Hawthorn.

I tipped a Collingwood Hawthorn Grand Final about 2 months ago.

Sticking to it.

Geelong hasn't beaten Hawthorn in a final in 48 years. Don't see it starting now.

Ben Hudson retires. I guess he realized the writing was on the wall once he was dropped by the stand in coach.

A bit of a surprise, since he was having a good year, averaging nearly 17 disposals and over 22 hit outs per game, well above his average last year which had him finish high in the best and fairest.

THE SYDNEY Swans are in deep mourning after the passing of Luella McVeigh, the baby daughter of co-captain Jarrad and his wife Clementine.

McVeigh won't face Geelong this Saturday after the four-week old tragically passed away in Westmead Hospital on Wednesday afternoon from the serious heart complications she was born with last month.

McVeigh and Clementine were by her side when she died.

The Swans will wear black armbands for Luella, who was born on July 25, when they take on the Cats at Skilled Stadium.

Essendon

Essendon don't really have the best run in to the finals, 2 byes in a row...

;__;

Awfully quiet today. One massive upset and near upset.

The list of retirees continues, with Luke Power announcing he'll hang up the boots at the end of the season. Reckon he could have played on, but I guess it's time to let another young talent assume a key role in their midfield.

Also, Brendon Fevola kicked 10 in the VFL, 43 in the last 6 weeks. A chance? I reckon someone should pick him up. The guy's a sensational footballer and maybe he can turn his career around like both Ben Cousins and Barry Hall have.

I took a risk and picked Bris to beat Wce this week. Almost paid off for me. They had been playing some pretty competitive footy Brisbane. I was so excited when they were up 13 in the 2nd and Nth were up 20. Almost immediately I regretted gloating about the Nth score lol.
Man, I was so close. I think I've lost our home tipping comp cause of the Bris/Nth loss.

I was right about Geelong. I've been disappointed with how we've been playing lately prior to yesterday's loss. I think us winning so much despite some very poor displays has glossed over that. Not looking forward to next week if we play poorly again.

I don't want Fevola back. He's already had many chances to turn his life around. I don't feel his talent was ever in question.

And like any champion of the game, sad to see Luke Power hang up the boots.

So close. Don't know whether to be happy we only lost by 7 and actually mostly played well, or upset we dropped a 34 point lead. Either way, not bad for the 'bye' team.

Would've been awesome to pip Essendon, but it was not to be =[

No legs to run out the match, that's the difference between a top 8 side and a bottom 9 side.

Can start tipping on the finals now.

Collingwood vs West Coast
Geelong vs Hawthorn
Carlton vs Essendon
St Kilda vs Sydney

Only point of contention is whether St Kilda or Sydney will host the final, other than that the matchups are set.

I'm going all upsets:
West Coast, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Essendon.

Umpires gave us the rub of the green. Thats probably partly why we won. But tbh i don't think our players actually gave a toss about playing port and once they realised they were on the verge of losing they popped into gear.

Port played very well though and if they played like that for most of this year they would not be on the bottom of the ladder.

Butcher will be a gun in a couple of years, really like the look of him! Treadea 2?

A West Coast win would be amazing..... I don't know if I'm going to the game tho, I expect a smashing and I don't feel like spending the day with 70k toothless collingwood fans

I really can't see West Coast beating Collingwood, but I can definitely see Hawthorn beating Geelong. A Collingwood vs. Hawthorn GF is a very real possibility in my mind.

Hopefully we can have a vastly improved season next year.

And I'm looking forward to seeing Butcher play at Adelaide Oval next weekend, hopefully he'll kick a tonne!

Okay so I'm ahead in the tips by 2 tips going into the final round. If I win I get $150 and I'm incredibly scared because nearly every game next week is a 50/50.

Wish me luck D:

I'm pretty psyched for the Adelaide Oval match, hopefully the weather stays nice.

Port were great last night. It's one of the few times all year they actually took the game on.

Saints losing will be an upset? I dunno, we're one of the in form teams of the competition at the moment.

Does anyone want me to do the Finals tipping like we did last year? Was pretty successful and enough people ended up participating.

It's 25 and sunny on Saturday, then down to 19 with morning showers for Sunday =\

Hopefully they clear off before the match and the sun comes out!

I was gutted lol. I don't even like Port either. Just think you guys deserved to win from how well you played. Plus I wanted to see the Essendon fans I know suffer from all the shit they talked about how the game would be a cakewalk. Port losing was my disappointment for the week. ;)

I'm tipping Geelong to get knocked out without a win. Losses to Hawthorn then Saints.
I don't see anyone troubling Collingwood and Hawthorn making the GF.
I may change my mind depending on how Geelong play next week but I really don't see us being competitive at all. I think Collingwood will play to prove a point.

So who here has made the pilgrimage to Mecca on that last day in September/October?

I made the trek 7 years ago and it was an amazing experience!
