Aw, they are weaker at higher levels? Damn, was going to make Aion the first game I played a buffer in.

Have to hit lvl 9 I think to start a legion, so whoever gets up there first or whatever can start it, or well Id say one of the more organized people like jbird.
 
sigh.. downloaded the CB to OB patch and now the updater is very slowly attempting to patch the game one tiny file at a time, it's been on 0% for about half an hour. This game is just a mess on the technical side of things, problems all across the board

login, get to server select, Vaizel.

Then it instantly says 'disconnected from server' when I hit Accept and shuts down to desktop automatically wtf.

Nah, not for me. I torrented to CB to OB patch, installed it, the NCSoft updater verified the files in maybe 20 min and only had to download 17mb to finish it off. Total, only took 30 min to get from CB to OB, excluding patch download time which I did overnight.

Yeah. Stupid behavior, but when it can't connect to a server it just shuts down the client. Having to restart the thing up only to get booted to the desktop again is a pain in the ass.

Anyone actually playing on Vaizel right now? Or is the server just down?
 
For the EU Legion: Are we going Asmodians as well on release? Or is that just for the OB, I thought there was chat about being Elyos a few weeks ago.

Btw, 2 people from work, maybe one or a few more, would want to join the EU legion as well after release.

Yep, defininetly rolling Asmod in retail. And awesome for bringing people along. :D Getting close to level 10, Legion should be up by the end of the day.

I should have started the official torrent DL last week. This might take a day or so to finish, but I should be on tomorrow night (NA, don't know anything else other than that.)
 
For those that haven't downloaded the client, I updated it last night around this time, it was around 3 GB from the NCsoft launcher, about 1 hour later the download was completed. I have a 20 Mbps connection.


And I just changed my pre-order from Amazon to NCsoft, so the purchase is done and I'm ready to start on the 22(?).

I'll gladly help with anything for the legion.

What's wrong with Chanter? Roll what you will like, not based on some other need.

Didn't mean to discourage you or give you the wrong impression. I just heard from C-Aion players that their melee power weakens after 30 and they go into a more support role. I don't have any experience with the class over 20, so I can't tell if that's true or not. C-Aion isn't a ver 1.5 either so things may have changed since then.

I wouldn't write the chanter off until you try it at least. Like I said I had a lot of fun playing it in CB2. They get the best buffs in the game. They are more of a buffer/melee with a few weak heals instead of a typical healer/melee. If that sounds like something you want to do, then try it out. That's what beta is for. Just play what you think would be fun. ;)
 
Okay, I've now tried it on two pretty much totally different machines, and the gameguard crap still keeps aborting the game after a few minutes with the "game or game guard modified" bullshit. Of course, nobody at ncsoft or anywhere else on the internet can help.
I've got *one* more machine to try it on, but if the Korean piece of garbage 'protection' still acts like a total asshole, I guess I won't be playing the OB after all (or ordering the game). Pity, because the ~10 minutes I have managed to play (in blocks of ~2 minutes) were pretty fun and the production quality of the game itself seems nice.

I know it's open beta, but all it's done so far is make me want to go play WoW.

Aion looks like a nice game, polished enough and all, but it's hard to connect with a world you've never been in before.

That's one thing WoW has always had going for it, and I guess that's a problem just about any other new IP MMO is going to have to deal with. They've got to fight for my attention!
 
Yep we got the EU legion up and running for this beta. Was a tale of epic starter zone blasting, brax skin rugs and lots of peeing.

Feel free to message us for an invite. Most people seemed to start out as warriors and scouts so far.

I guess you never played Beta or the first 4-5 months of WoW.......you could hardly stay in the game or even log in.....stick with it. They all start off this way for the most part.
 
US gaf server was lagging way too much. created a character on a low population server to try... will try to create gaf char again

So I tried to patch on my Boot camp'd Mac and it utterly failed. Had to redownload the whole 9GB open client. Thing is I don't have enough space with said 9GB of setup files and I had to offload it to a USB1.0 external which took about 2 hours. Now installing it off said external has been running for another 1hr 30m+. Good times....

Are you one of those that never liked to change grades in school, or that doesn't like changing your work environment, or like you nver live your town since it will be too hard for you to connect with a place you've never been before?

Do you play any new offline games at all, or just drop them after the first 20 minutes?
 
Bah! Game just died on me. Oh well, no worries. Server is going offline for about 10mins in a few mins anyway.

Had great fun with the EU guys. Hope to see most of you on there tomorrow. :D
