AKIBA'S TRIP: Undead Undressed now on Steam!

There was a post I saw somewhere where they were able to hex edit the resolution to higher 4k and 2560x1440 or whatever you prefer, seems it worked, but game crashes when I do it.

Kind of a stop gap and really annoying way but it seemed to downsample the resolution and the game does look better from screenshots i've seen.

Yeah I should of saved some, but the thread was archived and i closed it after i posted this, like i said it doesnt work for me or I would post a screenshot from me, the game just closes after clicking new game or loading a save. Its just something "simple" to try if anyone else wanted to, you can use any hex editor and it auto resets the config file if you dont make it read only so if the game crashes when you hit play like me you can easily reset it back, sorry for the no screenshot should of thought of that before hand, my bad.

not the best screenshots but i just tried the hex thing
before
after

It ended up bringing my fps down to 25 since I used the 3840x2160 res from the tutorial thing above. Guess I'll have to go lower than that.

oh okay cool, was wondering how I would reset it to default

So the internal resolution is not lower than the display? I'm not tech-savy; can someone explain if we'll potentially see a fix other than the hex downsampling / higher display res?

I'm so tempted to double-dip on this, but I don't really feel like I've finished with the Vita version yet. These downsampled screenshots aren't helping me resist.

So once again a Japanese dev with no idea what they're doing and no one checking the port before release. Great.

It's doubly funny because of how they listened to the fan feedback and enabled 19 resolutions or whatever.

If you are going to add support for more, why not just support all the resolutions windows supports. Query that list. Use it. DOOOO IIIIT.

Yeah I kind of trusted them to make a good port after they seemed to listen to requests. The game was made by Acquire internally, so I'm not blaming XSEED here though.
be glad that you're getting those games at all instead.
I already have the game. The PC version would just be a nice bonus and I have no need for a half-assed port like this. How hard can it be to do resolution options right? I'm really not asking for much more.

really? why not? it's a (late) port of a playstation game that some people now get to play on their pcs. Why should they have extras and enhancements just because...

It's resolution options! No one is asking for anything else here. Durante programmed those into Dark Souls in a matter of hours.

Well dynamic resolution options are kinda standard for modern 3D titles. It's absence is noted since a vast majority of other games have it which makes this stick out like a sore thumb.

I heard in Steam community forum, they have acknowledge the problems and are working on it.
After 2 hours of playing, it's not that bad, the potential for being a better port is there. Just give them some time.
Anyway, am I the only one who need to disable Steam Overlay so the game not crashed and being unresponsive? Disabling Steam Overlay fixed my problems, but it seems the achievement pop-up not is shown if I disable it.

I didn't disable it and the game runs good so far. No freezes, no crashes. But my sessions are usually not that long (about 30-45 min) because I always bounce back to Witcher 3 :,D

Why even comment if you have no clue about PC gaming? It is fairly reasonable to expect proper resolution options since like forever. Also, are you seriously convinced that XSeed is publishing this on PC as an act of charity?

Are you using Nvidia or AMD? My friend ran it on AMD-powered laptop (not sure which) and everything is smooth.
I can't even enter the game if:
1. Game is in full screen, and
2. Steam overlay enabled.

I disable SO and it runs fine. GT630M laptop here.

Well Aquire is porting two more games over to pc iirc(Way of the Samurai 4 and Mind Zero), so hopefully they get better at this by then. WotS 4 was already delayed a few times, maybe they are really putting effort into that one.

Yeah. It is delayed almost half a year now. It better be good.

Regarding Way of the Samurai 4, I am quite sure that the port is coming along nicely. Ghostlight and a bunch of beta testers (some of which are GAF members) are helping them out. Ross of Ghostlight recently said they squashed some long lingering bugs.

Awesome, out of all the games they are porting over that is the one I am most interested in.

Thanks this fixed my crashing issue, game now loads fine.

Having a blast with this game, never owned the consoles, so this is all new to me. Sure the combat is clunky, but it hasn't ruined anything for me. Also, I did the quest that unlocks cross dressing and now my guy looks like a fashion nightmare, lol.

Saw that Hex edit and tried 4k res, looks great.

Yeah this definitely seems like a case of developers not understanding the problem and finding their own weird solution.

The resolution fix looks a lot better.

Oh if anyone didnt want to try and use the hex editor, I uploaded my config.dat its set for windowed mode, no anti-aliasing and 4k resolution atm. If the game crashes try disabling steam overlay and use alt+enter to goto fullscreen

Also somone posted a guide on the steam community hub with the same image and some comparison pictures if you wanted to check it out.

Having fun despite the crashes but can someone unlock the framerate already?

This stuff takes real work and real time from real people, if its going to happen at all. This post comes off in poor taste. You shouldn't be asking users to hack the framerate, you should be asking the developers to properly support their game.

How is it poor taste? I tweet about it to the team but if they don't implement it and someone is working on a way to unlock it its not a big deal. Im not forcing anyone in a single way to work just to unlock the framerate just for me.

The stating "can someone unlock the framerate already?" sounds impatient and as if you're expecting someone to be working on and making a framerate unlock. It seems that with every half baked PC release, the first response by people is "No worries, modders will fix it." rather than "Developers, give PC players the baseline features they expect."

I don't believe players should expect modders to fix games and I don't think players should be letting devs off the hook so easily. The post saying "Can someone unlock the framerate already?" rather than something like "Is anyone working on a framerate unlock?" makes it look like there is an expectation of modders to fix it is all. It's a small difference, but one reads as grateful for modders support, and the other seems to take it for granted. I'm not saying you aren't grateful for it, just that its the way the post reads.

You are simply over reacting over the post. Chill.

I've been applying a "30 FPS" tag on Steam for these. It's been happening more often. Sid Meier's Starships, some adventure games... bah.

I'd be really surprised if anyone manages to get it to hit 60. Usually it's not just a configuration file change.

It's not so bad for controller-based games. It's when you're trying to mouse around that it gets a bit rough at 30.

Anyone else notice how the IRL display video ads are saved as mp4 files in the game directory? They could probably be swapped easily for some weirdness.

Yup, that worked. 4K screenshot:

(guess the CA came back)

It seems like any kind of effect gets rendered at a lower resolution. For example, speech bubbles cause the portions of characters behind them to look pixelated. Overall pretty good though.

Nvm, got it.

Ignore: The launcher listed the resolution at 720 though. Do I bypass it by going straight to the game exe or just use it to launch?

You still have to use the launcher, but when you click play it will say unable to access config.dat. It doesn't matter as it still accesses the file, it just cant edit it in read only mode, and it will load with whatever settings are in your current config.dat
