Aion: The Tower Of Eternity

I probably won't go to a EAST server though ;/ i'm on west coast and work untill late mostly and all.

this. I don't even get home until 7:30-8 PST...

someone said all of the servers are actually located in the east coast regardless, so I guess ping is going to be kinda lame anyway,

Does anyone have any information one when they're going to allow classes to use other classes stigma stones again?

Apparently in the beginning any class could use any stigma stone, but it was too unbalanced so they made them class restricted. They claimed they would later tinker this out so other classes could use them without it being unbalanced, is there anymore news on this?

Can't wait till this weekend. Played Aion a little bit in OB and really enjoyed it. Was thinking of rolling on the Azphel server, but it's looking like it'll be one of the more crowded ones. We'll see.

Come play with the Neogaf legion!

Strength in numbers!

Edit: Kirashi - Actually, an East Coast server for a West Coast player is pretty advantageous.
You get to level and pvp during off hours, where you won't stand a chance of the pvp being overcrowded, and the leveling areas won't be too packed.

Siege will be only at specific hours, that pretty much means i am SOL if that time is anywhere near 7-11pm EST, because, i would barely be home around 11pm EST most of the time.

Well I just got an awesome email....my Aion CE box has shipped and should be in my hands thurs or fri!!!

Will I take a picture and flaunt it in the Pick-ups thread? Hells Yes!

Someone should make a thread in the Online section for the US Legion. The EU has one already. I would..but I don't have privileges.

I am working on it!

@Blue Heeler you suck :lol

I'm in the same boat, but I didn't even know about the Siege bit.. Sirpopopop had some good points about potentially easier questing / leveling / pking, but no siege would pretty much be a deal breaker.

Until 3 months down the line and the medium pop eastern server is now low pop and empty off eastern peak with the addittion of the siege times being horrible.

Western times are pretty much all around better if you discard that horrible For everyone Wednesday only time.

Ehh I suppose the Siege time situation could be rough, but the whole "Server losing population" is a risk for any server except the two overpopulated ones. At the end of the day when those servers go south, it becomes empty all hours of the day.

All servers have the risk but starting higher allows more leeway, I think it's really silly to not pick a high pop (but not siel/israphel) server. Nezekan and Azphel both have groundswell to be serious servers but not the zerginess of the 2 huge servers. This game isn't going to be wow, the people that potentially want to play the game seriously/longterm are going to be screwed by shortsighted dodging of the possibility of short term queues at launch.

Well that is one reason we reconsidered the Vaziel server and went with Zikel. I know that forums are not the best indicators of what the server population will be but from browsing the 2 forums Zikel will be much more active than Vaziel. Also what happens when after the first month or two and everyone that piled into Siel or Israphel don't renew and those servers end up being the low pop server. WAR is a good example of that happening all of the cool server to go to ended up being the ones that got emptied out first. I just hope that this server will be one that has a good population that lasts. There is honestly no way to tell unless someone has a DeLorean and a Flux Capacitor... :lol

On the other hand, if you go to a server that's populated by large guilds now, when they tire of Aion and move on, that can decimate a server. It happend in both AoC and War. I'll be rolling on Azphel regardless.

Right that's why I said siel and israphel are bad too. Like essentially they are a first tier server, whereas you want to be on a second tier server, zikel seems to be 3rd tier or maybe 4rth (noones talking about it plus it's alphabetically at the bottom of the list)

edit: well there's supposedly a huge Zerg of wow phoenix throne players going over together and spamming the boards. Though to me that sounds like the exact power vaccuum situation that you just mentioned.

Phoenix Throne was a Warhammer Online RP server...not WoW. ;)

It seems like there will be 4 really high pop. US servers at launch.

Siel & Nezekan on the west
Israphel & Azphel on the east

Who knows what will happen when those people start logging in to queues and what not. There's only 16 US servers with a 5k player cap. What happens if they have to make more servers. No way of knowing which servers will last with a healthy population. We can only take a chance on our choices and hope for the best.

I for one am glad that my FFXI LS chose a "seemingly" less populated server to start on. With Massively reporting over 300,000 pre-order sales for Aion, I don't think long queues is out of the question. Not to mention the worst griefers tend to flock to the popular servers anyway. It's not even certain how the in-game economy will look like. So to me it's a win-win.

STOP THE PRESSES!!!!

FLYING PETS ARE COMING!

Spiritmaster was going to be my main, but as soon as I heard the pets couldn't go airborn, I went Gladiator...now I'm back to SM! Hopefully they get this into the game fast.

The flying pets trailer almost made me cry - the old pet staying behind and whining audibly.

Too bad the game isn't that much fun based on what I have played of it.

You guys need to come to Azphel, it has the largest number of declared legions right now.

Well there are currently 48 declared Asmodian legions and 32 Elyos on the Zikel server. We can't please everyone and I know there will be some people roll on other servers but we made the decision we felt would best benefit this legion. Sorry you won't be playing with us for release best of luck to you!

Its going to come down to a coin flip if I play past tthe headstart. Got a bunch of stuff coming up... =/ I may wait for a month and see how bad the drop off is before jumping in completely.

So I just realised how much of an advantage it comes to us European players that our head start starts at the exact same date as the American head start, but our retail doesn't officially open until 3 days after America's retail. We'll have a 5-day advantage over the people who didn't pre-order instead of 2. :D

Pets can fly now? Fuck Templar, SM all the way.

Not yet. The UNCONFIRMED video says Fall...but that might be for Korea and then we get it later...but hey, I can suffer for a month or so as long as I know that eventually my pet will fly.

Same here. I'm not sure I'll have enough time to play this and I don't want to get burned like in WAR where I had to switch servers 3 times over the 4 months I played.

Hmm... only 5k player max per server?

Yeah, for GAF since quite a few posters will be late adopters - gotta go with a less populated server.

Hmm, yeah, you're right. If we don't get the update the same time as Korea, hopefully the wait isn't that long. I'm just surprised they fixed it so fast, well in comparison to their turnarounds for previous games. They really have learned a lot since Lineage II. God knows how long they made us wait till they fixed the pet class in that game.

Here:

The key to launching an MMORPG of Aion's magnitude is communication. We been keeping everyone following the game aware of what our plans are and listened to your feedback, creating a dialog with you. We've also kept an eye on the various Aion communities, talked to Aion community members, and compared what they have said and requested with our beta test data. Based on all this input, we have decided to launch Aion with an Oceanic server set to GMT+10.

Our Oceanic communities have already masterfully executed unofficial polls indicating their server desires. To honor these community efforts, the North American server Nezekan will be adjusted to an Oceanic time zone and event schedule immediately. The server will however not be labeled as an Oceanic server right away, but we plan on changing that in a patch within the first two weeks after launch. We are doing everything we can until then to let everyone know about the plans for Nezekan's future time zone schedule to allow players to make informed decisions.

We experienced some frustrating technical difficulties with the surveys we launched early this week meant to help roleplayers and language-specific communities choose their unofficial game servers. Many Aion communities saw a need to coordinate their members and were much quicker than we were to organize surveys. We have decided to honor their hard work by permanently taking our own survey down, since we have no desire to interfere with what our great communities accomplish or cause confusion. We will continue to work with the fansites in our Fansite Program to promote their community survey results.

Stay tuned for more information on Aion's release, and be sure to follow us on Twitter (@aion_ayase, @aion_liv, @aion_xaen, @aion_amboss.

Anyone know when the pre selection thing starts tomorrow?

...this is actually an excellent question. I work from 10-5 (pst) tomorrow and I'd hate to be at work while this happens D: although there's always remote desktop; I could just just nail my character name and then redo it when I get home.. there must be some universal time that this is all going down.

and here it is:

Preselection begins this Friday at noon PDT (3PM EDT).

Looks like I'll have to have it set up with remote desktop =\ noon on a Friday.. pff

I am taking a late (CST) lunch tomorrow so I can make my character, of course it help that I my house is about 5mins from where is work

What are you crazy people talking about?

NA :lol

Not sure what you're laughing at, but on the official website, it's 12pm PST.

Is this really true? I've read some places mention the EU headstart will begin on the 23rd.. but I really wouldn't mind it starting on the 20th as well :p
