Amazon UK - Becoming increasingly unreliable for anyone else?

I think Amazon UK has gotten to that stage with me that they could probably kill my entire family and tribe starting an epic story of revenge but I'd just forgive them on the spot.

Since they dropped the Super Saver delivery on orders of a value of less than £10 they have been all over the shop for me on a whole range of products.

Can't say I am looking forward to finding out which courier has my PS4 for release day delivery from Amazon. Meltdowns will ensue if they use the old attempted delivery owner not at home trick like Yodel/HDNL seem to try on me more often than not.

I've got a free Prime trial which I might activate prior to release in the hope it might get sent with a reputable courier service.

I heard ShopTo is okay

HA, Love the jokes!

Amazon are still great for me! Had an issue where the post office lost some faulty phones that I thought were returned to amazon back in April, they found there way back to me the weekend just gone, with an 'apology' from the post office. Got in touch with Amazon and they said that they will still accept them and have already processed the refund!

Cracking service!

My mate dont use them for the tax issue though... but I like to buy stuff cheap!

Totally fine for me, west of scotland. Any issues I've ever had is completely down to our post office. No issue getting amazon packages here in town in time, plenty of issues having our local post depot deliver that stuff on time. Even that has been fine lately though.

Rural north yorkshire here and they are great except when using royal mail for stuff which can vanish into the system for a week or more quite easily around here. All the other couriers tend to deliver next day after dispatch regardless of paying for it or not.

I should have made that distinction. I was referring to royal mail specifically with my comment, similar experience to Toytown here. Couriers are always spot on.

Noticeable deterioration over the past year. I never used to bother checking their prices as they were inevitably among the cheapest, but that hasn't been the case for the past 4 or 5 purchases I've made across a range of departments.

Delivery has gotten slower. Prime at this point is a Trading Standards case waiting to happen. "Prime doesn't ever give me next day delivery." "Have another month of Prime - for free!"

I'm London too btw. Maybe a chaotic local warehouse is to blame, but with this service and their shitty tax avoiding, I'm through with them.

Amazon UK have always been brilliant for me. But I ordered Pokemon X back in May, and it was supposed to be delivered last Saturday but it arrived yesterday.

What's weird though is that my brother ordered the exact same game on the exact same day with Pokemon Y as well and they were delivered on Saturday....

Hope my PS4 order won't be messed up.

I'm in mid Wales and the only time Amazon have ever failed me was when I paid for express delivery on a launch day 3DS and they didn't bother dispatching it until the day itself.

While they did refund the postage costs I vowed never to pay for express delivery again.

Everything else has been peachy except for some really weird packing choices. They send a motherboard in a box twice as big but then squeezed the CPU in to a tiny box which was hardly sealed while the RAM came in an unpadded cardboard envelope. The kicker is that they could have easily put the the whole lot in one box and saved on postage.

But I can't complain, thanks to their choices I have more bubblewrap than I could dream of!

You sure you actually bought them from Amazon and not simply through Amazon?

I've noticed an increasing number of stuff is actually sold by other companies through Amazon.

For instance:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00844P3D8/

It's actually sold by 'gamesndvdstop'.
The OP is having issues with pre-orders arriving on launch date, so this does not apply.

Amazon does not allow third party sellers to offer pre-order items, those are sold by Amazon only.

OP - are they dispatching on time? Because if they are it isn't their fault unless they're using 2nd class or some crap.

Does anyone deliver on a Sunday?

From delivery times to customer service I have never had any issue with Amazon in the UK.

please don't fuck up my PS4 preorder

Amazon have done me well over the years, however I think they're being let down by postal service and couriers for the most part. Their customer service still remains fair-good.

Yep, they've screwed up a bunch of preorders and delivered them pretty late. A friend of mine had his amazon pokemon preorder delayed too. With the Wii U launch they had a snafu that meant that the bundled game (Nintendoland) wasn't included.

I've switched to shop*cough*to but I've been forced use amazon for the Wii Fit Meter next month.

Amazon have never let me down, except for the time they subscribed me to Amazon Prime twice without me asking (never got a refund for the second time because I only noticed it two years later), but made up for it by -presumably accidentally- sending me a couple of orders to the amount of £100 and forgetting to charge for it. I'm still happy to order from them, and they're hard to beat on price.

Simplygames are excellent for service and price, apart from the one time they forgot to send out one of my preorders. They're my second go-to e-retailer.

Thehut, Zavvi, and GAME are all reliable and competitive in my experience.

Recently made my first Shopto preorder and it seems to be going well (was amazed by the parcel pic thing).

Some of them. Beyond was dispatched late on Thursday (was stuck on dispatching now for a while before updating to dispatched near midnight), hasn't arrived.

SR4 and Puppeteer were dispatched 1 and 4 days after release. GTA5 was dispatched on time.

From my experience Amazons quite good with deliveries. I get all my games on time on release day or next day delivery if it's a weekday.

Amazon UK has always been poor for me. I consistently avoid them for any kind of preorders, although I have preordered my Xbone from there as I feel a bit more confident with their ability to deliver pricey orders on time.

It's a shame when Amazon US seems so well respected.

I've stopped using them for pre-orders because their delivery times are awful due to long processing. I was okay with them for items already released, mind, but even delivery times on those have got bad. If I order an item on a Thursday or Friday, it actually won't arrive until Friday the following week. Sometimes if I place an order for an item earlier in the week it can be here by Saturday, but usually not until Monday-Wednesday of the following week.

I live in Cardiff.

At any rate, I'm not happy, so I'm probably going to ditch them unless there's a very specific offer they have available. Retail in the UK is very competitive, especially for games, so it shouldn't be hard to find someone else who is prepared to offer good prices while delivering on time.

Amazon UK have never gotten a game to me on release date. It's ridiculous. Had to cancel my Xillia order because they failed to deliver it at all. I think they should stop using Amazon Logistics and go with Royal Mail 1st Class instead.

Amazon US is not much better. I used to like it a lot, but now hardly any deals, take forever to ship, and last two games I got had busted packaging.

I've personally not had any issues with Anazon UK, but then again I haven't ordered a game in a while for launch day/week. Their customer service dept is top notch.

Don't go to Game. I've heard horror stories like people finding pubic hair in game cases...ew.

Netherlands here.

Amazon UK is indeed turning into shit.

Ordered Beyond and Kingdom Hearts 1.5, delivery estimate is the 17th. A whole week after release.

My last order took more than 2 weeks to arrive.

I think they changed courier or something, they used to be rock solid.
