All future AMC shows will stream exclusively on Hulu

The announcement on Hulu's blog pretty much implies they won't be streaming AMC shows the day after they air on television. So you'll have to wait at least until the season ends:

New Exclusive Licensing Agreement with AMC Networks Inc.

Hulu announced a groundbreaking, multi-year deal with AMC Networks Inc. for the exclusive SVOD rights to new and upcoming primetime scripted comedy and drama series from AMC, IFC, BBC America, Sundance TV and WE tv. The new agreement will make Hulu the exclusive streaming home to the highly anticipated companion series to The Walking Dead, titled: Fear the Walking Dead. Through the deal, Hulu will – over time – become the SVOD home to a diverse and comprehensive collection of AMC Networks Inc.-produced content.

Hulu will also become the streaming home for a significant number of films from the IFC Films collection.

Full seasons of future series produced by AMC Networks will be available to stream exclusively on Hulu following their network season runs.

People acting like Hulu is Hitler my god. Half the time the ads are 30 seconds. And more importantly I sort of like the breaks. Gives me time to answer a text or grab a drink without pausing the show.

I pay for Hulu and Netflix. 20 bucks a month and I can watch pretty much every show I want.

Why would Hulu change when people like you are content to pay money for a a sub-standard viewing experience.

I only care deeply about this if they only keep the five most recent episodes or some bullshit. If they keep all the episodes, it's fine

If this is only for New shows, as opposed to existing shows being removed/not receiving updated seasons then I don't care. I still get cable and if they can keep showing interesting shows I will keep DVRing (and paying for it).

Well... If they're Hulu Plus exclusive, it looks like I won't be watching anymore AMC shows.

I've stopped paying for commercials. They interrupt the flow of the episode, I don't like it, and I'm not going to pay for that viewing experience.

Netflix + HBO Now + Antenna & HTPC DVR is MORE than enough for me for me to watch.

Your loss AMC. Hulu Plus sucks with it's commercials.

I'd like the shows I watch and enjoy to continue having a long life and existence, as opposed to being pirated to death.

EDIT: It's also still way better and cheaper than cable.

I got in on Mad Men and Breaking Bad because of Netflix. No way am I going to pay for Hulu and still live with ads on that stuff.

Yeah, even if you pay for it, youre still getting ads with Hulu which is why I can't see how some people prefer Hulu over Netflix/Prime

People like Hulu because it has currently airing television shows.

Why does this need to be explained in every Hulu-related thread?

fuck amc and fuck hulu

mad men is about to be over, wont need your garbage ass after that

Fuck the haters, this is great news. Not getting new episodes of AMC shows was one of the few huge gaps in content for cordcutters.

Even if this were Netflix instead of Hulu they wouldn't get new episodes the day after they air like Hulu (at least in the US).

I am quite pleased.

I don't like this future where I'm going to need to sign up for a bunch of different audio and video streaming services to get access to everything I want to watch/listen to.

Isn't that sort of the inevitability of cord cutting? A sort of ala carte streaming syndication model where you pick and choose what services you want. And of course that wouldn't be just one service, but multiple services competing against each other.

I don't really mind the commercials on Hulu, but I hate that they added them to Party Down.

Have they added (more) commercial breaks to any other shows?

In the future you'll just have to have a bunch of different services to have access to the shows you like.

I guess if it doesn't exist on Netflix I'll just have to pretend it doesn't exist. No way I'll be carrying a bunch of different subscriptions for one or two shows.

In the future? This has been the reality from Day 1. Netflix only ever carried 10-20% of what was on television.

I'm sure Fear the Walking Dead will be put up in Netflix's other regions. Thank you, sweet Unblock Us.

DAMN, Hulu going HAM!!

Exclusive rights to all(ish) future:

FX
AMC
SundanceTV
IFC
WeTV
BBC America
TBS
TNT
Adult Swim
Cartoon Network

series, as well as the exclusive rights to Seinfeld and Empire.

That's mighty impressive.

Hulu has different content than Netflix/Prime. Like...episodes the day after they air on TV.

Most of the people complaining about hulu haven't looked at Hulu in the last year or two, I suspect. All stream services = same in their minds (unless its a channel specific stream).

People like Hulu because it has currently airing television shows.

I rather wait a year and watch it on Netflix/prime than put up with ads. Netflix/prime have plenty of good content to keep me busy in the meanwhile. People shouldn't be supporting Hulu unless they want an ad-filled future.

Yeah with Netflix/Hulu/Amazon basically splitting the major cable network rights, I think I'm going to stick with a standard provider and utilize their on-demand service. Sure I'll miss out on exclusives like Orange is the new Black and Community, but at least I'll get ALL the cable networks on one platform.

Hulu ads = 30 - 90 seconds tops

Cable Commercial Break = 3 - 5 minutes

Everyone complaining about Hulu ads must enjoy waiting a year for their shows to come on Netflix, or buying them separately on blu-ray. I will take Hulu's ad break over cable's endless onslaught any day.

You want something to complain about with Hulu? Try how some shows only keep a certain number of episodes on the services at a time, so if you don't watch for a few weeks you could be fucked as episodes drop off.
