Yeah, they only had open 'windows' for closed beta.
It says somewhere on their forums that the last Beta Window (#6) was the last test for closed beta.

Hmm, so subscribing to PCGamer (UK) does have its perks. I received my magazine this week, and it had a beta key with it to play Aion until it's launch, yey.
I had already tried the game once (Thanks to a one time only CB key from Fileplay), so I have an idea as to what to do, maybe this will push me into actually buying the game.

Still waiting to hear when Open Beta starts...the Devs keep saying they'll announce it "this week", but nothing so far.

Still no word on the open beta/preview yet, huh?
Gives me time to figure out which class I'm going to try first. Has anyone here tried a Ranger? If so, how did it play? Or maybe someone can't point me somewhere that has a better description than the official site. Thanks.

The forums on AionSource.com seem to not like the Ranger class. Seems to be this game's "broken class". Don't know how much merit the whining has though since I've yet to play. I tend to pick the fucked up classes (played an Alchemist in Asheron's Call 2).

Yeah, I seem to be prone for the broken classes too. Went with White Lion in WarHammer and that damn lion didn't listen to me at all!
Well, I guess I'll try Rangers out during the open beta. I'll also try the Spiritmaster considering I've always been a fan of pet classes.

I played Ranger in the last 2 closed beta's I got it up to 19 and that is when it was just starting to shine. From what I hear around lvl 25 they get really good. Compared to Gladiator they are slower leveling but I still had fun.
Well, seems that's the version everyone used for Closed Beta. If it turns out not to work we'd all have to redownload the whole thing. :lolcrustikid said:

Ranger is one of the best PvP class actually. It's true, the ranger is difficult to lv but at lv19 they begin to shine and tri-shot people at lv30 in the abyss. ;P

The only class broken is the spiritmaster because their pets can't fly but they have other weapons (fear, cancel fly mode, ect..)

Yes and no. You can still cancel the animation of your skill by jumping but you can't unload the full skillchain in one jump.
1.5 give more critical bonus to 2 hand weapon(includes bow) and reduces the cooldown of 2 skills so in the end the ranger is still very good.

Well the group had 1 spot left and while they already had a healer and weren't advertising for another they did want another healer. I asked if they need a Ranger and I was shot down immediatly due to no having sleep arrow which is a lvl 21 skill. How they thought I would have that at level 17 I will never know, I told them nevermind and went on my way. After about 5-10 mins of waiting and looking for another group and them not being able to find another healer they decided to invite the lowly Ranger with no Sleep Arrow.
I can see the potential for some job to be not as wanted in the beginning due to lack of skills but if you get into a good Legion that should never be a problem. Also with version 1.5 there are more quest that are available at that level. Overall I had a lot of fun playing Ranger and it has made my decision on what to play that much harder but play what you want because every class that I have tried has been very fun! Are you EU or NA gaf?

This. Though, I'm not surprised. The Summoner class in Lineage II was broken as hell till they finally fixed it, took a couple years though. SM definitely won't be one of the sought after classes for battles, since you're pet can't fly and you're rather weak without it. They're good in PVE, and 1on1 though. And it sounds like the ranger doesn't really start to show his stuff until lvl 19+. Hopefully I can play enough to get him there and see what it's like.
Just play with a group and it shouldn't take you long at all. Soloing with Rangers was kind of annoying, at least early on. Also, those bastards are expensive to maintain. At least if you're starting out for the first time, well to me they were. Maybe I was just use to my low maintenance rich ass SM :lolConfused101 said:

The NA legion was Asmodian in the CB events so I'm assuming it will be the same at launch (assuming though, don't know for certain). I'm wondering if the EU and NA GAF legion leaders could perhaps make a thread in the Online / Matchup Forum and we can start getting organized with a list of who is interested / on-board?KaYotiX said:Going Gladiator

Yeah I was thinking we needed to start getting organized and getting names of everyone that wants in. I will talk with Velion tonight after we do out CoP run on FFXI and get the ball rolling. One thing that we should address before hand is what is the Legion name going to be. So far in the beta we used SoD on the Zikel server and Destiny on the Vaziel server. Both of those names are renditions of out FFXI LS Stars of Destiny. Also after reading up on Legions once are upgraded you can upload your own Legion Emblem which I thought was pretty cool. We could call it GAF and upload the GAF logo lol
