Amazon Prime Student now requiring proof of enrollment beyond edu address

79.99 is a great deal anyway. My wife and I are still getting a dicount on our phone bill through AT&T though. Instead of setting her up as a student, they set her up as an emplyee of the school.

I can't leave AT&T because of it :(

So is Prime family sharing.

You can still share the benefits as long as it was set up before switching to the student plan

Actually, unless I did something wrong upon sign up, its free for the first 6 months, then pony up the $40.

It has changed over time. Originally it was a full year free and full benefits (but there were not many if any Prime benefits besides shipping at the time).

The 5 actually had to be family family with same address according to their term. But I never heard of them actually enforce it.

Well I don't think they have to have the same address. Technically they're supposed to be family though.

On the contrary, technically they're supposed to have the same address but it doesn't matter if they're family.

If you sign up for a free trial or paid Prime membership, you may invite up to four eligible household members (living at the same address) to enjoy the shipping benefits of your free trial or paid Prime membership at no extra cost (invitees).

Not enforced at all though, and it would be difficult since they let you ship wherever you want

Lol whoops sorry for the misinformation. I guess I had it backwards. Doesn't have to be family, but has to have the same address.

Got an email today saying my membership was expiring and I had to pay full price for prime unless I sent one of the below:

1. Transcript
2. Acceptance letter with matriculation date
3. Student ID with expiration date

I sent a copy of my transcript from the last 2 semester. This is just a heads up for people who have amazon prime student accounts. An edu account will no longer fly.

Edit:
Amazon Student is 39.99 as opposed to 79.99

My renewel is coming up this July :(

My Amazon prime student was renewed for the same price and I didn't have to show proof

I canceled and signed back up again at $39 without providing any proof the other day. It wiped out my shared prime list though :(

(normally when you go from regular prime to student you can keep the list)

This is why I am glad that I never grew up feeling spoiled. Having good things ripped away from me don't sting so badly.

The amount of people raging because they can't abuse the system any more is pretty amazing.

Oh what the hell amazon? I can't keep scamming you so easily? Jeez. Isn't that why these discount prices are put in there in the first place, for people like me to take advantage of it? I mean come on, it's just not fair.

This kind of sucks :/

I'm too lazy to jump through all those hoops for something i barely use. I got all the stuff i needed when i moved out last year. It is definitely worth it, even paying for it if you are going to buy alot of stuff or use amazon frequently.

The list was probably gone when you canceled not when you signed up. Because canceling took you to no prime, which wipes the list.

I LOVE my Student Prime. I get that sweet fast shipping and the streaming, which was very convenient when we decided t cut cable. I will continue to get the service even after my student bid runs out. Totally worth it.

They started charging sales tax in Texas recently so Amazon isn't my go to for stuff anymore anyway.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Right, that's what I mean. I had to cancel because my renewal was up and they were going to charge me $80. Once it expired they immediately offered it for $40 again. I kind of figured doing this would wipe out the list, but it is annoying. Not really my problem though

I've paid for it for ~4 years now. Their recent "add-on" items really annoys me. I feel like I keep more things in my cart now to group ship than I did before.

Yeah, I've posted about this a lot in the past, but the add-on policy BS is ruining prime for me

and it ruins 1-click shopping too
