Amazing 4-player local multiplayer games

Protect Me Knight

Smalltime! Do it with four Gamecubes with Game Boy Players and four TVs.

This, but with more.[/QUOTE]
Meh, 4 sword adventure was way better.

I know since I actually played both with 4 GBA's(the first iteration, so no backlight!), GC, etc. FF:CC was pretty boring compared to 4 swords.

Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II for the Gamecube

Every other year, I start up a new 4 player game with friends and beat both episodes one after the next.

Phantasy Star (Online) Ep 1&2. on Gamecube. We played this so much...
Totally agree, this was the only reason I got the GC version so damn fun.
I'll post this again since it's a different topic!

Me & my friends spent countless hours in this game!

These guys know what's up.

They've all been mentioned by now most likely, but Chu Chu Rocket, Bomberman, and Protect Me Knight are my local multiplayer standbys.

It really bugs me that the only modern release Chu Chu Rocket has is on iOS. Why the hell isn't it on XBLA/PSN?

I came into this thread to post these along with:

(I prefer the multiplayer in this over TS2, but maybe I'm crazy)

Don't know Calling All Cars until you've played some 4 player split-screen. That's a damned good time.

Have you considered games of the non-video variety?

My friends and I recently discovered Munchkin. It's a card game loosely based on Dungeons & Dragons, but much simpler. It's basically all about choosing when is the best time to screw over your friends. Also, one of the official rules in the rulebook is, "Cheating is cool, as long as you don't get caught." Good fun.

I'd recommend giving it a shot if you're looking for change of pace.

One of my friends had Wacked! on Xbox and anytime we went over there he pretty much forced us to play it with him. What a terrible terrible game.

My friends and I had awesome fun with the Conflict series back in the day. I think Desert Storm 2 was the favourite. Global Storm is definitely more polished though, if you can't handle the outdated graphics. Oh, and don't bother with the current gen one; totally different and only 2-player.

Lot's of great memories of reviving each other in dire situations, like when we were getting hounded by that tank that one time in the city centre, or trying to split up and take a stealthy approach in a night mission, navigating through a minefield, trying to keep our vehicle the whole way through the level, etc. Always remember, the support guy starts with anti-tank mines!

The same team made the first two Def Jam games, but I don't know if those are 4-player.

Yep, they sure as hell are!

Hidden In Plain Sight

This game is so damn fun with 4 people. The game has a couple modes and the basis for each is to not act like you are controlling a character. The screens fills up with a lot of the same characters and you first have to figure out which one you are controlling. Then accomplish the goal with the other players knowing which one you are WHILE trying to stop the others from completing their goals. Sounds confusing but it's pretty easy to learn. So fun!

What about some JRPG? I would recommend Tales of the Abyss. Not 4 players from the start, but when you get 4 of them and you understand the battle mechanics, it is fun.

Haha, yes! Awesome games, used to play those with my friends and brother too. After buying my 360 like in 2008, I tried the game once again before selling my GC and boy it felt SO outdated :p

Btw, another recommendation:

Shit was INCREDIBLE. 4 player coop, no multiplayer story mode but still great... kind like a Dynasty Warriors, but a lot more fun.

Tried Hunter: The Reckoning on Dolphin, didn't work out. Gonna have to wait for my Gamecube copy to come in the mail.

Went with Warhawk instead tonight. Was pretty fun :) We were all bad and people are really damn good, but it was fun just because we had 4 people.

Gonna have Gauntlet 64 on deck next time. Man I really wish I had an Xbox for some of those godlike looking XBLA games :\

Also what up Chauncy #STROKE

Oh, any good local (single PC) co-op PC games? I noticed Dungeon Defenders is on PC as well and was considering checking that version out.

KungFuChaos_11052002_06.jpg

Really enjoyed Kung Fu Chaos (Xbox) a lot with friends. Fuzion Frenzy had some fun games. The sequel however was terrible. With awful minigames, a terrible tournament (with the lamest cutscenes you can imagine) and just no fun at all to play.

I do find it disapointing that more developers don't add splitscreen in their games. Also the 360 has no party games at all (no fusion frenzy 2 does not count). I don't really understand why there are dozens of FPS games and noone is filling the gap of party games...?

Could you let me know the name of this game please?

Thanks

Warhawk and LittleBigPlanet 2.

Does anyone know about local multiplayer in Dungeon Hunter Alliance? That looks pretty cool. Cooptimus says 4 players locally, and they handle the dungeon crawling well. Sounds just like Champions.

GAF Confessions: I liked the XBL Beta demo so much that I bought it, albeit years later for like $5.

I regret the purchase. Had a lot of fun with it though, for a tiny while.

The correct answer is worms world party.

Death tanks a close second.

Third would be Rayman Origins/Mario Wii - 4 player mario is just so much fun.

I shall try this O-Space game ,looks interesting.

Really? None of this has been mentioned? (Unless I missed it, then feel free to /point /laugh)

This game is chaos on 4 player.

Obviously it is a Nintendo game, but it is more than just a sit down and duke it out, you actually play through the entire game together. You're playing SMB with 4 people at once.

Also, Yoshi can grab other players. Do what you will with that information.

They need to release Gauntlet Legends on XBLA. Could you guys imagine that?
That would be the best news. Would mean I could put my PSOne copy I bought last year to rest.

Tried Hunter: The Reckoning on Dolphin, didn't work out. Gonna have to wait for my Gamecube copy to come in the mail.

Came in to say 'Try Hunter: The Reckoning, it's like Left 4 Dead but better!' and I see you're already on it.
