Damn, I am surprised at all the "meh" in this thread. I think it looks fucking great.

They really sold me on the basic concept here. I can sort of see what they're going for now, and with Whedon in charge, I know it's something I can get behind.

This will basically be like x-files with superheroes and supervillains, focusing on how SHIELD collaborates with heroes, works against villains. They can introduce all sorts of B and C level marvel universe stuff here, and have it woven into season plots. Recurring hero characters that become popular might become regulars or get spin-off shows.

As for the actors playing the young shield agents, I didn't see anything that was especially bad here, and I'm certainly not going to get super-judgmental about a lack of interesting characters based on a little trailer.

Also, this is a Whedon show, so I have faith that the characters will evolve and become more interesting as it goes along. Character growth is one thing he does very well in his shows.

Trailer look great to me. Can't wait for the pilot.

Seems GAF is being GAF again. Teaser = omg looks amazing!
Trailer = meh, at least there's coluson.

edit: still, there better be an explanation for Coulson besides "welcome to level 7" -_-

I am getting a very strong overly-serious-and-therefore-slightly-camp feeling. I hope this is watchable in the UK without a Sky subscription. :(

Im surprised that trailed footage had such a bland production value. There was really no memorable moment in it, no fancy CGI, the only kinda impressive scenes are with the Hercules airplane. At least they have that.

Samuel L Jackson just lied to the team to get em to work together right? I don't think he ever died.

He died in the theatrical cut. There you see the spear pierce through his chest.

In the bluray version they removed the tip.

They probably regretted killing him for real when they came up with the idea of the TV show so they tried to salvage it.

EW's reporting SHIELD is on Tuesdays, not Thursdays. (Yay!)

In the bluray version they removed the tip.
I thought this was a region-specific change? (that got spread around due to rampant piracy)

Eliza Dushku acts? Is this a new development?

Making her the lead on Dollhouse was such a huge mistake, if she was trying to hide the fact that she can't act. Her personality is an independant badass ... who talks like Eliza Dushku. Now she's a blind religious woman ... who talks like Eliza Dushku (with a cane!). Now she's blank and with no personality at all and ... yeah I can barely tell the difference.

Wait, really?

I thought they were just gonna go with 'we were able to save him, but kept it secret' angle. Any comparison pics of the spear theatrical vs Blu Ray?

that aspect reminded me of Burn Notice, without being able to act or having Bruce Campbell.

Well, the show doesn't exist without Eliza Dushku so that wasn't really an option.

This could be really bad if the CG isn't up to par. Trailer is kinda lukewarm for me. Hope that isn't Luke Cage.

The glory of the retcon. He was a life model decoy! A skrull! It was all a dream!

I'm almost positive it's going to be life model decoy. Fury has had his decoy killed countless times, I don't see why Coulson would not have the same. And the LMD is in the universe since Stark jokes about being one in the very same movie.

I cant find any footage of the theatrical scene, but there are comparisons between the us and european bluray releases, so maybe it was just a localisation thingy that happened.

Still tho, I like my theory better :P

I don't know, I liked the trailer, looks like it has potential. I don't expect a TV show to be a blockbuster movie, I hope it focuses more on developing characters and long arcs, otherwise it will get boring fast.

I'm not sure how I feel about this based on the trailer. Hated all the Whedonesque quippy lines. I'm so completely over that shit.

I'm also skeptical that a broadcast network show will have the production time and budget to pull this off week-to-week.

No, no, no. They removed the spear in Europe thanks to Germany. My Region 1 BluRay has the spear intact.

It was censorship, not retconning.

Wow, I wasn't expecting them to show so much in the trailer. Awesome.

I'm guessing Fury faked Coulson's death so he can motivate the Avengers and head up Level 7 agents.

Perfect intermingling of mehs and borings on here usually means that I will love it.
Looking forward to it!

Now let's push they get Tomas Jane in a cameo, please? just a few seconds and i can die happy ..

YEAH BOY.

Of course they'd have to cast young(ish) (with a few exceptions).

It looks good to me. I'm excited. Loved the part with Coulson introducing himself.

Coulson is a fan-favorite I think because:

1. He's in his 40's- an age lots of us comic readers are in these days
2. He comes off as Joe-6-pack.

For me, moreso the second reason than the first. I'm 23, but Coulson's just awesome. Just a regular dude who is totally awesome.

Any word on if this is coming to UK at all?

Also trailer doesnt do much for me, i get the understandable vibe its going to be 90-95% "Lets follow clues and talk to each other" and 5% watchable action scenes, kind of like what heroes was in season 1.
