this happened to me before, I returned the item. they will get their money one way or another though, so don't think you're going to get away with it. plus amazons CS is great, hopefully people have the same decency as them

About 2 or 3 months ago, I made a purchase through an Amazon Marketplace seller (with fulfillment though Amazon, though). It was a used CD. When the CD arrived - I opened up the case to find that the wrong disc was inside. I contacted Amazon and they issued a full refund. Since this was from the marketplace, they had zero interest is processing a return. I was instructed to "either keep it, donate it or throw it away".

Amazon Customer Service is truly the best in the world. Contact them and let them know what happened. If they tell you to keep it cool. If not, do the right thing. ;)

When I ordered the MGS HD Collection LE, I was supposed to get it 2 days after (woo Prime). Never showed up, UPS tracking wasn't updated, nothing.

Asked Amazon about it, and they said they'd send me another, but they had no more left in stock. So they gave me a refund.

A few days later, it comes up and arrives. I was surprised, but then went to contact Amazon to let them know about it. They just said I needed to give them permission to charge me again for the game's amount (since the refund for the first purchase had already gone through), and I gave them the go ahead since they've been the best customer service I've dealt with.

I have a story....

I ordered a couple of games on the US amazon.com site and gave as shipping address my aunt's in Texas. She was going to visit me in Germany so I thought she could bring them over.

After a month of paying I asked my aunt about the games and said they weren't there and I promtly emailed customer service just to ask if they knew what happened with the games. I did NOT ask for a refund or anything.

I get an email in the next hours from a real person saying " we are in the middle of the holiday rush and can't handle your case, we have completely refunded".....

two weeks later in Germany.. " here!! your games!! " I said "what???" .."yeah, your cousin had taken them and didn't tell me"...

I wrote amazon customer service an email saying I got them... and I got *crickets , no answer , they really couldn't care any less, I don't feel bad at all, if it's their terms of service not the give a damn, I can't help it.

Return it. Even without "gaming their system" of laid back return policies Amazon still saves you money in how they operate. Do the right thing, mang.

I would keep it. They fucked up. A few months ago I bought a game from amazon and then my car was stolen with the game in it. Magically and no kidding the game came the next day in another package from them. No reason why from them and no additional charges. I just see it as a perk to having prime membership.

I return them or at least ask if they want me to. Though every time they told me to keep it or dispose of it. They are so good, that I don't want to jinx the good Amazon karma I have experienced so far.

I had an item from Amazon that arrived, which I brought into my house. My house was then burglarized that night and it was stolen along with a ton of other shit. I asked Amazon if they'd send me a new one for free after clearly explaining what happened and that it was 100% not their fault, and they sent me it brand new with 2-day shipping. It was a $60 item.

Ever since then, I've made it my personal agenda to right all wrongs related to Amazon.

I will personally beat your ass (just kidding, I just like to be an internet tough guy) if you do not contact them about what they'd like you to do.

"They did me a favor in the past, which they had no obligation to do whatsoever, so I say fuck 'em."

What?

I've had this happen to me 3 times total (I order from amazon 100+ times a year)

Each time I was told in my correspondence to keep any items that may or may not arrive.

So I did.

Amazon has amazing customer service. They really go out of their way to keep customers happy.

Don't fuck them over for it.

Return it but call Amazon first to see what they want to do with it. You'd be surprised as you might even be able to keep it.

Amazon's customer service is really great. No hassle for refunds and replacements when I needed them. Not much more I can ask from them except return their generosity in kind.

Leave the package at your doorstep, go take a shower and wait for a neighbor to steal it. When it eventually gets stolen, pretend like it never happened. Out of sight, out of mind.

Whatever happened in that thread?

This has happened to me with Arrested Development DVDs, I got 2 copies of all the seasons for no apparent reason (it was around Christmas time and they came about a week apart). I called up Amazon to let them know I'd ship one back and they told me to keep it, rather emphatically. It was weird, but nice. Incredible customer service and keeps me going back.
