While his reaction was over the top she had no business up there committing sexual harassment on him by grinding her ass against him. He's an asshole and she's scum.
I shouldn't be surprised by some of these responses anymore on GAF. People defending the punch? Wow. Maybe we need to raise the age level to join. I can't comprehend an adult over the age of 20 with significant life experience thinking this punch is OK and that she deserved it.

This has to be a record for a thread of this size and nature to not have any bans.

That is not how self defense works.
Like, you think he had a reasonable fear of serious injury or death?
At the very (like very VERY) least, this is battery.
Also the creepy undercurrent of "why should she be treated differently just because she's a female?" Which is kind of a new trend on GAF and one I find super disturbing.

I 100% believe that it would be construed as a sexual assault had it been a drunk male, and no one would be talking jail time for a female performer who clocked him upside his head. Laws aren't supposed to have sexual double standards. It does us all a disservice to say "he's a guy, he should have just dealt with it." Either invading a performer's personal space is wrong, or it isn't.

Both men and women are capable of performing the same harmful/harmless actions to, say, a performing artist on stage.
Just because she is female doesn't mean she should receive special treatment other than what is biologically necessary for her.
I think we're being honeydicked.
I think Bish is waiting for his face to be shopped onto Afroman, and then begins the Banpocalypse.

Actually, they are equals and should be treated as such but because of beliefs indoctrinated into large sections of society the two sexes continue to be treated differently. This thread could be used to further discuss the difference in standard treatment between the two sexes.men arent equals to women

Whoosh.
The point isn't whether men or women are physically equal (they are not, on average) the point is the creepy undercurrent of resentful misogyny that comes with it. There is definitely a weird little surge of people who feel compelled to state very quickly, that women deserve to be punched just like men, but I doubt these helpful feminist supporters feel the same way about salaries.
Anyway it's a real, pervasive thing on GAF these days and I am allowed to both notice and be disappointed by it.
Okay, I'm done with this if this is where this discussion is going. I've had enough female biology lessons from folks who support #GGBoth men and women are capable of performing the same harmful/harmless actions to, say, a performing artist on stage.

He shouldn't have hit her so hard that it knocked off her feet when there were myriad of other reasonable ways to respond, and really that's all there is to say. It's really disgusting and disturbing to see the mental gymnastics behind arguing that she deserved it and he was in the right for acting so violently.

I wasn't accusing you, I was just saying that I've seen enough biology lessons from those people over the last few months and was hoping that this discussion didn't descend into that.Oh no, I agree with you there. Afroman should not have hit her so hard. Not at all. It was unnecessary.
A simple push back would have been enough if Afroman felt his personal space invaded.
And on this note of #GG, I neither support it or am opposed to it. I restrain myself from getting involved in this issue as it is something that can become very personal very quick.
Because you made up some hypothetical gender spin on this it means that she "was asking for it"? Hmm, where have I heard this one before.

Beyond legal issues, if there was no security to keep 1 fan off stage, what was stopping people from rushing the stage?
Actually, they are equals and should be treated as such but because of beliefs indoctrinated into large sections of society the two sexes continue to be treated differently.
You put all kinds of words in my mouth considering what I implied was very straightforward.
Yes or no, if some dude jumped on the stage last week during the All Star game, is he or is he not getting carried out of there in a stretcher? And is he not public enemy #1 right now?

Civility? Politeness? Decorum?
This piece does a great job explaining the worldview issues that make it "ok" to them: https://www.geneseo.edu/webfm_send/3244. People aren't able to see men as victims and women as victimizers. In what world is this an appropriate answer?

Many people are more protective over women than they are over men..
But there are plenty of people who:
1) Wouldn't consider either case sexual assault if the sexes were reversed
2) Consider the violent reaction abhorrent regardless of the sexes.
I'll admit I'm MORE disgusted when I see a woman being knocked out by a man; it's how I was raised and it's what continues to make sense to me. But I don't promote violent assaults either way so I'm not going to go put a hypocrite hat on and sit in the corner. Nor do I think that being more protective over women is some god awful example of sexism; there is some sense to it.. women bare our children.
But the thing is we should be able to take gender out of this scenario and simply look at:
Person gets on stage a bit too drunk and performer smashes their face in.
Not sure how there are those (not you) that will do all these mental backflips to portray the overreacting performer as the victim....
Yeah and I'm not buying the idea that this thread would have turned out so incredibly differently.. there are plenty on neogaf who are anti-violence in general and don't only speak out against violence against women.
And she barely bumped up against the guy; so I have trouble believing this idea that everyone would be calling it a sexual assault either.
Video of the attack was seen around the world. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/liJ-zVfHvs8
"It makes me sick to my stomach to watch like every time I do watch it, and it's just upsetting," said Haley Byrd, speaking out for the first time since the incident exclusively to WLOX News.
Byrd arrived at Kress Live, a fan of Afroman. She left in fear of him.
"I don't really remember much after I was struck. I was in complete shock, and I just remember wanting to get away," said Byrd.
Although she was able to get up and walk off of the stage, Byrd still found herself in the hospital.
"I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had several facial contusions, and my whole right side of my face was swollen. I had a busted lip. It was bleeding, and I'm also seeing an oral surgeon for the alignment of my jaw. Until this day I'm still dealing with the anxiety issues," said Byrd.
