Already feeling overwhelmed with games on your next gen console(s)?

Haha, surprised at the posts in this thread -- especially after all of the months of building next gen launch hype.

You're surprised that the first few weeks of a launch doesn't have 100's of AAA games to play?

Launches are always weak. Rarely is there a real 'standout', you get a few decent cross gen games with some hopes of a great 1st party. Sucks that a lot of them were pushed back like DriveClub and Watch Dogs. Those were my two most anticipated.

Personally, this is one of my favorite launches, I'm having a blast playing NFS:Rivals, co-op Lego Marvel with the fiance, and AC IV can't be praised enough. Along with KZ for my FPS needs (it's average) ... but that's a pretty damned solid launch IMO.

I feel like I have just the right amount to play at the moment. AC4 (the only retail game I've bought for my PS4 so far) is gonna last me a looooong time, it's pretty massive. Then there's the wonderful Resogun, the slightly less wonderful (but still worthy of a playthrough IMO) Contrast, the beautiful Flower, and finally the F2P games. Quite a lot of stuff to play for just paying for the console, AC4 and PS+.

I've also just started playing Dragon's Dogma on my PS3 (got it free on PS+), so I'm set. Going from the crisp, smooth PS4 games to DD's unstable framerate and muddy IQ is quite jarring though, but I can deal with that.

Not at all on my PS4. Just AC4 and BF4 for me but not much else excites me. For someone that's not interested in racers and fails see much in Infamous Second Son but eye candy I'm not too happy about the next few months.

???

When did I say that?

I was bumped out about Watch_Dogs too but I'm still having a lot of fun with a good number of the launch window games.

BF4
NFS: Rivals
AC: IV
NBA 2K14
Lego Marvel
Resogun
Contrast
Escape Plan
Flower

I have plenty to do. I'll probably pick up Killzone, Knack and FIFA next month or so. Not worried about a drought at all. I want to go back and finish some PS3 games but I'm having too much fun with the new stuff

OP maybe there's no games at launch of your interest. You buy a console for the long run not for instant gratification. That's why I always wait a year by fall 2014 the catalog is gonna be good enough.

???

What you said here:

I figured you were correlating a launch with tons of games, since you were surprised that many in this thread seemed underwhelmed by the launch lineup. I was just stating that launches are usually weak. I may have misread what you typed. I'm already in 'vacation' mode since I have one more day then 5 days off ...

I bought 4 games for my PS4

Knack -> Sucks big time, couldn't play it for more than 5 hours.
KZ -> Mediocre FPS with nice coat of Next Gen paint, boring too.
Battlefield 4 -> Broken game
AC4 -> Fucking awesome game, already finished it.
Res0gun -> Fucking awesome game, the only reason my PS4 is turned on every day

After this disappointing launch, I went to the mall, bought a WiiU and been playing Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101 and Skyward Sword non stop.

Now I'm waiting for Second Son but that's february next gear.

A wii u sounds perfect until feb hits for me... Wish i could get that and a vita to hold me over.

Yeah, I've got all the games I want on PS4 right now to make me happy while waiting for Infamous : Second Son, Driveclub and Destiny :

- Battlefield 4
- Assassin's Creed 4, which is surprisingly good (didn't like AC3)
- Fifa 14
- NBA 2K14
- Killzone
- Resogun

(plus Contrast and some others like Warframe...)

I never went back to my PS3 despite my huge backlog. PS4 is just that good.

i have 13 retail games for the wii u and haven't gotten into 4 of them. not really overwhelmed anymore though because i'm getting through the backlog at a good pace and january should help with that now that i'm no longer addicted to tf2 (1400 hours later).

ah shit i forgot all about the wii games i still haven't played. okay, so that's more like 7-8 games to play on the wii u. and that's without going into the (smaller, because it's newer) vita backlog.

You sound like you're exaggerating a bit with this thread. If you're overwhelmed it surely isn't because there are so many next gen games to play.

Almost everyone I know that bought any of the new consoles still has their old one set up for when they run out of games to play.

I still have my PS3 too. The lack of backward compatibility kinda forced me to keep it, I can't abandon such a huge backlog of great games.

Fortunately, first half 2014 should give us time to go back to last gen consoles.

feeling a little underwhelmed at the moment actually.
I have COD:Ghosts, BF4, Contrast and Resogun the next game that is a 'must have' that im not even sure about is Metal Gear in the spring with Watch Dogs after that.

The most next gen feeling game on PS4 so far is War Thunder imo.

Not that I regret buying my system, just want more variety and experiences that weren't as possible last gen.

I do but its a good thing.

I have: Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Zoo Tycoon, Fifa 14, Battlefield 4, Peggle 2, Powerstar Golf.

Of those i've only finished single player on Ryse and BF4 (done all the levels on Peggle 2 but got challenges and trials to do), Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is out tomorrow, Halo: Spartan Assault on 24th and for xmas I'm getting Assassins Creed IV and Call of Duty Ghosts

So much to play, so little time.

Lots to play on the xbox one. Ryse, Dead Rising, Forza, Killer Instinct, Powerstar Golf, Crimson Dragon, and Halo Spartan Assault next week, followed by Max The Curse of Brotherhood? Amazing lineup if you ask me.

Kinda, PS4 here

COD:Ghosts
Battlefield 4
NBA 2K14
AC: Black Flag
Killzone
Knack
Lego Marvel
Nfs:Rivals
Sound Shapes
Contrast
Resogun
Flower
Doki Doki Universe
Tiny Brains
Super Motherload

I'm drowning here!

Also recently got Tearaway, Killzone: M for Vita and Beyond for PS3

A little bit yeah. When I turn on my PS4 I want to play many games, but have to choose 1 for the time being.

I currently have Need for Speed Rivals, Assassins Creed, Knack, Res0gun, Contrast, Tiny Brains, Doki Doki Universe, Flower, and Sound Shapes and all of them are quality so it takes a moment to figure out which to play lol. Then of course I am addicted to Warframe too which is an awesome game so ....

Almost beat Knack, haven't even gotten close to beating AC4, just got started with Rivals ( Gamefly ) , beat Flower, just got started with Sound Shapes, up to Master in Res0gun, like midway through Contrast, just got started with Tiny Brains, my daughter LOVES watching me play Doki Doki. So yeah, I will be playing launch games till Infamous probably in March. Then of course Sony has War Thunder hitting the US sometime soon, then Planetside 2 I think in January if I remember right.

Games galore out there. So yes, actually you are right I am a bit overwhelmed atm.

Not really. I own.

-NBA 2K14: (recently sold to GS for $42 back) Very lazy attempt by 2K.
-AC: Black Flag: Loved it beat it.. Quite possibly the highlight of all my PS4 games.
-Killzone: Beat it, strong start. The game falls apart near the end. Some headscratching design choices. The MP is decent, though I get bored after 3-4 maps.
-Knack: Loved it, reviewers be damned. It's flawed yes. But I plan to finish it multiple times.
-Need For Speed: Rivals: Enjoyable at times (playing as a cop), can be rage inducing (playing as a racer)
-Sound Shapes: haven't really played it on PS4.. Played extensively on Vita.
-Contrast: Flawed game, missed opportunities with the core mechanic.
-Resogun: Beautiful game. I beat it on the low difficulty. Slowy making my way through experinced/Vet. Next to AC4, highlight of PS4 so far.
-Flower: Looks and plays great on PS4.
-Escape Plan: Rediscovering this game after purchasing it on Vita. Very nice title.

That being said the only games with day to day consistency are Resogun and Need For Speed: Rivals. I find myself playing the PS3 much more actually (just got Minecraft and Tales of Xillia). I'm happy with my PS4, and it's bright future. But I'm not even close to being overwhelmed.

Not overwhelmed, but I definitely have more games to play than time to play them, and I only have one next gen console.

I'm probably furthest along in AC4 and am saving KZSF for later I guess. I gave my player mode a shot last night on NBA 2K14, will pick up Knack for couch co-op soon, and already have 5 or 6 other games in various states between untouched and less than 2 hours played.

All because I have pretty broad gaming interests, I hate it but I love it.

I'm actually more overwhelmed with the number of last-gen games that I want to play before I wrap it up for good. Even then, games will continue to come out for it that I want to play so the struggle continues.

For real. I bought a bunch of games over Black Friday and the sales preceding it, of which I've only so far had time to play COD Ghosts, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD, and Puppeteer. I still need to play Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and Batman: Arkham Origins. I have some DLC for Borderlands 2 (Tiny Tina) that I need to play, I need to run through the two story DLCs for Dishonored, and I need to finish Mark of the Ninja. I also still need to buy Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus, The Wolf Among Us: Season 1, and The Walking Dead: Season 2.

There are more than enough games to take me into 2014 and maybe even 2015 from just last gen alone. Next gen can wait.

No no no. That is what I had the past year and I explicitly wanted to avoid this for the Next Gen. So I only bought 2 games - Killzone and AC. Finished KZ and am well on my way to finish AC as well. Will not do the same mistake again and buy games that I hve to wait months to play.

Forza, power star golf, peggle2, FIFA, ryse, dead rising, max will keep me busy for some time. A good rpg would do wonders for me, though.

I'm with you. My PS4 arrives today, but I don't even have time to play as much BF4, Forza, DR3, Powerstar Golf, and Peggle 2 as I want to.

And that doesn't even get into last-gen games. I still want to play Lego Marvel and Beyond Two Souls, not to mention upcoming games. No drought here.

Eh no. I'm feeling a bit of hesitation to buy crossgen games. I'd like some demos. But there are none.
I've only played. Killzone Shadowfall thus far (and really enjoyed that) and Flower (but that's the same game i allready played).

I'm struggling for a reason to keep my PS4 at the moment.

I only have Killzone so far, and it isn't enough to make me turn on my PS4.

Only other games I'm interested are multi-plats I have already on other platforms or free to play games I've already played/already have on other platforms.

I'm kind of miffed I didn't trust my own instincts and wait tbh.

The other problem is that I REFUSE to use physical media this gen and the price for basically every non indie game is £52-£55 on PSN...ridiculous...I can't buy games even if I want to......

I'm actually more overwhelmed with the number of last-gen games that I want to play before I wrap it up for good. Even then, games will continue to come out for it that I want to play so the struggle continues.

Yeah this is how I feel. I'm overwhelmed with all the games I still want to play from last gen, plus classic retro games, and a strong desire to jump into next gen. It's damn near just too many games to play.

Not really. My backlog on Steam will never be completed.

But on the new consoles I have completed Ryse, Killzone, and as of last night CoD:Ghosts. And I would've finished BF4 by now had my save not been lost twice.

All that I have left is Need for Speed, Forza, and NBA2k14. Non of which are must beat campaigns.

Multiplayer BF4 I already have 73 hours in. Haven't touch KZ or Ghosts multi yet, though I intend to.

lol no

Killzone SF basically cost me $400 as it is the only thing i play on the system

AC4, BF4 are disappointing
resogun is fun for a day or two, not really my type of game
Haven't played Knack much, waiting for inevitable PS+
New COD of course is garbage like the rest
Warframe is kind of fun but I don't have the time or patience for it.

Thank god killzone is amazing or i would be having some buyers remorse right now

Not really. I thought all the PS+ and F2P games would be enough, but due to playing more than usually I'm already pretty much finished with KZ:SF and Resogun after three weeks, and I'm currently playing Flower, which won't take long to finish. Contrast and Warframe didn't really grab my interest as much as those three. I've yet to try DC Universe Online, whereas War Thunder and Blacklight: Retribution don't really interest me, as I don't tend to play military-themed games, nor competitive multiplayer. ACIV, BF4, COD, Injustice, Knack, and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes aren't my kind of games either, and sports titles couldn't interest me less.

If there had been an arcade racer, like WipEout, SSX or MotorStorm before, things might be different. Oh well, I'll just have to wait until indies, some horror/scifi-themed games, or something else that appeals to my selective taste, hit the PS4, and perhaps replay Killzone in the mean time. Here's to hoping the upcoming online co-op mode will be a worthy addition.

So many games, I have to use BOTH hands to count them!

This is not the thread I was expecting, truth be told.

Not at all, in fact I've already traded in the 6 PS4 retail games I bought for the system as they were all disappointing in various ways (except for Knack, but that will be a PS+ game so I chose to trade it in for $40). I could play resogun, contrast and warframe but I have no interest in any of them so I hooked my PS3 back up to go through some of the PS+ games I didn't get to yet.

No, I feel overwhelmed with the number of last gen games I still want to play. If it wasn't for Warframe my PS4 wouldn't be getting much airtime.

There are games, yes. People say Ass Creed 4 is good, but it's still Ass Creed so there's a barrier for me there. Need for Speed is like 55 quid at the mo' and isn't even my thing really. I've been playing Killzone but I actually dislike FPS games. I'm actually really selective of the games I play so really there isn't that much out there for me on next gen.

PS4/X1? Hell No! I've never been so underwhelmed with a console launch ever

They're mostly old IPs / ideas with a new lick of paint

lol, no

Assuming we're just talking Xbone and PS4, I have a PS4 and haven't found the motivation to take it out of the box.

I'm not quite as apathetic with my PS4, but I surely feel this sentiment.

I turn it on every once in a while to play Resogun but that's about it. Not anticipating purchasing another game out of anything but sheer desperation until the end of 2014.

Edit: I guess I do have a bunch of things I still need to finish on Wii U. I still wouldn't say I'm overwhelmed with games on it, just busier with the handhelds.

My PS4 would be under an inch of dust if it wasn't for mindless matches of CoD. Probably the most apathetic launch line up I remember. Not BAD, just super blah. Honestly would have enjoyed playing Dead Rising/Forza more. But grass is always greener I suppose.

If you just bought a Wii U, maybe, but with the launch line-ups of the PS4 and Xbone, I don't see it. Unless you have a mere couple hours a week to play.

If you handed me a PS4 I wouldn't have a single game for it yet and if you handed me an Xbone I'd be playing Killer Instinct/Dead Rising 3.

So no, 2 games wouldn't overwhelm me.

Well that's the thing; many of the titles aren't really "finish the story" games. They are pick up and play which therefore make them playable for a long time.
