Amazon censoring Titanfall reviews - Must hit dat 5 stars rating.

What an inflammatory thread. If you read even a quarter of those reviews, they deserve to get deleted. Same thing with the ones on Metacritic.

If the game was a genuine train-wreck riddled with plagiarism, bugs and generic bullshit, then it would certainly warrant all those 1 star/0 out of 10 reviews. Unfortunately for some people, it is none of those things.

Definitely need some celebrex in here.

Well said. A 1-star review is ridiculous for a game that is almost universally hailed as a fun and fantastic game.

Not liking the game? Fine. Play something else.

Giving it 1-star? Trolling or butthurt. Not a real review, IMO.

Always good to know people are so objective about how a good is that it just simply can't be a 1 star.

After reading this thread ( my brain still hurts a little bit) and looking at the amazon product page in question, i kinda doubt that something fishy is going on. I know, we all love a good and plausible conspiracy, but this looks more and more like a weird amazon glitch.

I mean come on, good and bad reviews have vanished almost equally.

If person purchases $60 game over Amazon, then he should be able to vote as he likes.

Now for non-verified purchases, in cases like this they can implement some kind of no-unusual scores system like IMDB.

Maybe they auto-remove 'reviews' that don't have any content? I'm not even sure people that didn't buy it from Amazon should be allowed to review it there, it's just pointless.

Yea. People don't seem to notice that 5 star reviews were also deleted. Always has to be some sort of conspiracy i guess.

Because they're complete nonsense by people who have profiles like this or this.

Some people really do have nothing better to do with their time. These kind of reviews should be removed. Must be a pain in the arse for places like Amazon having to sift through all that.

So they're removing spam, or legitimate reviews? The removal of 5-star posts is odd.

Sure, you can. But it's trolling and butthurt. Not a real review, IMO.

Who BUYS a game that has been previewed endlessly buy numerous gaming sites, demoed, beta'd, written about countless times with near universal praise, advertised like crazy... and then gives it a 1-star?

Idiots. That's who.
Modern warfare 2. (beta not bold because there was none IIRC)

People can really dislike a game. Why is a 1 star unreasonable? Just because you don't agree with it? Just because it's praised by other people? Opinions, how do they work?

Could most 1 star be trolls? yes. Could some be real? yes.

I think it's mostly spam

So it's not a real review because it's negative? I don't understand this logic. I understand removing reviews from people who are trolling but I don't understand removing legitimate one star reviews. Legitimate meaning that's how some one honestly felt about a game.

Weren't MS employees astroturfing GAF, Reddit and their own Twitter? It may not be score posting but if they are stooping that low already posting low scores is a logical jump.

I believe the GAF mods said there were some PR company astroturfing issues... but as a MS employee myself I can tell you if I was caught astroturfing I would be subject to disciplinary action and possibly/probably fired. My next review wouldn't be pretty, that's for sure.

Edit: For the fifth time Amazon temporarily takes down reviews under "review" if they are not "helpful" enough. Once they are "reviewed" and it goes through, they go back up. It's not like Amazon went on NeoGaf and found out people thought they were shilling for Microsoft and decided to put the one-star reviews back and take down some 5-star ones. But of course, who reads posts.

Target sighted >_>

It's Amazon.com.

You think they need EA's money?

You can't beat more

Get me, to fucking Mars.

If YOU can get to mars, THEY can get to mars

A lot of gamers have way too much free time and are way to invested in their favorite companies. It happens though, and not just on Amazon, and not just with one particular company. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. I can't think of another hobby where something like this would happen.

Amazing

Fuckin fanboys

Dear Lord, what is it about Sony fans?

amazon review said:
Long story short:
Played the beta and already experienced framerate issues and tearing.
Thought they're gonna fix this when the game releases, but it didn't happen.

This is a so called next gen game, with:
- tearing issues
- the framerate dives down to single digits per second
- 796p resolution
- some really horrible textures
- really really bad AI

I can't understand how a dev could release such a thing.
Why not waiting another few months for more polish?
Is Microsoft so desperate, because the XBone is in such a bad state with its weak hardware?

Result:
Wait a few months and get the PC version, if your really wanna play this game.
Maybe after a few patches, this game will run well on a PC.
The XboxOne version is horrible.

He forgot to say no single player campaign!

I feel bad for the people who actually put some time and effort into writing an user review.
Dear Lord, what is it about Sony fans?

He forgot to say no single player campaign!
Aih, such a shame he was so close. Better luck next time random console warrior.

Dear Lord, what is it about Sony fans?

I tend to think this behaviour isn't exclusive to "Sony fans". Hell, it's not even exclusive to gaming fanboys in general - with basically any situation where there's "x" vs "y" you'll get a small percentage of diehard fans of either making vitriolic comments. Such is human nature, apparently.

I only use Amazon reviews for things I'm not exactly knowledgeable in (and even then I do further research). The last thing I care about when it comes to buying games and films is the comments, unless it's about shipping problems.

Can you buy a game, leave a review and then cancel an order?

Maybe that's what's happening here. Amazon are deleting the reviews of those who are doing this? Just a thought.

Also why have some of the positive reviews been deleted too?

If they're removing reviews of console warrior idiots (on both sides) then more power to them. It must be time intensive to do that, however.
Wouldn't it be nice if console warriors stopped pretending everything about their console of choice was great and everything about the "enemy's console" was crap?

Always good to know people are so objective about how a good is that it just simply can't be a 1 star.

Granted reviews are subjective but if you're looking at it from a logical objective point of view, MOST games should never receive a 1 star rating. That's the problem with user reviews.

It's not a like/dislike situation where it's a 2 or a 1. Just because you dislike it doesn't mean you should give it a 1 star rating.

If there is a serious problem with a game like BF4 where you can't even play it, that warrants the 1 IMO.

This gen has brought out the worst in everyone. I just don't understand why and where it's coming from.

Children.

People tend to think of stuff written on the internet as if it were done by somebody in their general age group.

I used to troll OS/2 Warp vs Windows Usenet forums back in the day, and can assure you that my maturity was on par with some of those nuked Amazon and Metacritic reviews.

If a purchase is verified i dont think amazon should have the right to remove the review unless its spam/advertisement. Also only verified purchasers should be allowed to leave reviews anyway
